Combines the power of people and local governments through participatory planning for Integrated Coastal Management

with database and local ordinance Cost: PhP90,000 l Capacity-building of deputized coastal law enforcers with operational plan Cost: PhP340,000 External / Third Party l Logistical support, IEC support What has been achieved by this innovation of the EnRD Program: l 40 ICM plans formulated and under various stages of implementation in Regions 6 and 8 l 10,300+ sq.km of improved fishery management in Regions 6 and 8 l 393 sq.km. have been designated and managed as Marine Protected Areas in 40 municipalities in Regions 6 and 8 l Six LGU alliances (four in Region 6, two in Region 8) have formulated uniform fishery ordinances. Alliancebased law enforcement teams have been deputized to enforce such ordinances among the alliance members l Established Provincial Coastal Fisheries Resources Management Units l Pacific sites of Region 8 have reported increasing catch per unit effort (CPUE) ranging from 2 to 19 kg / man hour l LGUs in central Negros Occidental are now reaping the benefits of having established a tariff system where an income of up to PhP 3M is generated from fees collected from shellfish production, fishing vessel registration and licensing, and Bantay Dagat apprehensions.
