What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You care for him? …You have given him dominion over the works of Your hands — Psalm 8:4-6 (ESV)
Psalm 8 reminds us of God’s greatness and vastness. It also speaks of His intimate and detailed care for us, His beloved creation, telling us that God has entrusted the works of His hands to us!

It’s amazing to not only be known by God but to also be given responsibility and authority over what God has made. It’s truly mindboggling that, as Psalm 115:16 explains, ‘The highest heavens belong to the Lord, but the earth He has given to mankind.’
We’re not spectators or silent partners but active participants in the unfolding story of God’s purposes. The earth has been ‘given to mankind’ to steward well, with every day a new invitation to join in with God’s plans.
Prayer is a pivotal part of our collaboration with Him and, as we pray, we move the hand of God.
Today, let’s marvel afresh at the thought that, despite His great power, God allows us to partner with Him.
He could do everything Himself, but He chooses to work alongside fallible human beings and give us the privilege of using our hands and prayers to help build His Kingdom. It is something He graciously allows us to experience for ourselves.
Here, at MAF, we have the honour of partnering with our heavenly Father to bring help, hope and healing to the world He loves so much.
Thank you for being a part of this glorious mission.
God bless you!
Jess Soames Prayer Communications Leader
Only let your manner of life be worthy of the Gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith — Philippians 1:27 (ESV)
WEDNESDAY 1 Praise God for a New Year! At the start of 2025, let’s focus our eyes on Jesus as we move into a new season. Pray that the favour of the Lord will be upon us and bless all that we do as we dedicate this year to Him
THURSDAY 2 Give thanks for the opportunity MAF had in western DRC to host a Family Day at Ndolo Airport. It was a fantastic chance for the families of MAF personnel to come together and experience aviation in a way that many hadn’t before. Praise the Lord for a successful, rewarding and fulfilling time of fun, fellowship and prayer
FRIDAY 3 Students from a local primary school had their first experience of flying in a light aircraft, thanks to a Careers Day hosted by MAF in eastern DRC. Please pray that the plane ride will inspire these children to form the next generation of MAF pilots and aircraft maintenance engineers.
SATURDAY 4 The DRC has seen decades of violence, with serious clashes between the military and insurgents. Please pray that peace will finally descend on this troubled nation, and that our pilots, planes, personnel and the partners we serve will be kept safe

SUNDAY 5 Praise God that MAF was able to play a vital role in bringing pastors of the Gut Nius Lutheran Church together for a powerful conference that addressed the need for reconciliation and unity. The flights saved some of the pastors a four-week walk from remote locations.
MONDAY 6 On average, our PNG aircraft carry out four medical emergency flights a month – the time saved often meaning the difference between life and death. Pray for our pilots as they perform what can sometimes be an extremely challenging or traumatic flight
TUESDAY 7 Pray for MAF’s Cessna 208 floatplane as preparations continue so the aircraft can begin serving isolated communities across PNG’s hard-to-reach wetlands
WEDNESDAY 8 Wanakipa Primary School is located deep in the bush of Hela Province. As Headmaster Howard Hungi explains, ‘If MAF wasn’t here, I believe that all services in Wanakipa would cease to operate.’ Pray for MAF and the school as we work together to provide children in this remote area with a hope and a future
THURSDAY 9 ‘Our missionary activities are only as authentic insofar as they reflect participation in the mission of God,’ wrote theologian and missiologist David Bosch. Pray for MAF as we seek to share God's
challenge. Wanakipa, one of the country’s roadless communities, is possible to take a bus and then walk two days, but for elderly Joseph Ako that wasn’t an option. Give thanks that MAF is there for everything from medical emergencies to simply providing a safe trip home. Pray for each flight to safely overcome the
SUNDAY 12 Last year we celebrated the retirement of P2-MAF, one of our Cessna 208 aircraft. This came after nearly 25,000 safe landings had provided help, hope and healing for more than 16 years. Praise God for the generosity of the supporters who provide us with these incredible instruments for saving and transforming lives.
MONDAY 13 The cargo pods underneath our aircraft carry everything from medical supplies to Bibles, along with daily essentials such as food, oil or even phone credit! Pray for the safe and timely delivery of each precious load of freight.
TUESDAY 14 ‘Young man, sit down,’ a man once said to William Carey, ‘When God pleases to convert the [lost], He will do it without your aid or mine!’ Thankfully, the young missionary didn’t listen. Pray for those who answer the call of being co-workers with Christ through serving with MAF.
WEDNESDAY 15 Known as Third Culture Kids, TCKs from MAF’s expatriate families daily face the challenges of growing up in a culture that isn’t their own. Please pray that they stay safe, remain healthy, and will come to thrive in their new home and country.
THURSDAY 16 Sometimes chickens can fly! MAF recently flew 500 chicks from Mount Hagen to Wewak. For Joyce, the chirping passengers meant an income for her family and a brighter future. Please pray that, in all we do — whether large or small — we’ll make a difference in the lives of those we serve.
FRIDAY 17 Pray for an initiative aimed at providing reusable sanitary kits to grade 12 schoolgirls in Telefomin. Through workshops led by MAF volunteers, young women receive the information and resources they need so they can focus on their studies without the added stress of menstrual health concerns.
SATURDAY 18 In the past, church planting missionaries stationed in PNG’s remote communities provided Bibles and Christian resources to those living in remote locations. Today, many of those missionaries have now left. So, for the last five years, MAF planes have met the need by carrying boxes filled with Bibles. Please pray that God’s precious Word will find its way into the hands of those who are seeking Jesus.

