MEDIA KIT EXAM
Pitch Letter To: Scott.Carlson@chronicle.com Subject: Buildings & Grounds: Oklahoma State University to unveil building Dear Mr. Carlson, We have the greatest homecoming in the nation, the brightest school colors and a topnotch education system. Oklahoma State University has taken every step possible to make its campus the leader in student opportunity. But things are getting even better at OSU. Learning facilities and technology systems throughout the campus are slowly being enhanced to give students everything they need to learn. After a $20 million donation to OSU from T. Boone Pickens, a well-known oil and gas executive and alumnus from OSU, the university is officially unveiling a state-of-the-art building for the School of Media and Strategic Communications. The building development has been hidden from the public since construction began in May 2012, and will be unveiled on June 3. With the excitement this unveiling brings, a story of its opening would be ideal for The Chronicle of Higher Education. Your stories have been consistently great, which includes the coverage of other university’s architecture and building additions. Covering the building unveiling would be a natural fit in the Buildings & Grounds section as well as in the Events section on your website. The content could be uploaded as soon as the building is unveiled. If you are interested in writing about the new School of Media and Strategic Communications building, I can assure you that my team would cooperate with any writers or photographers that cover the event. I can also arrange interviews with Burns Hargis, OSU’s president, as well as T. Boone Pickens. Please let me know how I could be of help. My direct phone line is 405-627-0722. I will call you on Friday, March 29, to discuss this story. Thank you for your time and consideration.
