Celebrating 125th birthday of Dr. Radhakrishnan Sarvepalli Happy Teachers Day :)

sorry tea-chers I’ve read a poem titled ‘First Day at School’ and there is a line: “Tea-cher. The one who makes the tea”. Silly but seems some time true. A teacher boils the skills of student, tea leaves of hard work, sugar of patience, milk and few more ingredient and makes a good tea, a good student. For me teacher is just not a simple human being, they are the one who turns beings into human. Well the germs of corruption is causing plague in education system as well as teachers. And sometime I think that the future of young generation is in wrong hands. The dignity of teachers have been challenged many times in this decade and it will be challenged in future too so its in the hand of these generation maker how will they going to maintain their dignity in the coming challenges. This month we’ve tried to bring out the evil out of teachers in our cover story but at the same time we have tried to put forward the teachers who haven’t bowed in front of these evils. There is no intention to hurt feeling of any teacher or teacher community but if our words have felt to any we apologize for that. It is undeniable that teachers are the maker and designer of next generation. So why not our teacher utilize this golden opportunity to shape our nation’s young generation in the right way. And there are teachers who has initiated to shape the future of youth in the right direction. We wish every single teacher a very happy teachers day. Feel proud that you have got a chance to make a difference.

It is undeniable that teachers are the maker and designer of next generation. They should use this power and must make a difference.

COMMENTS

Very well written magazine, should easily inspire the younger generation. Since most of the youth would not be able to recognize the freedom fighters, it would help them a lot if there names are also given, with brief comments about their role. B.D. Bhargav

Very nice effort from MAD pages & team. Congratulations MAD pages and thanks too for encouraging youth. Akash Soni

YOUTH

Fearless? What is meant by it? The most common answer will be having no fear!! Is it so? No, it means conquering your limitations, doing beyond what is said to be possible. It’s a phase that if you don’t have fear you are fearless, and that is impossible everyone have fear to something, or someone. It’s all about how you face the things and situations with all your guts, not thinking of the pain you will have anyway. Daring is the first stage of being fearless, and doing an action to make a change is its last stage. If you see from a view you will find everyone is fearless in some aspect and are fear full in some other aspect, it’s the rule of nature, everything should be balanced. A very well known name in our history is Chandrashekhar Aazaad. The man who got the suffix Aazaad for his fearlessness only, as he joined Indian co-operative movement and was put behind the bars at an age of 15 only. He never got by the Britishers, there was not a single man to catch him. He was an expert in disguise and was a terrific leader. Everyone knows how he died, but not this that he was of 25 years of age only when he got wing’s. Let me just acknowledge you his martyrs in my terms. He had a fear of being caught by the policemen but it was his fearlessness that made him shot himself and he just died ‘aazaad.’

There is yet another bustling trend in college culture- jamming. Its all about just sitting together, chilling and savoring music.

T

hese days, jamming it up in college campuses seems the right thing to do for college going music enthusiasts. Jamming, as such, is not a new idea to music frenzies, but the newest in this direction is orchestrating these sessions in colleges. Usually, jamming involves a gathering of music lovers around malls, restaurants, music stores, open ground or any other youth rush area and playing some impromptu high beat music. For ages, jamming has been the most loved idea for young musicians to meet up and share ideas all whilst having fun with different genres of music; from completely strange street musicians who happen to run into each other to professionally devised sessions for recording and publicizing music, jamming colligates it all. Outdoing the conventional college band performances and superstar

8

performances for which college students would be ready to shell out huge bucks once, these sessions have made their way into college campuses and have gained much popularity. The idea is to simply pull together in that lakeside of your college or that central park which most of the time is the love birds' adda or that stadium which was apparently made for sport activities, and, how could one miss the college canteen, which is our music lovers' most favorite adda and play together some hard core music that gets into your nerves. And all that is spontaneous, without any prior improvisation. So, jamming becomes more of chilling out than a sangeet ka riyaaz. Himal, a Bangalore based college student, who is a guitar fanatic says, “Jamming is like, you just meet up people who share your passion for

Jam session is a one in which expert musicians come together on stage whereas jamming is just another informal get-to, the ambience is more relaxed and the only purpose is to rock and roll.

music and start playing. One starts, and then everyone joins. From amateurs to people who don't know any bit about music, such sessions are a treat to everyone; some play instruments, some are on vocals, some simply join in chorus, and some even start dancing. I rather call it, a fun with music hangout. With good talents and fun, the whole of it works out fantastic. Some may keep their chops up while it's no less for others too may simply sit around

and enjoy, dance or cheer the players. Many may not know, jam sessions and jamming are entirely different. A jam session is a one in which expert musicians come together on stage and play their established songs with all technical sound and light arrangements. This happens on a professional front, intended to release songs in public. On the other hand, jamming, which our college students are fond of, is just another informal get-to, the ambience

We bring you 5 easy DIY steps to organize a gala style jam session in your own college campus

{

Figure out who's got that kinda pitch and indulgence into music. Make a community of at least ten to fifteen such people and then gang up on jamming. You are the ones who will pioneer the sessions. And remember, do include a good guitarist in your group 'cause guitar strings draw people more than anything.

}

Call on your adda. A one you can hijack anytime you want to. The adda should, preferably, be open and the ambience should be comforting where you loosen up and enjoy in your style.

{

Publicity- that's the success mantra for any new venture. And so is here. Make sure that everyone knows about your session and your adda is assessable to everyone. A notice on college and hostel notice board and some flyers will serve the purpose well.

}

Crew around the adda and start playing. If possible, arrange a projector at the venue and play karaoke as visuals. This would encourage those people who aren't well versed with the lyrics.

{

Most important of all, keep the environment welcoming, light and friendly. Include everyone. Live it more like a music party than a jam session.

is more relaxed and the only purpose is to rock and roll. The jam gets rolling around 7 or 8 in the evening, right when the college students stir up from their power nap after those long exhausting lectures. Another buzzing trend is a midnight jam, in which hostel students gather at midnight and relish music for an hour or two. Be it an evening one or a midnight one it all sets in with one or two, who start playing instruments in the adda, gradually more and more folks join in and the mood soars higher. For the most part, jams are frequented by guitarists, key board players, drummers and vocalists while some others simply get in whimsically and all this finally makes a crowd of about fifty to sixty people. The genre of music is usually rock and jazz with R&B, soul and funk making a place recently. From pop star Rihanna and wrapper Eminem to their own wonderful compositions, our youngsters play them all. Surprisingly, bollywood numbers are hardly found on jam chartbusters.

Jamming it up in colleges has got many advantages. These happy hours set in a mood of entertainment which is very important to stay relieved from stress, which normally builds up due to burden of studies Precisely, what happens is, the group starts on something like jazz, which gives way to rock which again may give way to anything from blues to trance. One never knows who might show up or what might happen next. And the thing continues for the next two to three hours. Ashna Chandrakar, a law student from

10

Raipur, who has been attending jams for almost two years explains, “We do not decide on any particular genre. We just play anything and everything. A vocal is going on and then suddenly someone else pops up with another song, which may or may not be entirely different from the previous one. That's how it goes on.” Younkers even get grooving on the beats while some others simply lend their ears to their friends. Most college groups jam once a week, some others jam fortnightly and other busy groups manage to jam monthly. And this latest fancy amongst youngsters has got a thumbs up from psychologists too. According to them jamming it up in colleges has got many advantages. These happy hours set in a mood of entertainment which is very important to stay relieved from stress, which normally builds up due to burden of studies. A good dose of music acts as a stress buster. Apart from that, it fosters a bond between people who share a common interest. In a way, it's a platform for music lovers where they can discuss their ideas and learn a lot from each other. DJ Rafael tells us, “A college jam is not just a hang. It gives a chance to showcase one's own composition and create other different compositions that wouldn't happen if it wasn't a jam session. When one showcases a composition and gets cheers and applauds for the same, it gives him the confidence to move further in the same direction and who knows the next Enrique is from your own college group.” Part time singer Joy Thomas says, “I got all my gigs from going to jam sessions. For groups who really love music, it's a must do thing.” What we make out from all this is that among many others, jamming has definitely become a not-to-miss thing in college life. This happening thing is no less than partying at your fav club on a weekend, might prove even better for music freaks.

