WELCOME TO OUR JAN TO APR 2019 SEASON There’s a decidedly feline feel to some of our programming early in 2019 and the thought of curling up cat-like on a cushion may be very appealing in the colder months, but we have lots of great performances and activities to tempt you out. Whatever the weather, we will give you a warm welcome at Macrobert Arts Centre for your choice of cinema, comedy, dance, entertainment, family, music, theatre or workshop experience. We have fabulous entertainment from our furry friends Lionel the lion in Eaten (P6) and from Witch’s companion in Room on the Broom (P9) and our Arthouse will be teaming with cat inspired winning entries - one of the themes for the National Galleries of Scotland’s Tesco Bank Art Competition for young people (P4). Last year we spent time working with Bassline Circus and Feral Arts as part of our artist development programme in the creation of their fabulous new work KID_X (P18). This unique mix of urban dance, circus skills, live visuals and digital reggae tracks tells a classic romantic tale in a future setting - your heart will soar and your feet will be tapping. If you need some inspiration to get out and about look no further - Mark Beaumont (P14) will be here to share his experiences of endurance cycling and World Record setting around the globe. For those of you who are feeling tempted to stay home and spring clean, try laughing away the cobwebs with the employees of Dirty Dusting (P16) - a comedy classic based on a very original business idea! This season our Conversation (P2&3) looks directly at whose voices are heard, through a selection of theatre, film, photography and literature events, with opportunities for you to share your thoughts with others. In the early part of the year you will notice developments happening all around us on Campus, but our rich and vibrant range of Live, Cinema and Get Involved activities will be as busy as ever and there will be some improvements in our venue too. We look forward to welcoming you to Macrobert Arts Centre in 2019.

THE TRAGEDY OF KING RICHARD THE SECOND
This is the 15th Year of celebrating children’s art at the National Galleries of Scotland so don’t miss seeing the 53 outstanding winning works from nursery, primary, secondary and special education schools. 8,123 entries were submitted in 2018 from 31 council areas all over Scotland. Themes included: A Place to Live; Cats; Makers of Magic; Energy and Hair, Fur and Feathers.
Richard II, King of England, is irresponsible, foolish and vain. His weak leadership sends his kingdom into disarray and his court into uproar. Seeing no other option but to seize power, the ambitious Bolingbroke challenges the throne and the King’s divine right to rule. Simon Russell Beale returns to National Theatre Live screens following broadcasts of Timon of Athens and King Lear in a visceral new production about the limits of power directed by Joe Hill-Gibbins.

DROP-IN: DANCE

A drop-in class for those interested in developing their dance skills, these sessions will offer participants the opportunity to improve their technique, stamina and performance skills. Campus Central
The University of Stirling is undertaking an exciting new infrastructure project called Campus Central – one of the biggest since their foundation. This £21 million project will create a new three-storey building at the heart of campus and give students, staff and visitors a host of new study and social spaces to take advantage of. This important investment will mean a few changes for us at Macrobert Arts Centre and you our customers, but we’ll be keeping you up to date with all the latest info on our website, social media channels and e-newsletters. MAIN DOORS The first change you’ll notice, at some point in early 2019, is the relocation of our front entrance. You’ll be coming into our building from a new double door on the lochside instead, but don’t worry there’ll be signs to point you in the right direction. ACCESSIBLE PARKING The accessible parking spaces will be moving too, but there are plans for a few more of these and you’ll still be able to drop off near our new main doors. We’re working with the University to keep the disruption associated with these changes to a minimum, but please bear with us during this re-development – we’re here to help make your visits to Macrobert Arts Centre as enjoyable and easy as they’ve always been. We welcome all visitors with additional access requirements and are committed to making our work and spaces accessible to everyone. Our building is accessible to wheelchairs and we have a changing places toilet – you can find us on the CP Register. Drop-off & Parking
Queen's Court (the large roundabout at the front of Macrobert Arts Centre) is now closed to through traffic, but vehicular access is still possible from the East Link Road (most easily accessed from the Hillfoots Road entrance to the University Campus). That means you can drop-off at our building and Blue Badge holders are able to use the disabled parking spaces.
Ticket Discounts
Concession priced tickets are available for people with additional support needs and assisting companions are admitted free of charge. Please let us know if you require a wheelchair space or if you have any additional access requirements. Page 32

WE’RE FAMILY FRIENDLY
We welcome children and families and are fully accessible for prams and pushchairs and booster cushions are available on request for the Filmhouse. Mothers are welcome to breastfeed anywhere at Macrobert Arts Centre and we have baby changing facilities in both the men’s and women’s toilets in the main foyer and the Arthouse. There is also a changing places facility in the venue.
Babes in Arms
We offer a limited number of free tickets for children (aged 12 months and under) who are sharing a seat with their carer at some family friendly events. These must be booked in advance so please give us a call on 01786 466 666 for more information or to book.
