It has been a hectic few months of flying in PNG as many of our pilots have been on home assignment or have left the field permanently. We now have a few more hands on deck, so I am taking a two-week holiday in Queensland with a friend! Pray for safe travels, fun times, and that I can return to PNG refreshed and ready to get stuck in again.

This month we are spending our last couple of weeks in New Zealand before heading to Switzerland to meet Pascal’s friends, family and supporters. We have had a great time in NZ and have enjoyed catching up with supporters and sharing about what we have been doing. Please thank God for this time of encouragement and that we have could share about the work we are doing.

We are hoping for a minimum of 30 attendants and for 15 of those to sign up in a meaningful way to CoPilot. Please pray for the high school youth God is calling.

As part of the MAF International fleet renewal plan, the first of 3 new Cessna Caravan aircraft destined for the MAF Papua New Guinea programme is currently in Mareeba, undergoing final modifications and preparation for service in PNG. This aircraft will replace the first Caravan aircraft that began service with MAF-PNG in 2008. Pray this aircraft will be a blessing to everyone who flies in it.

MAF INTERNATIONAL. Many MAF rescue flights are unexpected and unplanned. Some are the result of accident, illness or domestic violence, with MAF pilots in Arnhem Land regularly receiving calls for all three. Please pray for God’s protection during our flights for Miyalk women’s shelter – praising Him that, thanks to MAF, women and children in Arnhem Land are able to reach safety quickly.

Pray for Mark as he and Ian McBride travel to the annual MAF Global Forum in the UK on Sept 16-23. This will be a critical meeting as MAF is looking at ways to function as one global organisation, to enhance our global reach and effectiveness. Please pray for wisdom, clear guidance from the Lord and a oneness of spirit so to be able to work more closely together.

Please pray for South Sudan as the inaugural election approaches in December. There is a lot of uncertainty around the election as there is concern it could lead to period of unrest. Pray for peace and safety of all here.

Sylas Rank, one of our apprentice aircraft engineers, has been experiencing severe illness related to TB. Maro, our Avionics Engineer, has been in recovery following a back operation. Arjan, our Flight Operations Manager, has been grounded on health matters. They are all key members in our team. Please pray for healing and recovery and health for the rest of the team.

And may our partnerships with the communities outside Dili be strengthened.

A group of local “missionaries” are reaching out to the village of Minim in the Hewa region of PNG. This village is very remote and has not yet previously been evangelised. The group will be teaching literacy and teaching them to read the Bible for themselves. These missionaries have been sent out by a church plant of the New Tribes Mission. Pray that God will pour out His Holy Spirit.