HOSTEL

-Suraj Patra

M

oving forward in the life passing the golden period from a reputed school, time for taking admission in college and having dilemma whether to choose hostel or to stay in pg is the most probable question among freshers. But the student staying in hostel can only explain what life is? What is the importance of being in a hostel? The day you step into the hostel premises it teaches you what the way to live is. The first change in life is the parents, the position of parents is replaced the warden under whom you have to spent the successive hostel life. He or she is the person who teaches you how to find in an elder person, before leaving how to inform you're in charge and after parents there is somebody near you who cares for you. In 2005 a famous word has been banned by Supreme Court due to which most of the fresher's arrive by a delightful smile on their face the word is “RAGGING”. Although ragging is completely banned in India but then also there's a terror among freshers, whenever a senior pass by. But the most amazing thing is that the hostel allows you to make direct contact with a senior. Now what's so special about senior? Senior itself defines that a person who teaches you only good things, who can stop you when you are in wrong path. The person from whom life you can take inspiration. The gap of hard subject conversion to easy subject

is filled by seniors. Who scold us during our negative work and pays bill when we are together? A hand which tells us we are always here for you and only you (Is that true? Of course not but in my case, it's true). That's why a word is always used in case of senior “sir/madam”. Beyond all these, there is an ultimate complaint among the hostelers (except few) about food. The thing that all hostelers hates is the food provided in the mess. Someone has well said “anything gains its importance only when it is lost” and I think whosoever has said that is may be a hosteler. When we are at home we don't feel the importance of the food cooked with affection by our sweet mom but ask hosteler how they miss it during their hostel period. Equality, individuality, dressing sense, overall development, and independent are tough in hostel. How to convert a small happiness into a big party is only taught in hostel. The unforgettable birthdays are celebrated only in hostel. Many of us may have heard that unity is strength, but is only explained in hostel. The adjustment among difference, dislikes, and modulation of anger is learnt in hostel. The person once stay in hostel can stay anywhere in the world because hostel teaches you everything you need to live. So, come and enjoy being a part of hostel because Zindagi Na Milegi

Dobara.

ave you seen the new commercial ad of a TATA tea flashing in every tv channel? A husband, politician, working on his election works. His wife says elections are coming mantriji and now you will have no time for me and you will ignore me before that make a tea for me from your hand. And after making tea she adds “mujhe ignore karoge toh chalega lekin hame (women) ignore mat karna 49% vote auratoo ke hai. Sarkar bana bhi sakti hai gira bhi sakti hai.” The power of 49%; this is what iifa held at Macau raised the concern. Every bollywood celebrity spoked the sparkling words 'women have the power of 49%' and have appealed to vote this time. This is the good way to spread awareness. But why is our society is always male dominant? Not a new question, people struggled and fought against ill practices for the betterment of dignity of women in society. Some says that this day is more better for women than those, of course not. In fact the system of our society never allowed better things for women whether it may be today’s

modern age or the past times. No one can forget the incidence of Delhi. Some days back whole country burst with anger after Delhi rape case. You know why that case is know as Delhi rape case because those criminals haven't raped a girl instead they raped whole Delhi. People have fought for her, demanded severe punishment for the criminals and government suppressed the whole movement with their false promises of making strict laws. How can we expect that the rapist standing in government will make strict laws against themselves and their kind. The girl died and the revolution due to her also died. And once again a girl is raped in barkha dutt @BDUTT Don't tell your daughter she can't go out alone at night. Dont restrict the clothes she wears. Teach your sons better. Mumbai. People are again protesting but will there be any justice? Don’t know. Every news source (news channels, newspaper, etc) has already told the whole story and every body knows who is guilty but we cannot do anything. Sometimes I think that why shouldn’t I raise the weapons and finish those culprits but this can only be done in films not in real. We have to put faith in our judiciary system and hope someday it will give justice. In twitter Barkha Dutt (Editor & Journalist) tweeted that “Don't tell your daughter she can't go out alone at night. Dont restrict the clothes she wears. Teach your sons better”. And I support it, our

ministers comments that one of the cause of woman being raped is their outfits, not only ministers many common citizens think so. If you also think so then please broaden your mind. As Barkha Dutt tweeted that don’t restrict your daughter & sister to wear clothes she wants to or going out at nights. Teach your son to behave well and respect the girls and women. So the clothes criticizing citizens of India learn to respect the female and don’t judge & criticize any girl with her clothes. And the boys who think that eve teasing is not a crime it’s just fun and they do it for fun, they should be punished severely. BBC has made a documentary regarding women and the title of the documentary is “India A Dangerous Place to Be a Woman - BBC Documentary” (its link is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5Zvwje3 c50). This documentary cannot be simply described in just words you should watch it once. This documentary covers the acid attacks, molestation, Delhi rape and other things which would be proving that India is a dangerous place to be a woman. How shameful is this for the India. And until we don’t change our mind set more convict are going to born and there will be more victims of these convicts. Now no more bhasanbaji, no more complaining, the power of 49% is in hands of women and it is the power to change. The women can make the government and they can also collapse it. So are you going to vote this election? So this is my connection of hope that this time our country will be going to choose the right person in power. If we all change our mind sets and start respecting the women then we can hope for a right place of & for our women.

The Illusive Perception

-Ani Abhishek Sharma

It is often said that teenage makes or breaks an individual. It decides how your life's gonna pan out. For Aryan, this indeed was true.

I

t was half past two in the afternoon. A vibrating phone broke his sound slumber. He received the call. His girlfriend had been calling to wake him up. He hums a few words, and with a promise to call back soon, he gets up to start yet another monotonous day. His father hadn't spoken to him for days, for no apparent reason. The only times he spoke to him were when he wanted the doors locked or when he wanted to scold him for wasting too much money. His mother wasn't particularly in the best of health. But being a working woman and a good domestic keeper, she had no leaves. He used to talk to her at times. His sister has been skipping school for about a month now due to hepatitis. Though she's always jovial and lively, he knows she's not really well. And now him, Aryan, a college going undergraduate pursuing a Bachelors' degree in medical sciences. For all he ever knew, he never wanted to become a doctor. He just keeps to his room and barely speaks to anyone. For all he wants are the good times to be back. Aryan loves his family, his friends and his girlfriend. They all love him back too. But the problem he faces is quite unknown to him. His peers seem to be really happy with their lives. They all seem to enjoy life. But then what is life without the parcel of problems, he thinks. It was about a year back, when he had cleared the PMT. Everybody seemed happy for his accomplishments, perhaps happier than him. He was just relieved that he did get into a

14

college. Each time his life took him to a new level, everything had unfolded itself in an automatic manner such that he never had a chance to complain. He felt the same way now. Getting into a med school didn't seem quite a deal. Aryan thanked his luck for that. But that's when things came dwindling down. He wasn't doing any good in his studies, though he had been hailed as one of the brightest. He wasn't much of a sports person either. The only good thing he knew about college was his girlfriend. He at least had someone he could talk to or roam around with. Days went by like this, and he progressively became bored of life. Fights with everyone ensued. He wasn't satisfied with himself, nobody actually was. He was wasting all his potential, he knew that. But he was very complacent. He didn't feel a need to change anything. But as time went by, everything seemed to break apart. All his relationships, with everybody, seemed to take a strain. He wondered why. Exams came. He didn't do well. Till now, all Aryan had done was to bask in the glories of his past. The guy was plain uninspired. He was tired of his parents fighting; he was upset with quite a few family issues. And now that he felt that Aparna had a life to live too, he didn't want to keep her back being his agony aunt. He had stopped sharing much with her. He at times used to cry while talking to her. He used to cry during their fights. He had become a complete man without a spine. This was the present. And he wanted to change it, but was too demoralized about it. He had made peace with the scenario.

