I’m obsessed with red...

Editor's Letter Welcome

to the first number of

Obsess. Each issue

will be created around an obsession that women have. The first one is covering the obsession for the colour red. Obsess focuses on showing the obsession through images and aesthetics, using some descriptive text to emphasize the content. We are trying to bring something new that women can relate to if they find themselves in the situations that the magazine is presenting. You will find an interesting layout that will stimulate your creative part of your brain. We are not any magazine. We are here to share the image of a woman who is in a “difficult” situation. So, don’t be shy! Dare to be our partner in crime! I look forward to hearing your stories!!

Her collection was inspired

by the colour red because it is associated with passion and love. The evening gowns are very dramatic, embroidered with 3D flowers. Her collection ended the show, making the event a success for all the designers.

Her name is Steffi and she is a ballerina (among other things). During a casual chat about a photo shoot, she told me that she loves the color red so much that her wardrobe is full of red clothes. Excited to hear that, my crazy mind asked her to bring all of them to the photo shoot. Of course, that was a silly thing to ask as her red wardrobe is in London! Oh my! But guess what? That didn’t stop her to bring

few items to the photo shoot, though. Enjoy her “redness”!!! by the Editor

“For me, red represents passion, intensity and love which is why red is my favourite colour. I love to sing, dance and draw; these are the ways I express myself since I’m actually quite reserved and shy. Another way I express myself is through the clothes and accessories I wear and the colour red is bold and stands out. It makes me come out of my little shell! The colour red is so diverse... red can be assertive and in your face, it can be sexy or it can be romantic and sweet... It’s up to you to decide what role you want to play!”

Human Obsession 48

Sneaking backstage...

The second outfit is a long evening dress, also in red, from CRUZ BUENO´s collection called Royal. The dress has more than 200 hand cuts, millimetrically measured and plaited to create a unique texture and eect on the body. The cuts are done based on the body proportions of the muscles to emphasize the feminine silhouette.

The Human Obsession is a two piece outfit, with a red skirt and a see through long sleeve top embroidered with more than 100 red rose petals, 80 red feathers and 30 rhinestones and crystals.

Lip art has become extremely popular in the fashion and make-up world recently. I wanted to create my own look and just loved the idea of using red jewels against a red matte lip. Absolutely love this lip with the soft black smokey eye (as seen in the first image of the article as well).

When you live abroad, buying Indian festive gear becomes even more daunting. I live in London and to be honest I have never found welldesigned Indian outfits here: either they are too expensive or too tacky. I am very particular about my choices and when it comes to clothes I want it my way, specially with Indian outfits. On my annual holiday to India, I make it a point to buy a few Indian outfits. But now that I don’t live there anymore, I find it really hard to find nice stuff. Today I am going to share something that I picked up on my mum’s recommendation (she loves red), something that adds a rich colour to my Indian wardrobe. With festivals like Karvachauth, Navratri and Diwali fast approaching, it’s time to get your outfits ready.

72

73

“I opted for big balis, a statement ring and a gold clutch to adorn the look. I went for a mix of red, green and gold bangles to accessorize the outfit.

I teamed up the Anarkali with traditional Mojris. Mojris bring a very traditional touch to the outfit and I love wearing them. I picked up these ones from Jaipur. They really complimented the red Anarkali. I opted for big balis, a statement ring and a gold clutch to adorn the look. I went for a mix of red, green and gold bangles to accessorize the outfit. Payal or anklet is also a forgotten Indian accessory. I used to love wearing anklets so I had a good collection of gold and silver anklets. I find them very sexy – on Western oufits you can wear them on just one leg but make sure you wear them on both legs for Indian wear. Natalia has very short hair so doing her hair was definitely a challenge. To give her hair some bounce I curled it using a curling iron. For Indian wear you have to use kajal for the eyes - I think it’s a given. Every Indian woman’s makeup is incomplete without kajal. Finally, I used scarlet red lipstick and a deep bronze blush to finish off the look. The final look is out here. Try and experiment with red this festive season. Would love to hear back your festive fashion stories.
