It’s All in The Filling 5. Take out your chilled pie crust that you made previously and allow it to come to room temperature. While the dough softens begin greasing a standard size pie dish. 6. Begin rolling out your pie crust and pressing it into the greased dish . 7. Spoon apple pie filling into the pie crust. 8. Cut butter into very small pieces and sprinkle over the apples. 9. Roll out the remaining pie crust. Cut into 1/2 inch wide strips that are long enough to cover the pie.
Finishing touches 10. Place one layer of strips across the pie, over the apples, spacing strips about 1 inch apart. Do not press the edges down. 11. Put down another layer of strips across tje pie, perpendicular to the first layer of strips. Weaving each strip over and under the first layer of strips to creat a lattice effect. (alternate your weaving from strip to strip). 12. Press down on the edges of your pie crust to seal the top and bottom layers together. 13. Brush egg wash lightly around the edges of your pie, and cover the pie crust lattice work. 14. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until top is golden brown and juices are bubbling.