Yes, today I'm a lost face, A face lost in the world's rat race, But time is bound to change, A while when no one remain estranged. They say when it's not well, it's not the end. Aparna saved him. She just supported him. She didn't criticize him over the moon, just the little requisite amount. She asked him to channelize his energies in the right direction. And she listened to him. She suddenly seemed more caring, she seemed like an angel. She made him feel good about himself. And as time passed by, things did change for him. And yes, I hope a time will come, When the darkness would be engulfed by the scarlet sun, A time when deeds would pay dividend, A time as foretold by the lore and the legends. He talked to his parents. Talking and speaking up is what changes the perception of you. People will misunderstand and keep misunderstanding you until you decide otherwise. His parents needed to know that their son's still the same person they used to know. Ever since he started speaking less and lesser, they mistook it for his ignorance towards them. For Aryan's parents, their only son had become estranged. But when there's love, lament doesn't last long. His parents knew he still was the same person when Aryan spoke of the challenges he was going through. His difficulties mayn't seem the mightiest, but you only know it when you go through it. The best way to tell someone about their shortcomings is to tell them bluntly in a polite and humble manner. Or we human beings are so dumb that we won't accept things we don't like even if, at the back of our minds, we do know it. Aryan now is one amongst the top students in his University.

He now takes tuition classes in his spare time. His father is his super hero again and his mother his best friend. But he still hates his sister for being irritating at times, but that I guess is okay. She's a younger sibling after all. So, friends, talk. God endowed us with the power of speech. Words are the worst weapons and the most marvelous medicines. Use them in the latter way. There's already a great deal of hatred in the world. Teenage is the most challenging phase in one's life. You don't really know what's going on while you think you do. One WILL need guidance at some point. Acknowledge this fact. We're not mature enough to understand the dynamics of life completely. Talking and speaking out your minds are the best ways to phase out the problems of teenage life. Aparna saved Aryan's soul. She saved him from shattering down to pieces. She turned the guy around. And she didn't do anything previously unexplored. She just knew the words to say and the things to tell. She showed him the vista in an otherwise dense dark canopy of doom. Really, we human beings are wondrous creatures. All we need to get back on our feet is someone to put their faith in us. A few inspiring words and there you go‌..Magic! Friends! Always extend a helping hand for the ones in need and accept one when in need. So, the moon once again has, Turned full and I feel like to waltz and jazz, But you know what? I'll not get lost as King Tut! I'm not the sun or a star, Or an unsung hero of a great war, I'm one of the craters on the might moon, To be known as a superstar soon.

Young 19-year-old amateur photographer Francis Prior has found photographic success using the most unlikely of models dead bugs he found in his parents' house. He photographer uses a Canon 550D with microscope objectives, also known as PLAN's. Prior mounts the objectives to the camera via some bellows and an adapter. Lighting is done by two IKEA unidirectional LED lamps. He stacks many photos, moving the subject in increments to get each portion in focus before stacking all the images in a software package known as Zerene Stacker. Prior captures the smallest of details invisible to the human eye. After rounding up dead spiders, flies and beetles from his parents' home in. Francis sets them up in his insect studio. The incredible images can feature up to 100 shots layered on top of one another - and each one takes up to six hours to produce. (Francis Prior/BNPS.co.uk)

This picture was shot during the Sudan famine and it depicts a famine stricken child crawling towards an UN food camp, located a kilometer away. The vulture is waiting for child to die so that it can eat it. No one knows what happen to child, including the photographer himself who left the place as soon as the photograph was captured. But 3 months later he killed himself. And in his diary he wrote “Dear God, I promise I will never waste my food... So what's the reason of his suicide? Some people said he was in depression but in reality it was guilt that had emptied him and one day this guilt will surely kill the lives of people of India too.

India is a developing country and we are on the verge of making it a global power but between all these things the essence of true India has lost somewhere. Either it is because of our politician or because of us, don't know. We are no longer united, we don't care for feeling of anyone anymore, we have no longer respect or love for our country and most importantly we have forgotten our duty towards our nation and our society and the sad part is it happens because of we youth mostly. But youth is not solely important for these leaders, judicial system, society and every citizen has also their part in these changes. We Indians have the habit of forgetting every issue after a certain time. 16 December came, Delhi Rape Case happened, media covered the whole scenario, all the people's blood suddenly started boiling, we protested we fought for more than 3 weeks, government gave us false promise and end of all the protest whoosh!!! Do you really think that's the end of it? We all know nothing has changed after that female is still getting raped everywhere every time but now neither we care about all these because media hadn't covered this reports nor media care about it.

We Indians have the habit of forgetting every issue after a certain time. That's the problem we want publicity and when we realize the matter is getting older we forgot in place of reaching to the solution. Naxalite attack killed the leaders of congress in Chhattisgarh, whole India suddenly started thinking about the main problem, one week drama you forgot it, media forgot it and even the party forgot it. Aamran Anshan started again the blood of common man started boiling, every person saws the ray of hope, again government distracted all the innocent people and the India's most serious matter had

18

gone in dust-bin. Just because of this various spiritual guru's do shameless things in society and we can't give them punishment, we are lost. Have you ever thought why

It's the uttermost truth that blood of Indian people starts boiling when media hyped the matter and cools down when a new movie of any famous actor comes or a cricket match of India comes Tele-communication companies disables their SMS pack on friendship day and not on Independence Day or Republic Day? We only remember the death of our soldiers, works of our great leader on 15th August and 26th January and after that it is no more of use. Now the culture has changed so much that people even stopped sending SMS on these days, they only consider it as a holiday. For today's youth, valentine day is more important than mother's day or father's day and they thinks people who are worried about the country are boring. It's the uttermost truth that blood of Indian people starts boiling when media hyped the matter and cools down when a new movie of any famous actor comes or a cricket match of India comes. One photojournalist in Mumbai had raped, all the people even the media persons are again protesting this time, everyone is seeing a ray of hope this time including me but after some days god knows what happens people will again forgot and the ray will also get diminish. But don't worry once again the day will come when media will subtly hype any matter and we will again burst with the anger, once again we will fight or protest for that, and once again the blood will boil and AFTER THAT....

He began his own institute, the Ramanujan School of Mathematics (RSM). In beginning there were two students and within the course of 3 years there were 500 students enrolled. annual fees due to his poverty and this motivated Anand to start the Super 30 programme in 2002. Every year Anand hunts for 30 talented student who are from economically weak background and then he teaches them, provide study materials and lodging for a year. And he do all these without taking a single paisa from these children. And moreover he don’t accept any financial support from government as well as private agencies, he refuses donations also. He wanted to sustain Super 30 through his own effort. During 20032013, 281 students out of 330 have made it to the IITs. In the year 2008,09,10 all of the 30 students cleared the IIT-JEE examination. The efforts of Anand captured the eyes of Discovery Channel and they broadcasted a programme on Super 30. Anand Kumar is the example of an ideal teacher in today’s date where education has become a business and no more the social responsibility. MAD pages salute this unsung hero who has created a path for economically backward students to IITs.

ach human being on this earth can be never back by their own until a teacher has pushed up to. The word guru has a great and glorious meaning, which remains honest, humble and kind towards their students as well as their duties. They pushes and leads their students to their dream, to develop their own world image. A teacher gives the encouragement and motivation when students lose their confidence and they become the friend in worst times of students. They are the one who are responsible for making a responsible citizen of the country. The belief of people on humanity and truth is in their hands. They

are the one who cares student more or less as parents. Teachers are the winds which strong's the courageous young minds. No one can be as highly liberal, whole hearted and selfless as the teacher; one huge example is Dr. Radhakrishnan, a great teacher and a philosopher. He wished to celebrate his birthday as a day for all teachers instead of his own desire. What they teach in the classroom as a part of their job is the future of country, of world and of universe. They are the instructor of the future's echo. The lesson of this adventurous profession i.e. to guide the rising potential will remain forever.

