Pastel Suede The pastel suede trend is filled with muted colors and various silhouettes. Despite the concentration on outerwear, brands are embracing different

silhouettes for

the material, such as trousers, blouses and dresses. Structure is a large focus within this trend as well. Designers play wtih various fabric weights to create unique focal points on the garments. Finally, the colors are reminiscent of your grandmother’s powder room or a springtime stroll through the park. They evoke a sense of comfort and lightness.

Athletic Wear Lately, there has been a surge of activewear on the runway. One thing that has also been very present, is the essence of sport. From motocross to boxing to sprinting, many designers chose to gain their inspiration from more uncommon sports. This lead to collections filled with crop tops, loose shorts, and windbreakers for

White Out “The

little

black

dress

is

officially old-school, and a new cascade of white is taking its place this season. The amount of designers accentuating their clothing with an all-white color scheme was astounding for Spring 2015. From activewear to elegant ready to wear, white out looks seemed to be one of the constants in many collections. With its versatility and clean appearance as a boring solid with a high-end, fashionable appeal.

Gingham Plaid Multiple silhouettes grazed the runway this season featuring plaid. Multiple color schemes from yellows, to blues, to reds were amongst the plaid color palette for Spring. Despite its usually preppy reputation, the pattern is being used in many more applications, such as crop tops, ponchos, and high waisted trousers. With the amount of plaid displayed in SS15, it is apparent this print is a classic and is also here to stay.

Minimalist Loafer The loafer was updated with angular details such as sharp edges and square toes having a directional feel and adding interest to basic shapes. Meanwhile, the essence of the standard loafer was seen in a variety of new hybrid styles, including the slingback, the mule and the slipper. Loafers evolve into sleek interpretations, updating the menswear-inspired looks with long, pointed toe shapes and smooth box leathers.

Waist Pouches The fanny pack may seem retro to some, but SS15 brought them back in full force. Not only is there variety in color, but in shape as well. Triangle and rectangle formats were the most common. However, some displayed embellishments

while

others

remained sleek in design. For many of these looks, the waist pouch acts as a detailed focal point for the viewer.

Monastic Zen Monastic Zen explores a new and complex purity. Timeless in essence with a pared-back aesthetic, silhouettes are simple with graceful long layers worn over slim pants, softly belted for a chic urban appeal.
