Welcome to our selection of Live Performance for spring and summer. There is a terrific range of Theatre, Comedy, Dance, Entertainment, Music and Opera including shows for all your Family to enjoy together.
It's not the winning… This summer we will be surrounded by elite sporting activity as the Glasgow 2018 European Championship Cycling Time Trials whizz through locations around Scotland (including parts of Stirling). The University of Stirling is also hosting the Special Olympics 50th Anniversary Games. With so much going on around us this season’s Conversation will explore our relationship to sport and what we value it for; well-being, inspiring behaviours or plain old medal bagging. The creative and participatory activities include; Lauren Hendry’s story of competing in ultra multi event sports (Tetra-Decathalon); a Conversation discussion event; a Cycle Cinema family day with sport documentaries and big screen movies; an exhibition of our Epic Art Challenge’s Sporting Superheroes. You can join the Conversation after the performance of Tetra-Decathalon (P16) when with a panel of experts and enthusiasts we will explore a number of questions; if effort, determination and striving to reach a goal are commendable in themselves? How important is celebrating achievement when it can drive some competitors to unethical behaviour? Is it really the taking part that counts? Whether you are coming along to see a performance, join a class, discuss sport, sit back and relax or get pedalling at the Cycle Cinema (P20), all of us in the Macrobert Arts Centre team will be delighted to see you.

With Lescauts’ encouragement, Des Grieux cheats at cards in an attempt to win Monsieur G.M.’s fortune. They are caught. Manon is arrested as a prostitute and deported to New Orleans, followed by Des Grieux. On the run, Manon dies from exhaustion.

Thu 10 to Wed 30 May This exhibition is the result of a year-long project exploring the Tobar an Dualchais archive. Storyteller Amanda Edmiston worked with Doune and Deanston Primary schools and the local community to investigate local memories and stories of plant use. It incorporates photography by Jane Sumner and hand-written stories collected during the project. There is also art created by the children, including the Kist - a wooden box full of herbal elements influenced by the idea of a 'cabinet of curiosities’.

BALLET WEST SHOWCASE
Dance is your pulse, your heartbeat, your breath. It’s the rhythm of your life. It’s the expression in time and movement, in happiness, joy, sadness and envy.
This show is the culmination of the Ballet West students' year and the final assessment for the BA (Hons) in Dance (awarded by the Open University). It demonstrates the breadth of experience the dancers have gained in classical ballet, modern ballet and contemporary dance and presents new works created for the students by Belgian choreographer Daniel Job. Degree courses at Ballet West combine training in technical dance skills with genuine performing experiences required by dancers working today.

What does it take to make a baby? An accident / right timing / a drunken night / right people / right parts? But what if you don’t have all the right parts? Or you do and one of them is broken.
I originally intended to call the show, ‘I’ll Millennial You in a Minute’, but my promoter considered the title, ‘off-puttingly baffling’. That’s my own chainsaw in the photo, by the way.
As it turns out, some things are un-mendable. This is the true story of a woman who gave her eggs to a friend to have a child, a deeply personal and political journey highlighting themes of choice, chance, science and family.
Is life that bad or have we good reason to complain about it? Are we filled with righteous anger at a world gone wrong or are we all just a bunch of whiny little brats? In short, are we spoiled? Come and watch as Byrne takes this question, turns it upside down and shakes it until the funny falls out. Go on, spoil yourself.

COMES TO TOWN We are bringing Cycle Cinema to the heart of Stirling this summer, our contribution to the dynamic cultural event that’s running as part of Glasgow 2018 European Championships: Festival 2018. In our off-grid, tented Cinema you can be entertained from your seat or join in the pedalling to power the projector! This fun-filled, family event will feature a great programme of big-screen entertainment for film and sports lovers alike alongside opportunities for film-makers and volunteers to get involved.

MEET, MAKE, MARCH This once-in-a-lifetime project celebrates 100 years of votes for women and we’re offering you the chance to get involved. It’s a UK-wide project and 100 female artists have been commissioned to help create 100 banners, working with organisations and communities across the UK – including Macrobert Arts Centre. We’ve commissioned renowned textile artist, Nadine Gorency, and are looking for enthusiastic women and girls* to get involved in some FREE banner-making sessions in May and June.

You’ll wear the colours of the suffrage movement (green, white, violet) and the Procession will be like a flowing river of colour through the streets. With live entertainment and refreshments, these popular events run once a month. They are open to everyone, but are designed to welcome people who benefit from a more relaxed environment, particularly people living with dementia. You can expect a relaxed attitude to noise and movement and friendly staff on hand to make your visit easy and enjoyable.

Forrester is a firm favourite at Macrobert Arts Centre. Join him for a selection of silent movie classic live accompanied by improvised piano accompaniment - including the work of Laurel and Hardy, Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton.

We deliver an all-year-round creative learning outreach programme, engaging with thousands of children and young people every year, from a wide range of backgrounds and our aim is to be there for everyone in the community we serve. Sadly, not all families are able to afford the fees, even though we try and keep prices as low as possible. This is where you could help by making a donation to our bursary fund. A donation of ÂŁ10 per month could make all the difference to a young person and allow them to be part of our programme.

WE’RE FAMILY FRIENDLY
There are 3 parking bays at the main entrance to Macrobert Arts Centre for blue badge holders.
We welcome children and families and are fully accessible for prams and pushchairs. There is a pram parking bay just as you enter the building beside the Box Office and booster cushions are available on request for the Filmhouse. We have baby changing facilities in both the men’s and women’s toilets in the main foyer and a baby care room in the Arthouse which includes a wheelchair accessible toilet, changing area and private area for feeding. Mothers are welcome to breastfeed anywhere at Macrobert Arts Centre. We also have a Changing Places Toilet - you can find us on the CPT Register.