T-Day t he teacher story

I

Lukesh Suryavanshi

ndia is the country where teachers are worshiped. Even the kings and emperor can’t defy the commands of their gurus. We have many extracts from our mythology which proves above statements. There is no need to tell how much important a teacher is in everybody’s life. A great example is coming in my mind King Chandragupta Maurya, disciple and student of the great Chanakya. Chandragupta was the student who obeyed and followed the commands of his teacher and he turned into a king from the common boy. There are very well proofs which validates his achievements under the guidance of his guru Chanakya and hence he is also popular as king-maker, Chanakya himself is very knowledgeable man. And he wrote Chanakyaniti, a great book. So it proves that a true teacher and their teaching can turn up your life into high levels. There are no limitations of examples which can prove you a teacher is the real friend, guide, support, source of inspiration for a student. Randomly searching on internet and I’ve seen a statement which states that: ‘A good teacher is like a candle it consumes itself to light the way for others’. Ahh! These statement brings out the whole character of a teacher. There are endless good things to tell about teacher but let’s face the facts those were the past times when teachers are treated like god, and the good words about teachers are mere fancy words a lot

different from harsh reality so what happen now? Why those values, trends, tradition have been degraded? Now teachers are no more friends of student they are ultimately friends of money, some by need, some by problems and some by greed. I’m not blaming them they are also humans, they too have a family and they have to satisfy their needs and requirements. But how far it is right that a teachers doing the wrong deeds to fulfil their desires. Our whole education system has lost its glory and so (sorry to say) the teachers too lost their dignity. We blame the ministers and others for spoiling the education system but do you think they are the only one who are responsible for it? No, we (teachers & students) are also equally responsible for that because we are following the wrong pattern of teaching. What I’m seeing is that we are manufacturing the degraded students from our school & colleges who will ultimately costs the progress of our nation. Lets accept the truth that our education system is flawed and this is done by us and the people to whom we’ve given the responsibility to look after it. The responsible persons who are chosen to built the generation are the teachers. Forgive me, for my words but are they the rightful person? Are those persons capable of becoming teachers? Are they doing their jobs rightfully? Aren’t they responsible in corrupting the education system? Aren’t they playing footsie with the future of youth? Aren’t they responsible for commercializing the education? There are many more unanswered question but they all point to one thing only- is our teacher deserves to be a teacher? There is no intention of insulting or hurting feelings of any teacher or teacher

COVER+STORY community. I only want to raise a problem that are our teachers are teaching for their job sake only. What I feel is that teaching is not a job it is a duty. Moreover I want to break the myth that the person who goes to school and college and teaches a batch of student is only teacher. Anyone who is educated and teaches is a teacher and it is the responsibility of every educated person to spread their knowledge. So whenever you share your knowledge be cautious- don’t teach the wrong things. Because it may result disastrous. Our ex-president Mr. Kalam quoted in his book that "My idea of education is to bring out the creativity of the individual". Maybe it is his personal thought but surely he hasn't quoted it wrong and I too feel that the main agenda of a teacher behind teaching is to enhance curiosity and creativity of students. A teacher should always be supporting the right ideas of a student but are our teachers feel it important rather than completing their syllabus. Well teachers are not wholly responsible our students are equally responsible for this situation. Why our teachers has been bound by the boundaries of subjects and syllabus? Why objective of education is marks-oriented and ultimately, jobs-oriented? What happen to knowledgeoriented education model? Our teachers are powerful creature because they are the designer and builder of the next generation but do you think they realize the value of this power, from the present scenario I think no. I hope you’ve watched the movie Paathshala and in the climax Mr. Sahahya (Nana Partekar) delivers a small speech and that speech defines the power and problems of a teacher and it is something like “Vidya daan, itna noble profession hai lekin is profession mey jo log aa gye hai teachers hai unko sabse kam tanqwaha milti hai jab koi paryaya nhi rehta tab sikshak banane ki iksha se log yaha aate hai bura lagta hai.... Yeh jo pesa tha shikshak, hamesa mujhe ishara karta rha hamesha mujhe aisa laga ki ek mauka mil jata hai nyi nyipidhi pidhikaka nirmaan nirmaan karmne karmne ke liye, ke liye, ek ek

24

zindagi kam pad jaati hai aise kaam ke liye... maine isko kabhi dhandha nhi samjha, hamesha mere liye yeh pesha hi rha this is how I treat. Aaj yahi profession ek dhandha ban gya hai ek commercialization aa gya hai”. This is a dialogue which has more deep meaning and is not meant for entertainment of people, it is meant for bringing out the problem in front of our youth. From past one & half decade the craze of becoming teachers has lost, in fact it is the last option for an educated person to become a teacher. This shows that the noble profession is no more noble for our younger generation, why? There is less money in this field that is why youth aren’t preferring this profession. But should money be the prior things for our youth, I think no. The teaching field is the field where a person can interact with the new generation and can play a vital role in enhancing the abilities of the next generation. If the teachers do there duties honestly apart from teaching then they can really make a difference in the development of our country. There is always a light of hope in the darkest also. May be we’ve lost the glory of teachers whosoever be responsible it doesn’t matter but at that same moment we’ve teachers who are struggling to bring back the glory of teachers. There are teachers who don’t join teaching profession as a last option. It is their passion and they don’t teach for job sake. They feel their responsibilities as a teacher towards the students, society and country.

The best teachers teach from the heart, not from the book

Education as a Business, Teachers as a Businessman

I

t cannot be denied that today education is a full fledged business, a huge amount of capital has been generated through this sector in this decade. In Prakash Jha’s movie Aarakshan, there is a scene where the minister says “Education se bada koi business nhi hai; paid service without guarantee”. This is not just a dialog of movie, it is the mirror image of today’s education system. I’m not talking about whole teachers community instead I’m talking a section of teachers society who are selling the education. It is unfortunate for this nation that today education is a business and teachers are businessman. There are many-many private & government schools & colleges where the business of education is done. For them student is the client and admission is a deal, now students of money are the preference of institutions rather than students of merit. The key term in this admission sector business which have evolved rapidly is management quota popularly know as MQ. Well everyone knows concept of MQ but in brief MQ is the process to take admission in colleges by giving donation (extra money excluding regular fees). Do you think MQ is the right thing? Business doesn’t stop here, it just the cover page. In many institutions teachers forces students to join their coaching centers. Once I’m talking to an owner of a coaching institute and he explains me the concept. ‘We hire teachers and pay them to teach in coaching classes plus if they bring more students from their institutions then we give them commission’ he said. I think teachers are not only the businessman they are

salesperson also. I don’t think that anyone can measure the depth of this business, from the top level to the lower grounds everyone has used their creativity to make education a great source of capital. Talking to few BA students, I get to know that they never attend colleges and they get 75% attendance in their college. They bribe their teachers and they give them 75% attendance. Once I’ve met a friend’s brother who is a student of PGDCA course and he says “yaar paise se sab kuch kharida ja sakta hai”, I asked how? He replied “our practical exams are coming and we have to submit a file but I haven’t created it so I gave a 1000 rupee note to my teacher and he gave me a practical file of previous year students”. After the IPO of facebook, its now the turn of this sector. We will be soon seeing stocks and shares of education in the BSE. I hope this is what the next move of the education businessman. No one has ever imagined that this is how our teachers will get corrupted. If there are teachers who sell the education then there are also the teachers who are trying to save the prestige of a teachers. I personally give a standing ovation to those teacher who haven’t bowed in front of corrupt education system. They know that if they do the corrupt things the same will be passed to their students and a batch of corrupt citizens will be formed and when they become officers or other they will spread the roots of corruption. I appeal to every teacher that education is not a business it is a social service so maintain the dignity of this noble profession.

