„ Drawing is the honesty of the art. There is no possibility of cheating. It is either good or bad. -Salvador Dali

Many of us know people who are "mollusk minded", closed to new ideas and suggestions. This guy decided to open up a little.

We all seek guidance. Many times it can come from not so reliable sources, beware the tin that is painted to look like silver.

Negative thoughts, with its buddies fear, anger & regret.

Gossip may be juicy, but is nonetheless vile

I tend to prefer solitude but still want to connect just enough to keep me from going insane

Mental illness runs in my family on both sides. I am excited when i start to "lose it," my pieces may get better

I have a fascination with the surreal and new age spirituality. This piece has a bit of each. It looks as though he is tired I fear drowning

of people staring

My take on a "fashion" illustration, if diving suits were in style

Fur diving suit, heavy yet warm.

I find drawing from photographs a very strange thing to do, ..., because what it is capturing is the way a machine we made captures things, not the way we normally experience them.

100 days of Portraits Text and art by Melissa Washburn

it can be very hard to see what you are actually looking at - we’re all so familiar with the human face that our brain makes assumptions

True terror is to wake up one morning and discover that your highschoool class is running the country

If you want creative workers give them enough time to play

The prolonged slavery of women is the darkest page in human history

„For this layered mixed media portrait I used Neocolor II crayons and Derwent Inktense pencils, fineliner and acrilic paint. In the background stamps are used“, Jacqueline

Creative Flow from Colour Blobs

Text and art by Ashley Aliko

Paint pens from Target (United States)

The Beginning Blobs; nothing so precious. Small sketchbook, testing colour.

The attitude of a face can start to reveal itself through the placement of the eyes.

Smooshed eye, but nothing is a mistake here: The eye-white looks funny because I smashed two pages together while the paint pen was still wet. It could be running make-up.

Starting to draw in her sass and attitude. Will i put flowers in her hair or do something else?

... and he backside is just an opportunity, the back page could be used for another kind of face.

Some of the colors of the paint pens were very drippy. Could I get my perfectionist mind out of the way please to see such happy little accidents as opportunities...

Here is a quick red and purple girl. I made some quick and easy choices to make them come alive.

Inky aunties

Tools ready for the experiment: ink, brushes, pens and, for me as a mixed media lover, a few old book pages, oil pastels and chalks.

Watch the two time-laps videos to see the process how I draw the faces of the aunties. It is a bit like at a make-up artist after being to the hair dresser Klick on the image to start the video

Also foxes found their way on the pictures

A way with faces Text and pictures by Jelena J.-L.

Basic shapes I saw in my face when preparing the face study.

Finished face study that I now compare with the original photo.

Here are mistakes that I only realised when I compared the photographs: eye on the right, jaw, and nouse

Ones the main shape looks good, I start appyling the shade

The face is finished. Just final touches around the eyes, and the hair

The hair appears quite voluminous, and there are still some mistakes on a secound look but I am happy with the result
