Nestled in the foothills of North Carolina, Hancock & Moore practices the time-honored tradition of building upholstery
furniture. Consisting of two manufacturing plants with close to 400 employees and 265,000 square feet, Hancock & Moore artisans spend 50 weeks a year building furniture in a family-like environment. Known to house the broadest leather inventory in the industry, Hancock & Moore believes that the distinction in fine furniture is all in the details. Researching trends from the fashion industry, Hancock & Moore incorporates details such as quilting, branding, painting, finishing and lacing into our designs. All products are hand made and built to order - no two pieces will be exactly alike. To this day, up to 80 hours are spent handcrafting a piece of Hancock & Moore furniture. Every sofa, chair and ottoman bears the signature of the artisan who created it, reflecting the hard day’s work that went into its construction. To Hancock & Moore, custom-made furniture is the purest form of self-expression. That is why we have spent the past 40 years creating furniture exactly as you envisioned, making it truly as unique as you are.

The Hickory Chair Furniture Co. began one hundred and twelve years ago in Hickory, North Carolina with a single product and a simple vision. The product was a made-to-order dining chair. The vision was to combine the authenticity of classic craftsmanship with the efficiency of modern manufacturing. In the decades since, our product range has evolved into an assortment of timeless designs, drawn from significant periods and places, and from the talents of some of the world’s most respected designers. Our original vision, however, remains unchanged. Our company is still guided by a genuine commitment to custom craftsmanship and timely service. Our style is still distinguished by an authentic, timeless spirit. And our furniture is still made to order and made to last, by a team of talented and attentive artisans. We are proud that almost 90% of our furnishings are made in our Hickory, North Carolina workroom.

Pretty Is As pretty does and at Highland House we believe the world could use more of it. More civility. More thoughtfulness. More authenticity. Call us old fashioned, but we believe manners matter. We believe graciousness and gratitude are nonnegotiable; that thank you notes are a must. The same is true of furniture. We know that what’s on the inside matters as much as how it looks on the outside. Crafted in North Carolina our pieces start with the proportions of a sketch and we couple that with refined materials to make furniture that is thoughtfully scaled for today’s rooms, solidly constructed using old world techniques, and tastefully tailored in an array of fashionable and beautiful textiles. Timeless, sophisticated, and decidedly modern, Highland House is dedicated to being a custom house for the best interior designers and boutique retailers in the world.

or over four decades, Maitland-Smith has been creating exquisite and unique decorative accessories, lighting, elegant mirrors and accent furniture. Founded by a London antiques dealer with the eye of a connoisseur, Maitland-Smith has carried on a tradition of creating stunning accents for the home of the highest quality. From the beginning, our many workrooms have been artisan based and employ time-honored techniques developed before the machine age. Many of these skills date back to the world's earliest civilizations and are associated with fine quality furniture and decorative arts. Maitland-Smith is well-known for many hand-crafted specialties, including hand carved tropical mahogany, hand cut and inlaid exotic wood veneers, lost wax case metal mounts and decorative objects, as well as, traditional vegetable tanned and hand-tooled leather. We draw inspiration from great works from the 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. We work in design collaboration with design partners Corey Damen Jenkins, Celerie Kemble, Susan Hable Smith, Tony Duquette Studios and its president, Hutton Wilkinson, and with Scarborough House. We invite you to explore our nearly endless furniture, lighting and accessory collections.
