The Best Staff
The safety and care of your child is at the forefront of our minds as we carefully select our camp staff. Many of our camp counselors have grown up at the Y, so they know the program, traditions and values that our camps offer. At the Madison Area YMCA, our camp staff attends 40 hours of training and must successfully complete a rigorous background check and interview process. Training includes CPR, First Aid, AED, bullying prevention, child abuse prevention and bus safety. To supplement our highly-trained aquatics staff, many camp counselors are also American Red Cross certified lifeguards. Our counselors are dedicated to making this summer the best ever!
Field Trips
Each Camp at the Madison Area YMCA goes on a variety of field trips throughout the course of the summer. Examples include Liberty Science Center, Funplex and the Turtleback Zoo. For camp weeks that include a field trip, the registration fee cannot be prorated if a camper chooses not to participate in the field trip.

Campers sleep in tents based on gender and age, weather permitting. Dinner, breakfast and lunch is provided on overnights. Tents and cooking utensils are provided. Overnights are held indoors at the Madison Area YMCA’s Family Center during inclement weather.