SUNDAY 19 Praise God for His protection during a flight for Miyalk Domestic and Family Violence Shelter, where MAF staff were able to reunite a mother and her young daughter. Give thanks that our flights enable women and children fleeing abuse to reach safety quickly.
MONDAY 20 Ben Brown, MAF’s new Country Director in Arnhem Land, leads a team of 30 people. Please pray for Ben as he gets used to his new role
TUESDAY 21 Uphold Facilities Manager Andrew Nielsen as he works to maintain MAF’s buildings and houses in Arnhem Land, ensuring that they remain safe and comfortable
WEDNESDAY 22 Pilot Matthew Kaye has moved from our Arnhem Land programme to work as a flight instructor at the MAF Training Centre in Mareeba. Give thanks for his time serving isolated communities in Australia’s remote outback and pray for the pilots of the future that Matthew will be training
THURSDAY 23 James and Danielle Gullett arrived in Arnhem Land at the beginning of the year. With James serving as a pilot, Danielle hopes to use her experience as a doula to support local communities. Please pray for them both as they settle into a new country and adjust to a new way of life.
FRIDAY 24 Arnhem Land consists of about 97,000 square km, with no tarmac roads connecting isolated communities. Because it’s the wet season, many of the rugged dirt tracks have become impassable. Pray that MAF flights will enable remote communities to still have access to essential supplies.
SATURDAY 25 Staff from regular MAF flyer Country Connect deliver a range of activities for young people and those with disabilities. Give thanks that we’re able to be a bridge between communities so people can access their services throughout the year. Pray too as their personnel seek to improve people’s emotional wellbeing.

