Dover street market Print & Colour Adidas H&M Icebound

STORY Dover street is a place where fashion meets creative and open minds who are always seeking for something new and edgy to highlight unique personalities. The Collection for this market is based on the industrial revolution in 18th century London. In this collection I wanted to create something that belongs to London and tell stories from the past. Main inspirations are rust and heavy dust clouds in factories, hard work and dream of a better life. Colour pallet is based on rust, dark brown and grey shades that were common in work wear uniforms. The menswear collection is for A/W 2017/7. An important role in this collection play used textiles and materials that are transformed into new garments. One of the main reasons for upcycling textile material is to transform fashion into a more sustainable form. That creates a feeling of the past. A time when people recycled fabric and made new garments from old ones. Using felting technique I combined jersey fabric with chunky hand knitting in jumpers. Most of the garments have left with raw edges to emphasize on poor conditions in factories and leave more worn out effect. This collection is a breath of the past that reminds us about luxuries lifestyle we can live and enjoy nowadays.

COLOUR & PRINT

STORY This collection is based on the Deep Summer trend Spring/ Summer 2016/17. This trend story line is all about mystical places and late nights that are filled with adventures. Combining deep ocean blue colours with more structural pattern gives a feeling of balance between natural and man-made environments. The colour palette is mainly inspired by the ocean, focusing more on the greener base that embeds a sophisticated feeling, while still including some shades of blues to emphasize on connotation towards water. The two core inspirations that are used are – the legend of the underwater city, Atlantis. A mythical place filled with treasures and adventures behind its walls. The second main source of inspiration is the classical art nouveau architecture and lifestyle in the 30’s that is all about late night parties and living an extravagant life. Mystical underwater theme inspires colour story while the art nouveau style from the past is used as an inspiration to create beautiful prints and panel structures on garments. Instead of a 2D print technique, this collection is developed with a combination of print, foils and panels. This adds a more luxurious look to casual ready-to-wear garments that are targeted towards the mid-level market.

STORY Collaboration collection with Adidas focuses on performance wear. All garments are functional and designed for an active lifestyle. This collection is made for womenswear spring/summer 2016/17. Adidas is a well-known sportswear brand in the world, coming second after Nike. Up to date, Adidas have been collaborating with different designers such as: Stella McCarney, Mary Kantrazour, Kenza and many other well-known designers. I wanted to create garments that are energised and clean in silhouette and colours. So instead of using additional prints as a key detail in this collection, the intention is to enhance the focus on the iconic Adidas 3 stripes. They appear through panels and colour blocks on leggings, performance shirts and vests. Most of the garments are designed to be form fitting to increase performance quality and speed. High-intensity training is done better when the outfit fits more like a second skin but in a daily routine, it is not always about intense workouts. Therefore, the collection is layered with loose crop tops and hoodies that gives out a more relax vibe. This combination of outfit is perfect for more relaxing workouts like yoga. This collection is inspired from the Holi colour festival that celebrates love and healthy, clean lifestyle, emphasizing more on health than body-image. The main inspiration came from the fitness vlogger that promotes self-loving and acceptance to our bodies as they are while incorporating fitness to improve one’s health. The website Blogpilates, is uploading videos not only about workout plans and diets, but also about positive body image. The colour palette is inspired from tropical beaches. What could be more energizing than sunshine and palm trees? Therefore, the Adidas collection main colours used are lime green, banana yellow, grey and classical black and white combinations. This collection is designed for women that loves colour, but still want to be classy.

Story

Diffusion collection for H&M is for the Autumn/Winter 2016/17. Original graduate collection is based on the sustainable and slow fashion principle. H&M is a well known high street fashion brand that is currently the only one that uses Eco friendly materials as their unique selling point. They pay a lot of attention to product development and realization in more sustainable and ethical ways. This collection is based on womenswear, created to target a wider range of consumers between the age range of 20- 40 years old. They love minimalistic colour palates and clean cuts, but at the same time are looking for interesting details that would incorporate more edge through the pre-existing classic-look. The colour palette is based on a mixture between cold and warm winter tones. The collections inspirations are based on Mongolian mountains during the winters and ever-changing water nature. Outfits are created to be functional and practical, but the same time keeping a certain femininity to the design. Garments are mostly loose, starting with shirts that have slight drape elements to wide flowy trousers with an elegant touch. As it is for an Autumn/Winter collection, chunky knit cardigans and coats are included to re-emphasize that. This collection uses print that resembles earth cracks as it is inspired by the Aral Sea that has dried out due to water pollution and waste that has been plunged in by the fashion industry.

icebound

Icebound

by definition means frozen. Something that time can not affect. This collection is created for the Autumn/ Winter 2016/2017 season. The main concept for this collection is to create timeless garments that would promote ethical and slow fashion. Creating slow fashion garments that one could adapt to upcoming trends. Garments that are timeless. This collection is addressing sustainability issues while emphasizing on slow fashion; the main inspiration for this collection is water and it’s ever changing nature. Then, as the research developed, I looked into Mongolians and their lifestyle in the wilderness, the natural environment. I seek inspiration not only from their lifestyle and culture but also their religion which is based on Buddhism. Garments silhouette emphasizes on protection not only from the cold weather, but also from dangers that people face living in the wilderness. In order to emphasize more to the theme, coats are made with wider shoulder and bigger sleeve silhouettes. Pleated details that are seen on garments slightly resembles the look of an armour. When it comes to sweatshirts and trousers, they are constructed using panels and draping techniques that symbolises water’s ever changing nature. Water is mainly associated with its liquid state, but it also has many other states., it coexists on earth and surrounds us in different forms. It can be in a solid state as ice and a gaseous state as steam. It also exists in forms of cloud, fog, snow and dew. Outfits give a minimalistic vibe that reflects on the Buddhism philosophy. This feeling is created by incorporating a colour palette that is inspired by Mongolian landscapes. Starting from warm shades of grey to the cooler shades of ice blue. The main message of the collection is to slow down, breathe and enjoy the time one has on this earth by cherishing everything without taking for granted.
