HOL D

your ponies

Gathering inspiration is the fun part of any creative endeavor and we’re all for secret Pinterest boards and tearing through wedding magazines - BUT - once we solidify your style direction, we ask that you hold your ponies on the late-night pinning.

I N S P I R AT I O N / W E D D I N G C ATA L O G

| 17

If you’re collection…. Use your inspiration to help narrow down which character you are. Is your Pinterest board overflowing with tropical art deco? You’re definitely leaning Bev. Getting married at the Museum of Modern Art? Well then you’re Oswald all the way.

If you’re custom… Share your inspiration with us and together we’ll determine the style of your stationery. Trust your gut, show us what you love. Then hand over the reigns and trust us to transform your inspiration into a stationery suite that suits you, your event, and your guests perfectly. Then once you’ve signed the contract, we ask that you pump the brakes on the wedding magazine subscriptions and know that you’ve made the right decisions for your stationery* - I mean, you hired us, right?

*Think of it like your wedding gown - just like you don’t go searching for gowns after you’ve bought THE dress, don’t go searching for more stationery inspiration after you’ve signed the contract. In our experience, we see time and time again that brides are happier when they go with their initial instincts.

Our motto is always “ P E OP L E B E F OR E PA P E R .” Here’s the skinny on what that means: we totally support following tried-and-true etiquette rules, but if adhering to tradition means somebody’s feelings might get hurt, it’s okay to make your own rules. Seriously. If picking between Sky Blue and Robin’s Egg Blue is hurting your head – just close your eyes and pick. The world will keep spinning. We promise. And if you find yourself having to choose between inviting a few more friends to cut a rug at your reception, or creating a super customized set of three color letterpress menus, we say, invite the people! Hands down. We’ll help you find menus that fit your budget so you’re friends can be there to read the menu, enjoy dinner, and then cut that rug with you.

We’ve got you! As you navigate the wild world of weddings, let Team MaeMae be your go-to resource for all things stationery related. Not sure when to send your save the date? Confused about wording your invitation or what kind of calligraphy suits your style? We have you covered. Once you sign on the dotted line with us, you’ll be guided through our process where we’ll share stationery tips, tricks, to-dos — and more importantly — what-not-to-dos — along the way. For now we’ve compiled some FAQs on the following pages.

36 |

W E D D I N G C ATA L O G / F A Q

Your Questions Answered TIMING

Q. How long will my order take to design, print and ship? A. Typically, a collection order takes 8 weeks and a custom order takes 14-16 weeks.

Q. My tasting is a month before my wedding, can we still design a menu? A. We totally understand that some menus are determined by seasonal ingredients and therefore tastings cannot occur any earlier than a month or even a few weeks before the wedding. If that’s the case, we recommend you print a menu that has more generic wording. For example, say “salmon with seasonal vegetables” instead of “salmon with roasted red beets, orange carrots and lava bean grilled sweet corn.” Then request that your wait staff explain each dish in more detail to your guests.

DESIGN PROCESS

Q. Can you send me samples of your work? A. Yes! We send complimentary samples after discussing your wedding at the consultation meeting.

F A Q / W E D D I N G C ATA L O G

| 37

Q. If I order the collection, can I change the design? A. We allow for minimal design changes to our collection (think color, fonts, etc). If you’re looking to customize a collection suite, we are more than happy to do so, but please note each element you customize incurs a $75 fee (minimum).

Q. How does the proofing process work? A. Clients typically receive 1 - 3 proofs, depending on the contract. We will send you a PDF of your suite with instructions on how to provide feedback. Each round of proofs typically takes a week. Additional proofs beyond the scope of your contract are $50 for text changes and $75 for design and text changes.

Q. How does the approval process work? A. Once you no longer have any changes, we’ll send you a digital print approval form that shows an image of each piece and details the quantity, size, paper and print method. Once you review and approve, we send everything off to print!

Q. Can I change the design, wording, quantity, or paper after I approved my pieces? A. Yes, but changes after pieces are approved incur an $75 fee. We will also need to send you a new print approval form for you to sign.

more on the next page...

38 |

W E D D I N G C ATA L O G / F A Q

PRINTING

Q. Can you print in white ink? A. Yes! Note that certain types of paper are required, and additional fees for specialty printing are applied.

Q. Can you print in gold on the digital press? A. Technically yes, but it is a matte finish. See our Beverly suite for an example of how this looks. For a shiny gold look, an engraving or gold foil print process is required, which costs more than flat printing.

Q. Can you send me the files to my stamp/ monogram so I can DIY print some items at home? A. Yes, in some cases we will provide artwork for an additional fee.

Q. Can you print my guest addresses on my envelopes? A. Yes! We can flat print your guest addresses. Alternatively we can work with a calligrapher to address your invitations or save the date cards. Pricing for both options live in our Pricing Calculator (Page 31).

F A Q / W E D D I N G C ATA L O G

| 39

E N V E L O P E S / A D D R E S S I N G I N V I TAT I O N S

Q. Can I order square envelopes? A. Of course! Please note that postage is more expensive for square envelopes.

Q. Can I order colored envelopes? A. Yes! They may cost extra.

Q. Do you work with calligraphers? Yes, we are more than happy to coordinate the addressing of your pieces with the calligrapher of your choice. We also have a recommended list of calligraphers available - just ask!

Q. My friend addressed my envelopes and the ink she used bled through the envelopes you provided, will you send me more? Bummer! We guarantee that our recommend calligraphers will have zero trouble addressing the envelopes provided, but since we don’t know what type of pens you, your friend, your mom, etc are using to address your envelopes, we cannot guarantee perfect execution. If you have trouble with bleeding, inks not showing up well, etc, we recommend you try out a couple different types of pens. more on the next page...

W E D D I N G C ATA L O G / F A Q

SHIPPING / MAILING

Q. Will you assemble and mail my invitations? A. Yes, we can for an additional fee - please inquire for a quote.

Q. How much will it cost for you to ship me my suite? A. We provide complimentary USPS Priority shipping on all orders. If you require expedited shipping, we ask that you cover the entire shipping cost.

Q. How much will the postage cost to mail my invitation? A. It depends! Postage depends on the size of your envelope, weight of the pieces being mailed and where they are being mailed to. We can provide an estimate for postage based on these factors, but we highly encourage you to visit your local post office for an in-person estimate. Please note that square envelopes always cost more.

Q. How long do stamps take to design, print, & ship? Designs from our collection take one to two weeks for design, print and shipment time. Custom stamp designs can take up to six weeks.

Q. Can I make design / size changes to the stamps? Yes! Please inquire for a precise quote.