SUNDAY 26 Praise God for Mark and Jenny Beckwith in Mareeba, Australia. They recently celebrated 15 years’ service with MAF and 10 years at the MAF Training Centre in Mareeba. Mark works as an aircraft maintenance engineer while Jenny serves with the local church and supports a local handicraft business.
MONDAY 27 Geoff and Celia Linkleter have worked for MAF since 2011. Geoff is one of the most senior engineers in our Uganda programme, which serves MAF programmes across East Africa. This year they are returning to the UK with their daughter Miriam. Pray for them as they make this transition and for our Uganda team, too. Pray that more engineers will apply to work with MAF.
TUESDAY 28 Steve and Philippa Forsyth are based in Uganda where Steve works as Digital Solutions Architect. His work ensures that our IT capabilities are appropriate and safe in a world where new technology is developing at a rapid rate. Pray for wisdom as Steve continues to serve our online needs.
WEDNESDAY 29 Pray for all those training to become MAF pilots. As well as our Future Pilot Programme, we also have a training base in Mareeba, where Joe Knighton (above left) helps train pilots before they transfer to MAF programmes around the world. Please pray for Joe and his colleagues as they teach and encourage a new generation of future MAF pilots.
THURSDAY 30 Dave and Caroline Moore are serving in PNG. Please pray for Dave as he leads a large team of local tradespeople in his role as MAF Building Maintenance and Projects Officer. Pray also for his wife Caroline as she supports prayer ministry within MAF PNG's team.
FRIDAY 31 Communicating what God is doing through MAF is important. It helps us to pray, encourages people to give, and tells people about the needs of isolated communities worldwide. Our stories come from communications officers like Jenny Davies in South Sudan. Pray for Jenny as she meets with community leaders and organisations to gather and tell their stories.
SATURDAY 1 Pray for Daniel and Libby Simkins based in Cairns, Australia. Daniel works in the Finance department, ensuring that MAF can function and fly sustainably. Remember all those working behind the scenes in roles which, though largely unnoticed, are vital to MAF.

SUNDAY 2 Praise God for the IT team which works creatively to keep our systems online so we can continue to fly even in areas where internet connectivity is unreliable.
MONDAY 4 Please pray for the Finance team as they seek to be faithful and wise stewards of the gifts and legacies coming in. May they be in awe of God’s incredible provision!
TUESDAY 4 Give thanks for the Quality, Safety and Security team. Its personnel work diligently to ensure that all the staff in MAF’s programmes are safe and secure whatever country or region they’re serving
WEDNESDAY 5 Pray for our international staff as they work crossculturally and learn new ways of working with each other to bring even greater unity and strength
THURSDAY 6 Pray for any MAF funding projects that are in their infancy. Some need great faith and financial support so they can be developed
FRIDAY 7 Pray for those seeking to streamline our aviation technology and the way we record data. Although it’s often an unseen area of work, it’s vital in ensuring that we reach the goal of serving more and more remote and isolated communities.
SATURDAY 8 Pray for the many staff vacancies that exist across our programmes. May many men and women hear the call of God to serve with MAF overseas, and may God make their paths straight as they follow His call
SUNDAY 9 Praise God for all the new people he has sent us to serve overseas who will attend an induction conference this month. Pray for the new staff and their families as they learn about MAF and the role they will play in bringing help, hope and healing to isolated communities in Africa and the Asia-Pacific region.
MONDAY 10 Today, let’s uphold CEO Dave Fyock as he leads MAF International into greater unity across the globe.

TUESDAY 11 Give thanks for the Communications team which includes communications officers in many MAF programmes. Pray for them as they gather the wonderful stories that can be used by MAF to provide our programmes with the prayer, personnel and pounds that we need
WEDNESDAY 12 Pray for the members of the MAF International team who painstakingly ensure that our aviation documentation is kept up to date and accurate. Without their hard work we’d be unable to assist the communities that need help most.
THURSDAY 13 Pray that, as we recruit much-needed staff, God will bring us people who truly represent the wonderful diversity of His Kingdom so we can reflect the beauty of His global Church.
FRIDAY 14 MAF works in some countries where Christian religious expression is severely limited, we refer to them as ‘restricted access’ nations. Pray for MAF’s work in these places. Pray too for wisdom for those overseeing the programmes where conditions are difficult and the need for help can be desperate.
SATURDAY 15 Pray that, as our staff engage with MAF’s multifarious work processes, spreadsheets, budgets and financial forecasts, they will never lose sight of the Great Commission and our desire to bring the Gospel to hard-to-reach communities worldwide.