e are totally aware of the way students are taught today by our teachers; teaching only for income deteriorated the image of a teacher. The dignity of word guru is lost somewhere. The corruption is like termite which is eating the trees of education but due to sincere teachers, who teach for the sake of knowledge not money, only the roots of education are now also intact. We can’t deny that there is a problem and if there is a problem then there will be solution also. Teachers are not corrupted, our society and system pressurizes intentionally and unintentionally to become them corrupt. Our government should understand that to make our country a superpower they should maintain the quality of education system. And this responsibility is taken by our teachers and teachers should be extruding the knowledge rather than to make money, so our government should think about these fellow citizens who are trying to put themselves as a part of ‘the’ noble profession. Private and government educational institutions should organize workshops and events specially for teachers so they can feel the importance of what they are doing. Once

26

I’ve heard a car company introduced an offer for teachers on purchasing cars and this is a good start to create a value for teachers. The corruption, price rise of daily goods and the salary given to teachers is somehow not sufficient to fulfill their daily needs. A system similar to the canteen for military persons should be provided to our teachers, military persons are guarding our nation so the teachers are creating the students who will lead this country. There are many good things started by private organizations for teachers, they deserve it and our society should value the importance of teachers and respect them. If you are a teacher feel proud that you’ve got a chance to serve the mother land with your knowledge. We whole MAD pages team thank every teacher for accepting the responsibility of social welfare by teaching the students and making a difference in every students life. Once Aristotle said that: “Those who educate children well are more to be honored than they who produce them; for these only gave them life, those the art of living well”. And our teachers deserve the honor Because they are doing the best of social commitments.

Dark Shadows -Agnivesh Mishra

Plucking my feather, withering my wings, Devil's of past, to me they whisper they sing. The songs of horror, the songs of pain, The whisper of fear, draught eye's with rain. They hit me, they beat me, they hold my hand then heave. They make me horrified deep to the core, They create in me sorrow, they create in me, sore. They are gone, then, also they sit beside me, They have the hunter to make me down; they have the key to ride me. Alas! Light of happiness, why can't it be hold. Why am I deprived, why am i sold. These days going through, increase these evil fellows, These devils are nothing but bad memories, my life's dark shadows.

Come on let’s sit

Who are they? Why are they? What's there role? When we start our school life, we met many persons and from many persons we met to that person who is our “TEACHERS"... And that teacher is our bole to "guru"..!! And that guru is the person jo sikhata pronunciation, manners, how to read, how to behave, how to learn and many more things!! 'Long list' hai actually me!! In short from nursery to 12th naah actually... Collage also and may be after collage also

We met many teachers from which we learn many-many things which they taught us. Sometimes smile kar ke... Toh sometimes angry face se darra ke... Toh sometimes thappad maarke... And sometimes bahot pyaar se… So there are many faces of our teacher through which they taught us. And they show there many faces Because they knew har baccha alag hota hai and har situation alag hoti hai So jaisi situation, jaisa baccha waise way hota hai unke smjhne ka And ek guru hi hota jo life ke har chapter ko face krrna sikhata, and har chapter me sahi decision lena sikhata hai End yeah! Fight krrna bhi sikhta with positivity, with hope, with smile. So teachers humare guidance hote hai In our life their role is very big!! Like many words, many comments, but in one word we can say awesome.!

CAREER PLANNING: How to Plan a Career Saurabh Verma

I

n a country where the career of a child is decided while the child is still in the womb, the importance of proper career planning has long been ignored (as also seen in the cult blockbuster Bollywood flick, “3 Idiots). The reason why most of the people either fail or are dissatisfied by their careers is clear and simple; they never had a career plan. The moment we step out of school and decide to join a professional/degree course, the first thing that comes to mind is the value of the course and the career that will follow. What we fail to realize is the fact that career planning doesn't start after the college education but before the school education is over. Career Planning is not a onetime process but a continuous one. You can plan your career while you are in school, in college or even when on a job.

28

타Understanding Yourself: The first step in the

process of Career Planning is Understanding of Self. In this step one is supposed to make a sheet of skills, passion, hobbies and interests. When you ask yourself clearly what your interests, skills and passions are you tend to understand where you currently are, what your abilities are and hence you move to the second step. 타Discovering: Discovering is the second step

of Career Planning where you do all the research work related to the list that you prepared on the first step. Researching on the careers available as per your interests and skills, help you develop your own niche and also provides a sense of satisfaction as compared to choosing a pre-determined career by someone else. In the process of discovering, one shall research the jobs/career available the responsibility the culture and also the skills that are required to progress at a steady pace in the chosen career. 타Deciding: Deciding, the third step is the most

this step one has to decide and finalize what one wants from a career by comparing different careers that are available as well as preparing a list of pros and cons to ascertain the risk of the decision. Understanding current situation and responsibilities, the advantages and disadvantages of all the options that are available to choose. 타Action Time: The most important step of Career Planning is the taking Actions on all the plans and research have been done. Without prompt and decisive action the whole process of Career Planning is nothing but waste. To take action one needs to create action plans based on the most current trends, up to date facts about all particular options, the action plan should be specific and detailed to ensure zero margin for error. Actions should be time bound and should be challenging but achievable, and should be aligned with the goals, values and interests.

Specific Questionnaires and tables to ascertain all the steps can be found at MAD pages website in the coming week.

nd now, finally, that much anticipated day has come- your first day at college. Usually, its a day of flashing smiles and new pinches. But for outstation students, with their parents bidding goodbyes, the smiles eventually transform into tears as the evening approaches. After all, they now have to live on their own in a hostel or a so-called homely PG. And staying away from home is indeed a hard nut to crack for these first-time-awayfrom-home newbies. But, what actually makes it a nasty experience? Here's a list!!

30

#1 Miss that maa ke hath ka khana

#5 A thoughtless roomie

Ya, that no doubt is a big down-down about living away from home. Those garam-garam rotis, on demand ice creams and pyaaz ke pakode are only a part of dream now. Mess ka boring khana is all you have to live on. And then too, if you get up late, the breakfast time is already over. Thinking of snacking on junk food everyday? We bet, that would itself become boring in a week. You can't eat restaurant stuff for long.

Amidst all the trouble you're facing, a pesky roomie may add up to all your problems. You would either get tired of adjusting or would consider kicking her out of your room.

#2 Safai bhi, shopping bhi! You were the princess of your home, from doing beds to getting even a hanky, your mumma would do it all for you. But, no more. Here in hostel you have to do everything on your own. No matter, that you haven't washed even a hanky yourself ever, here you have to do everything from laundry and bedding to shopping your utilities, all that, apart from studying.

#3 No TV Habituated of falling asleep only by watching TV? Oops! Here you won't get that also. The TV in your hostel is off by 10 or maybe your seniors don't even allow you to enter the TV room. And if its a PG, you've no other option than watching that boring serial with your PG wali aunty. So, you'd better try and ditch that habit of watching TV.

#4 Khadoos warden Now that, for most, is a very irritating part. The warden, or many call her/him gabbar, will have a problem with everything you do. You wear a sleeveless top and she might have a prob, you want to hang out with your friends and she might simply stare you badly on asking permission. Its no less for boys, at home you would counsel your mommy very easily for late night outings, but here you have a very strict in-time. And, bribing your hostel guard is not going to work, at least in the initial days.

#6 Ragging Well, this is the baap of all. No matter, how strict anti ragging rules are, your seniors are going to trouble you some way or the other. May be just an intro or a simple market duty, but all that becomes really troublesome when the baby juniors are already bothered about so many other things. But.. But.. But.. Not all is bad about living away from home. Though few, but definitely there are some perks of staying away from home.

#1 Late night texting and movies Your mom is not here to scold you for texting late at night or watching a movie on your laptop. You are your own marzi ka Malik in this. And thankfully no one is going to check your phone in the morning.

#2 Waking up late On that Sunday morning you can sleep as long as you want. No one is going to ring a wake up alarm or knock at your door continuously asking you to wake up and go to sabzi market with your mom.

#3 Wear what you want to You bought those rugged jeans or that mini skirt but it has been locked up in the closet for long 'cause your mom doesn't allow you to wear them..? In this case, you are in luck staying away from home. You can carry whatever you want to.

