Postdoctoral positions are highly competitive, and available to only PhD recipients, allowing them to conduct research and continue studies, while maintaining a salary and benefits package. According to The Scientist, this year’s top institutions were recognized for supporting family values and encouraging a personal life outside of the lab, which explains the success of UC Denver because, out of the 11 survey rankings, UC Denver ranked in the top three for Quality of Communication, Networking Opportunities, and Family and Personal Life. “The advancement of the University into the top 10 places to be a postdoc in the United States corresponds almost exactly to the first year of operation of the Postdoctoral Office at UC Denver,” said John Freed, PhD, Dean of the Graduate School.
