I’m a young european women, I live in a christian and patriarcal society who want to evolve. I question the place, the one that people want me to have, the one that I want. It’s a kind of graal, an ipossible goal for us, humans. I want to witness this quest. An open door in this constant moving and reinventing society. It seems hard to relate with something like a stable place, a place that not move. I’m certain it’s not possible to search for immobilism when the world move constantly. That’s why I create. I’ve start a research around myself. I’m my own subject for experimenting life. I can observe myself very easily and I compare with others. I create an interection with others by my art to help understanding this quest that seems impossible. Finding other ways to be pleased with our life. Our society is seek/sick. The new generation, that I’m part of it, is destabilized. The society needs to change but it’s heavy on our backs. We search ways to see the world with hope and hapiness and our place seems to be something important to reach our goals. My hypersensibility is something I want to share with the world and the artistic way is the only one I’ve found to express myself in the good way. My personnal goal is touching people. Masks I’ve start to use masks to express myself. All the roles I play in my life. All the persons I want to be or who are inside me. The mask himself tell a lot about what he is. How he live. It’s a strong tool to express and that’s why I chose it. 16 maks, 15 livings in videos during 3 years. (2016-2018)
Taking the time. Looking at themself, analyse ourself, showing to the world. We become an image, a representation. We chose what we want to show, which angle to take and how people will interpret it by their own vision. It’s a risk to take. Risking judgment. Looking at herself and giving it to others eyes. We can’t totally choosing the way we are. We lie to ourself, we hope to be flawsless but it’s the best way to show our flaws. It’s a place of representations and interpretations. Wild Child What were be our lifes if we were born in the complete nature ? I ask and try to answer this question in this video. Like Victor of Aveyron, the little boy who’ve lived his childhood with wolfs, I’ve created a woman who is between the wild life and the society’s life. She don’t know where she can place herself. A women escape from water. She walk akwardly and sing from a throat voice. Her head is inside a net. She go back in water and look at us. This is a mystic and strong women. From the image of the imaginary mermaid, I’ve transpose this vision. A strong, dangerous and mysterious women. Something who mans were afraid for a lot of centuries and was a way of representing womens. Being afraid is the start of the oppression. Lover of the sun she do a ritual. Her gesture speak about strenght. She search the heat and eat it. The sun is her master and way of living. Filmed in the Piton de la Fournaise at la réunion, the volcano was the perfect place to speak about the contrast between moon and sun. Complemantary to another video about the moon, this one exprim the way of liking the heat and the light of the sun. Origin mask Humans are by definition socials animals. A lot of scientists and philosophs, says it’s essential for us to interract with each others. And to do so, we put social masks on our face to interract correctly with everyone. We can’t speack in the same way with everyone. Social codes defines everything and if we don’t respect it, we become a social abnormal. Someone that’s in marge and is reject by the norme. I’ve created an edition of my culture references. Like something I’ve loved and I continue to love today, I’ve created a stickers edition like the italian brand: Panini. Having fun is important for me and in my work. It’s not always obvious but it’s always here. In this project it’s more present. The pirate remember. Comfortably installed, she remember everything. It’s path without ending. She will never return in the sea with her beloved ship. Everything in this space make a reference to this. It seems like she is in a hurry to go back but in the same way, she is creating a sanctuary for her memoriy.