#4 No pushing into bathroom For boys, who hate to bathe, there's no more a compulsion to do so, 'cause unlike ghar pe there's no pushing into bathrooms by moms. No wonder, deodorant industry is flourishing.

H

ave you ever wondered how long it takes for you to fall in love with someone or how long you should wait before calling them? Here are fifteen exciting and rather interesting facts about the dating world. 1) The Average Person Will Go Out On A Date At Least 100 Dates Before They Finally Marry Is that why we all feel the need to move through the dating pool so quickly, because we want to crank out those one hundred dates as quick as possible? Either way, one hundred dates doesn't seem like a lot in the grand scheme of things. 2) The Most Common Time For Breakups Is Around Three To Five Months The start of a new relationship is always exciting. You can't stop thinking about them, you dream of them and you can't wait until you see them again. And then the 'honeymoon phase' is over. If you can survive the rough three to five month mark, then you may just have a keeper on your hands. 3) People Are More Likely To Fall For One

32

Another If The Location Of Their First Date Is More Exciting We love danger and excitement in our lives, no doubt, and those are the things that bond us to other people. Go dancing, see a concert, or anything you think you can bond over. Don't settle for the boring movie and dinner date. 4) Typically, The Ideal Time To Wait To Call Someone After Meeting Them Is Two To Four Days, Though No Longer Than Four To Five Days Is the age-old question answered? Sort of. As the uncertain nature of this fact indicates, you're probably best off following your gut, but these numbers are a good guideline. Whatever you do, don't call the day after meeting them as you'll look desperate. And Tweeting them isn't a replacement for a phone call. 5) People Tend To Make Decisions On Whether Or Not They're Attracted To Someone Within 3 Seconds This factoid comes to you courtesy of the University of Pennsylvania, where researchers studied data from over 10,000 speed daters. Within the first three seconds

almost everyone tested made up their minds as to whether or not they were attracted to someone. First impressions really do count. 6) It Takes A Couple An Average Of 6-8 dates To Start Seeing Their Relationship As Exclusive Sounds about right, though we don't exactly encourage counting dates to figure out where you stand with a person. Just go with whatever feels right! 7) Speed Dating Was Invented By A Rabbi In 1999 According to my sources, Rabbi Yaacov Deyo of Los Angeles invented speed dating as a way to get busy Jewish singles to meet each other. The concept quickly spread, and the rest, as they say, is history. 8) Studies Have Shown That Women Tend To Be Attracted To Men Who Wear Blue Blue tends to be the favourite color in America, Australia and Europe, and is associated more than any other color with friendship, sympathy, faithfulness, and confidence, so that might be a reason for this. Either way, the Blue Man Group seem to have it made. 9) Immediately After Tiger Wood's Affairs Became Public, Men Looking For Discreet Relationships Online Dropped By 47.5% Sometimes, a statistic tells it all; in 2009, every cheating man in America had exactly the same thought: She's going to look through my browser history. For better or worse, they escaped by the skin of their teeth, but we blame Tiger Woods with indirectly sparking thousands of fights between couples four years ago. 10) The Curve Of The Counter In A Bar Is Designed So Other Customers Can Easily Check Out Other Customers And here I thought it was just an elegant design pattern. Things are now starting to make sense. Same goes for those big mirrors they

have behind the counter - they're to help you check out the people behind you. If two people get to talking for longer, they start buying more drinks, possibly for each other. It's all about the money. 11 ) F o u r O u t O f Te n W o r k p l a c e Relationships Result In Marriage That's actually fantastically good odds. Though a lot of workplaces expressly prohibit flirting at work these days, and there is a good reason why: Those 6/10 that DO go bad? You still have to go to work with them the next day. 12) On Free Dating Sites, At Least 10% Of Accounts Are Scammers Keep your wits about you, ladies and gents, because there's a good chance that the attractive individual looking for love on that dating is not who they say they are. If you are arranging a meeting, always do it in a public place and never give out any personal details like bank accounts or your home address. If you feel that you have encountered a scammer, report them immediately to the website you're using. 13) Research Shows That It Takes Women 14 Dates To Know If They're Falling In Love, While It Only Takes Men 3 Let's face it: Men are creatures with short attention spans. They frequently lose interest in something quickly after getting it. The flip side is that, when they decide they like something, they get fixated on it quickly. So women, stop trying to win your man, but men, don't give up! 14) According To A Recent Study, People Are Twice As Likely To Find A Date Through Friends And Family Than Bars Or Clubs Makes sense...after all, you like your friends, your friends like this other person, so there's a pretty good chance you'll like the other person, right? You can hardly even hear what the other person is saying in a bar or club.

Is khwabo ki duniya ki na surat hai na seerat hai, is andhiyari galiyo se muh na modo yahi tumhari zindagi yahi tumhari haqeeqat hai ”. Indian cinema has shown us the face of our changing world, it serves better than what you expect. It gives you the bigger aspects in life; it gives you a fascinating hypothetical world where every dreams becomes true, it makes you live in those super imaginary dreams and sadly it is its dark side. Indian cinema was started for mere entertainment of ordinary people but with the time it started occupying some place in our lives, it started to fill those voids in the life of every other person, people started getting addicted to it and now these B-virus has addicted all the people. But it's neither an issue nor a sad thing to worry about, the real sad thing is they got addicted to an imaginary world where showing the true face of world is a curse. We all knew that nobody dances on the street lip sing a song with several other dancers dancing behind the leader with the perfect sync, we know that nobody can jump from extreme tall building without getting hurt, we also know that nobody can beat 10 people alone and this film industry has lots more filmy things like these. People started feeling pity on them after seeing all the filmy things; they think why can't these things happen in our lives? But the reality is it doesn't happen in anyone's real life even in the life of actor who portrayed it and maybe due to all these filmy things we haven't got Oscars. One girl refuses many marriage proposals in her early twenties because she didn't find anyone similar to Raj of DDLJ and now she became 39 years old still single and unmarried. That's the power of cinema it can change your life in both negative and positive way. Girls still have fantasy that their love interest will come in horse, tall dark and

34

handsome with some awesome and heart touching dialogues and they got hurt when it doesn't happens. One dialog from the mindblowing movie Gangs of Wasseypur aptly describes it “until the cinema is present in India people will continue getting fools”. This industry has made many realistic cinemas but this industry is no more a mode of entrainment instead it became an easy way to make money and now it is almost all about money. Now we have 100 and 200 crore Club and most of the movies that are tagged in this club are totally a bunch of nonsense's filled in it. This industry gave many realistic movies like Kaaghaz Ke Phool, Bandini, Mera Naam Joker, Paan Singh Tomar, Gangaajal, Black Friday, Maachis, Shanghai and lots more in the list. But all these movies had done a moderate business in the box office but they always remains in the heart of a true cinema lovers. They show the dark side of the world and that's why they don't deserve any audience? Luckily the time is changing people are getting aware of the reality and considering the faces of common man as the faces of hero. Directors like Anurag Kashyap, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Prakash Jha, Kundan Shah, Dibakar Banerjee, Shoojit Sircar, Neeraj Pandey, Nandita Das etc. are trying to change these system and are making the out of league films and they are getting success too. The dark side better to say reality is now getting accepted by people. Bollywood has shown the real concept of two world apart, earlier people tries to adopt the films in reality and now films trying to adopt the reality of people, that's truly a healthy change.

YOUTH AND THE STATUS OF LOVE Love!! What is the meaning of this word? You can define it in several ways isn’t it? As pure relation between two who can do anything for each other and so on. Agree the most common definition to love. Then if this is what you think is love you were in an illusion, the word love is something which can’t be defined that much simply. The meaning or the true essence of love is divine devotion. If you want someone as your love forever is devoted to him or her and you will surely get that love. Love doesn’t need any name to give; it’s just a feeling beyond expectations. If you love someone don’t bind them just let them the way they are and your love will grow sec by sec. Today, what we do is if we are in relation with someone we keep on telling and asking them how much love we have or how much they love us. This just make it monotonous love signifies happiness, joy, fullfillness not just expecting things from each other every time. It makes you parasite to live on one another’s sayings and all, it’s wrong. Realize it, true love makes you cry but the tears are only of happiness, there is no pain in true love, there is nothing like break up. So, status of love should be unchangeable no break up, no hatred, no cheating, no backstabbing. Just true love that is what we youth need to make a pleasant and happy society.

