The glazed atrium and garden areas at our Box Office now connect Macrobert directly to our beautiful surroundings, making a summer visit to your arts centre a delightful indoor/outdoor experience. Grab an ice cream or drink from our Kiosk and enjoy the fresh air. Be careful however not to relax so much that you forget to plan ahead for Panto. We’ve been waiting a long time for her but Maw Goose will be dazzling us all this festive season. Written by the inimitable Johnny McKnight, starring the internet sensation Brido Hingwy as our new panto dame. Tickets are already selling like hotcakes so it is clear to see that you are as excited as us. You can also catch Brido in his one-man show Uh Huh - The Janice and Frank Story: 2022 this September. I look forward to saying hello to you on your summer visits to Macrobert Arts Centre.

549 tells the true stories of four working class miners who went to fight as part of the International Brigade. Travelling from the streets of Prestonpans to the valleys of Spain. They gave up everything that was familiar: for a land that was not; for a people they had never met; and for a cause they believed was right.

Inspired by the ancient Japanese art of kintsugi, where broken pottery is mended with gold or silver, Worn is an exquisite and emotive dance, that explores how the body is affected by the experiences, marks and scars that make us who we are. Choreographed and performed by acclaimed duo, Errol White and Davina Givan.

Gladys, Olive and Elsie are three “vintage style” cleaning ladies who, threatened with redundancy, chance on an ‘unconventional’ way of earning some extra cash. A wrong number requiring a Sex Chat Line rings into the office and gives them a great idea… “Why not start their own Sex Chat Line?” After all, their age and appearance won’t matter on the telephone and providing they can keep this a secret from Dave, their boss…they could be onto a winner!

From warring tribes to ivory poachers, conservationist and elephant expert, Saba Douglas-Hamilton, takes you on a wild and precipitous journey, meandering from Kenya to the Congo, Namibia to St Tropez, to share the trials and triumphs of what it takes to save a single species - the African elephant.

Christine Bovill threads her remarkable journey in the world of French Song with the life and works of Edith Piaf. No glamour. No gimmicks. No pretence. Nothing but a voice, singing of life’s triumphs and tragedies. An evening of unforgettable stories and some of the finest songs of 20th century France.