Myth 1: Making a choice of career is simple: Fact: Making a choice of career is a complex process and requires enormous amount of information research and analysis before a decision is made.

Myth 2: Career Counselors can make the best choice for me: Fact: A Career counselor can tell you about the various choices and the outcomes of the choices but cannot and should not make the choice for you.

Myth 3: Hobbies can't earn me a Living: Fact: Hobbies followed with enough amount of passion and given a chance to showcase the talent can be far more lucrative than any of the top paying jobs. It ensures a certain degree of satisfaction which in a non-interest field can never be found

Myth 4: Choosing from a best career list is a safe bet: Fact: A job or a career which is hot this year won't necessarily be that hot next year or in near future there are more chances it might even get obsolete. Though it's not wrong to choose from the list but it is not a fool proof plan to do so either.

Myth 6: I only get one shot at choosing a career: Fact: You are not stuck in a career forever many people don't do career planning and hence end up changing careers numerous times in their lives until they find the right one. We still suggest you make right choices the first time over to reduce the stress and re-skilling that accompanies the change in career.

Myth 7: A change in career would mean a waste of my current skill: Fact: To an extent yes but not completely, the skills that you acquire over a period of time remain with you over the life time. Behavioral skills always remain the same across industry and while you learn new skills for the new job you can always have and utilize the older skills in some way or other.

Myth 8: The career my friend or family chose made them successful, I should choose the same: Fact: Even the five fingers on your own palm are not same length, that's the way it goes with people, everybody is different depending on their skill, behaviors, upbringing, learning capacities and the ability to perform so what works for someone not necessarily would work for you.

Myth 9: The moment I choose a career all my work is done: Fact: Choosing the career is only the beginning you need to build it and develop it as per the trends and keep your knowledge and skills current to progress steadily in any career you choose.

Myth 10: I can't learn about a job without experience: Fact: Though there's no shortcut to hard-work and experience it's not the only way to learn something. You can learn about a particular field by asking the people who already work in it, by observing them, by researching on it. The Google Generation has an easy adage with the research part. I hope this helps you make better choices and build a better career.

Rafting or white water rafting is the challenging recreational outdoor activity of using an inflatable raft to navigate a river or other bodies of water. This is usually done on white water or different degrees of rough water, in order to thrill and excite the raft passengers. The development of this activity as a leisure sport has become popular since the mid-1970s. The modern raft is an inflatable boat, consisting of very durable, multi-layered rubberized (or vinyl fabrics (PVC) with several independent air chambers. “

Mother knows best! is a saying that has a relative significance to my life and the thing I have learned from my mother. Through this I come to know that mother is the' best teacher for children as she is the one who brings positive impact on children's lives with her love, care and support. Mother is child's most trusted friend, who teaches kids to broaden their minds for the challenges upcoming in life. I would like to add that mothers are inexhaustible source of inspiration. This world is like a school and we learn every day from ups and downs of our life. The importance of mother is an undeniable factor in anyone's life and we can say that mother is a building block of our life that plays multiple roles and responsibilities. We know mother as a protector, as a doctor and the most important amongst all is mother as a teacher. The character and behavior of child is more often depends on teachings of mother, as the famous saying is 'mother's lap is child's first school'. Being mother as a teacher, the loving and caring attitude can helps child in learning sharing, being kind to others and respecting elders and love younger ones in an easier way. With the warmth and love the mother can truly bring a difference in an overall personality of the child which will help them in becoming

successful persons and good human being because a mother knows everything of her child's best and worst. Though sending children to school is a necessity for child's education but a mother teaches their children the ways to lead the life and therefore a mother can sensibly enhance our existing capabilities. You may be thinking right now that my mother is a very unconventional woman then I would say you are right! Everything she had experienced in her last years, she has passed it all to me and I have used every bit of it in some point or another to reach my goals. My mother has taught me all possible art of being a good friend, daughter, sister, companion and the most important of all, being a girl or a woman. From her I have learned to love myself and in turn love others. She taught me how to survive in this harsh world. I intend to use every bit of this precious knowledge and someday when I will be a mother I will pass it all on to my children. Right now I will continue to use what I gained from my mother in order to achieve everything I need and everything she wanted for me: a better life. Beside this I would be saying that maybe a child cannot become the greatest student but for them their mothers are the greatest teacher and so for me to my mother is the greatest teacher of all.

SahVidya

T

he days when you did a project and had to carry it on a CD to different computers along with all the software required to execute it in order to show it to your teacher. Two classmates, Bhanu Gupta and Vivek Kumar Singh, graduated from IIT Delhi, during their masters both of them felt this pain of limited file sharing and storage. They worked for more than one and half year to find solution for their problem and they started Sahvidya on June 2013. Sahvidya is an online application for data storage and networking focused towards educational institutions, where students can store their data both privately and publicly, and share it with their class, college, or even with other colleges. An interesting aspect of this model is that you can access the files shared publicly by another university. Sahvidya is an academic networking system, using which students and faculty can share files with different academic entities in a single step. A student can send a file to his entire batch just by selecting entry year and program enrolled for, instead of entering details of each student one by one. The ‘networking’ feature which allows users to access the files and research papers shared by other universities. It also tends to contribute towards the increase in the knowledge-sharing culture, along with interaction between the students different institutions. Sahvidya has expanded mainly to premier

institutions like IIT Bombay, IIM Lucknow, IIM Ahmadabad, National Institute of Fashion Technology, National University of Singapore, and Georgia Tech University. They are working on adding universities from North America and Europe apart from adding Asian universities on their network. Currently around 300 users are using Sahvidya across the globe. Sahvidya uses a freemium model, registration is free and user is granted 2GB of personal and 1GB of public space which can be accessed by others and user can buy extra space of 1 GB by paying 0.3$/month.

ave you ever wondered that words like ear, but, best can have acronyms explaining its usual meaning. EAR: Earliest Audio Receiver. BUT: Better Understand That. BEST: By Every Standard Tops. B.D. Bhargav, 80 years old living in Agra creator of the book “Bacronyms”, treats the English Dictionary Words as if they are acronyms and expands them to form a phrase, each word of the phrase starting with a letter from the original word, in sequence. The phrase yields dictionary meaning of the word or its common usage meaning. He also call them as “Subtle Words Cocktail and Scholars Plaything”. “I was reading the book ‘Crazy English’ by Richard Ledrer and he mentioned the word Bacronym by mentioning the word DIET and writing Dare I Eat This. He didn't elaborate any further. This set me thinking and wondering whether it would be not possible to treat our common words as acronyms?,” Bhargav said. He started coining these words in 1996 and he has made 4000 Bacronyms word that were taken from Oxford Dictionary. Bhargav has been first published in Thane Plus of Times Of India. They were also published in Senior Magazine of Sacramento, California, USA., Sunday Times of Johanessburg, South Africa and Media Spectrum, a Fortnightly News Magazine of Janakpuri, New Delhi. With this new age dictionary, Bhargav adds “If young readers, particularly, decide to go into forming Bacronyms, it will increase their interest in the English Language and expand their vocabulary. As one word has, very often, more than one meaning and there are number of words with similar meaning there is plenty of scope for innovation. They can form Bacronyms totally different from what I have formed” Here are some of the Bacronyms from Bhargav’s collectionEASY - Effortless And Simple, Yea NEW - Never Ever Witnessed DREAMS - Daringly Realistic Experiences Amidst Mystique Scenes Learn more about Bhargava’s Bacronyms at bhargavabd.hpage.com.

t is said that to every child their mother is precious. God cannot be present everywhere so it created mother so that no one feel its absence. Likewise in our life our father is equally important. A family without father is like tree without roots. Fathers are that chain in our life to whom, we fear but we equally respect him. From our childhood, if we want something we first demand to our mother then she conveys our father, ultimately our demands are fulfilled by father only. It is impossible to say among mother and father who are more important because they both are equally important to us. Our mother teaches us how to walk and our father teaches to bounce back after falling. If our mother teaches how to say than our father teaches what to say. Every daughter is princess of their parents but after certain time fathers become best friend of their son (as I'm son of my father and I'm relating this article from life). Father understands his son, he support him and he also take care of his needs and requirement. Whenever their son is out with his friends, they call him and generally say “ghar jaldi aana, jyada ghumna mat. The

42

pyaar bhari dhamkiya of our papa affects us. It is another thing that after that sweet threat hum apne friends ke saath hi rehte hai ;-) For the eyes of mother their son is always seems like small child but our father's understand us and he slowly turns into an advisor, he always remains as a protector to his children and most important he become the best friend . To him you can share everything from silly things to bada wala matter. Our father teaches us how to behave, how to talk, how to fight? Fight? Of course not with the people. He teaches to fight with the situations of life. So it is our duty to make him proud of ourselves. Today you are recognized by your father, now it's your turn to make your father feel proud while others recognize him as your father. This is the biggest gift or I would like to say dream of our father which they expect from us. Don't you think at least they deserve this; in fact they deserve all the happiness of world. A father is someone who sometimes leaves you in your mistakes because he wants you to find your own way, so don't let down you father make him proud that's all he expects from you.

Sony 4K Bravia TV

Alienware 14 While every other manufacturer is launching slimmer and lighter notebooks, Alienware is busy churning out big, bulky and over the-top gaming machines — like this new Alienware 14. Being a gaming oriented machine it comes with top-notch hardware. You get a 4th generation Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB RAM, Nvidia GT 765M graphics and 750GB hard drive.

LEAP

The miniscule gadget barely measures larger than a USB flash drive, however inside the Leap you'll find two cameras and three infrared LEDs. Using these components, the device is capable of tracking hand and finger movements in all three spatial dimensions. We've seen similar technology applied elsewhere (e.g. Microsoft Kinect), so the Leap Motion may seem a little less fascinating than it would otherwise. Nevertheless, making use of motion-sensing technology to interact with your computer is at least refreshing, if not magical.

Sony launches Ultra high-resolution Bravia TV's with space age sound. Amidst much fanfare, Sony has launched "more affordable" X9004 series 4K TV's in India among their updated Bravia W series lineup. What are 4k TV's you ask? Well they are TV's with an incredibly high resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, much higher than the current popular Full HD TV's with a resolution of 1980 x 1080 pixels. So why the moniker 4k? Oh because they are priced at Rs 4000 only... we wish! The 4K moniker actually refers to the horizontal resolution only which is around 4000 pixels. Therefore the 4K Ultra HD (UHD) has twice the horizontal and vertical resolution of the 1080p HDTV format, with four times as many pixels overall. Did you know – There exists an 8K UHD format too which is 7680 pixels × 4320 pixels. One of the advantages of having this high a resolution is that it can be viewed from a distance of just 1.5 times of the height of the screen without pixellation issues and enjoy a wider experience at the same distance.

VENENO

I

n a week when they've put a comedian in parliament and a pope in a helicopter, it's perhaps unsurprising that the Italians have also made this Lamborghini Veneno. Veneno was a fighting bull. One of the strongest, fastest bulls there ever was. He is, however, most famous for gorging a matador to death in 1914. He was a murderbull. The Italians, it could be said, are at their very best when they stop taking their pills... This, then, is a three-of-a-kind - and completely road-legal - showpiece based on the Aventador. It has the same 6.5-litre V12, boosted to 739bhp with a 220mph max. It has the same permanent 4WD, inboard pushrod suspension and carbon monocoque chassis. It costs three million Euros - plus tax - and the trio of owners has already been found. It has been built to celebrate Lambo's 50th birthday, and though it would cheaper to make a cake, that's

44

not how they do business. It's why we love 'em. The front end is all beaky for the purpose of excellent airflow, and essentially works like a giant wing to push the nose into the ground. And the muscled arches are there to swoosh air around the car while reducing lift and increasing downforce. The underbody is flat and smooth. The rear wing is adjustable. Even the alloys - 20s at the front, 21s at the rear - feature carbon rim-rings that works like turbines to swirl fresh air onto hot carbonceramic brake discs. Lamborghini likes to think it looks like a racing prototype. And sure enough, with all the cuts and slits and flicks, plus those long boomerang headlights, it does resemble a modern Le Mans racer. The roof-scoop and dorsal fin actually make it look like the Audi that won the 24-Hour race last year (they are sibling companies, after all). But, if our memory of medieval disease prevention serves us correctly - and as you can see for yourself in this gallery - it also looks very much like a

plague doctor. Just us? The car will be shown off in Geneva tomorrow. Lambo's people tell us the one on the stand is chassis number zero. In other words, it's a test car and not one of the final three production versions. Its future is 'undecided'. And if you think a generous cheque may persuade them to sell you one, remember, they have a history of doing this sort of thing. Remember the Aventador J? It was strictly a one-off, made for one wealthy man, and that is how it shall remain. Although one thing did sneak through the net: the J's revolutionary 'carbonskin' upholstery now also appears in the Veneno. But then there was the Sesto Elemento, a madly re-interpreted and heavily carbonfibred Gallardo, which was shown back in 2010 as a 'technical demonstrator'. A year later, Lambo boss Stephan Winkelmann admitted he would sell 20 of the track-only cars to some cashed-up customers. Like the Sesto though, it's likely that the Veneno will also be used as sort of rolling laboratory for future products and special editions. And if that's the case, expect the next-gen Aventador not only to chomp free of its straightjacket, but also set it on fire and roll in the flames.

W

ith the mixed result of previous issue things are once again started. The goodest* thing of the magazine industry is that you will always be aspired to do something new and it develops your creativity. There were few backdrops in the previous issue and our main agenda is to correct them. I asked Nikhil (COO, MAD pages), ‘what should be the cover story for next issue?’ and he said ‘don’t know’ and all of sudden he popped ‘teachers day is coming’ and then it is final that we are working on teachers day as a cover story for the this issue. We haven’t talked to many writers this time. Just few best buddies, a new girl, a dongle, a computer and we have started working. I personally worked on the cover story which is based on teacher and believe me I’m the one who hate teacher a lot because they always pushed my bright ideas to dark ends although they are not that much bright but it doesn’t deserve that dark corner too. And so I’ve distributed the good part of cover story to Sana (writer) and I’ve taken the best part for me the evil talks about teachers. While concluding the cover story I felt that it is more of a complaining article rather than a solution article and in order to make it a worthful article I assigned Agnivesh (writer) to conclude the article with the solution part and hence the cover story is finished. I named it T-Day inspired from the recent movie D-Day. I’ve heard from mouths that my personal column taar is liked by readers and so the responsibility to present a good connection of

46

hope is a must. I’ve started taar themed on teachers only and when I’ve completed more than 75% of article I got attention to the Mumbaiu rape case and I felt it is more important than those of teacher. And I worked on that and created an article, while working on that subject I’ve faced emotions of shame, anger and it feels like that everything is a waste. For a moment I’m getting a feeling of disinterest from my life from the thought of the injustice in our country. But my team supported me and realized me that we are here for making a difference and so the swords of pens are raised high and we started scratching the pages and filling the wounds with blood of ink and we framed the story of pain. In the juggle of emails from several inboxes, chats at whatsapp & facebook the MAD pages got its content and I finally designed a layout as per the requirement of article and my personal understanding. But to make things sure I personally verify the article from the writers of respective articles. And when they said OK then it is an okay from my side too. Few talks with photographer from the internet and our own photographer and the pictures and images for our articles were captured and downloaded. And just four day before the fixed date of release, we have completed the magazine with the hope that youth will change the fate of this country and will support us in making a difference.