SUNDAY 16 Praise God for our partnership with In Deed and Truth (IDAT) Ministries’ Maternal Child Healthcare Unit, which treats thousands of women and children each year. Pray that the Christian NGO’s work — which wouldn’t be possible without MAF flights — continues to save lives and point people to Jesus
MONDAY 17 Today, let’s uphold Iisakki Saari. He’s the newest member of MAF in South Sudan and the first ever pilot from Finland to serve there. Pray that Iisakki, who grew up as a mission kid in Siberia, remains safe as he continues serving the South Sudanese through aviation
TUESDAY 18 Last year, several staff members left to return to their home countries after their season of mission came to an end. Please pray for God’s guidance for the next chapter of their lives. Uphold those who remain in South Sudan, serving with MAF.
WEDNESDAY 19 Please pray for peace and stability in South Sudan. Having obtained independence from Sudan in 2011, South Sudan was plunged into a bloody civil war a mere two years later — the terrible conflict displacing some four million people.
THURSDAY 20 Uphold the work of the Sudan Pentecostal Church (SPC) and missionaries like Magdalena Waern, who thanks MAF for ‘making it really easy to get things to the right place and to the right person.’ MAF flights have provided SPC pastors with bicycles, water filters and tents so evangelists around rural Aweil and Chukudum can spread the Gospel and encourage local churches.
FRIDAY 21 Shannon Albert gives thanks for the flights that save her from bone-jarring journeys by motorbike, time-consuming public transport breakdowns and the need to ‘hire a soldier when there’s insecurity on the road.’ The missionary, who founded Nhomlaau International, promotes literacy training and provides vulnerable children with nutritious food, Bible stories and God’s love
SATURDAY 22 Pray that the South Sudanese Church will be kept free from error. Not all the churches have a pastor and, because some of the ministers can’t read or write, false teaching sometimes flourishes. Please pray that the evangelists we fly to remote areas will help promote sound doctrine
But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well

SUNDAY 23 Praise God that MAF flights in Guinea have been able to support Pioneer Bible Translators with their work. It can often take many years to translate one book of the Bible, so let’s give thanks that our flights mean they can spend more of their precious time on this vital work. May many more people read God’s Word in their mother tongue.
MONDAY 24 Today, let’s give thanks that the One who spoke the world into being, parted the Red Sea and raised Jesus from the dead, wants His fallible followers to partner with Him in prayer and service. As we commit the needs of the world to the One who created it, let’s thank Him for the privilege of playing a part in His purposes
TUESDAY 25 Our programme in Guinea flies NGO personnel and humanitarian partners around
life expectancy of only 61 years. Pray we’ll continue opening airstrips so that lives can be saved, healthcare transformed, education enabled, and the Gospel preached.
WEDNESDAY 26 Thanks to MAF Pilot Hansjoerg Schlatter, Beatrice Bardio was flown to Liberia’s capital for treatment after being hit in the eye by a piece of rock. Although travel by road would have meant an uncomfortable 4-day journey, Hansjoerg flew her to Monrovia in only 90 minutes. Pray for Beatrice’s healing and for all our medical transfer patients
THURSDAY 27 Hansjoerg Schlatter says, ‘Although Partners in Health [in Liberia] is very thankful for our service, I always tell them that, without their work, there’d be no need for our flights. It’s really a team effort, with everyone playing an important role.’ Pray that we’ll continue strengthening the hands of those making a difference in the world.
FRIDAY 28 Today, let’s uphold Gift and Abigail Mposi. They’ve recently moved to Liberia, where Gift is working as an aircraft maintenance engineer. Pray they get used to serving in a new country and culture, having left family and friends in Zimbabwe.
SATURDAY 1 Praise the Lord for a flight for 20-year-old Leane, who’d been teaching missionary children in Nzérékoré, Guinea; Alexandre Weiss, who worked with a clinic there; Senior
SUNDAY 2 Praise God that in 12 months, MAF flights enabled patients to receive 3,548 eye consultations and 720 cataract operations from medics at Boa Vista Hospital. Give thanks for everyone who has experienced healing, praying that — like the man in Luke 18:35-43 — they will follow the One who restores sight to the blind

WEDNESDAY 5 Pray for the staff who are creatively exploring what God could do with a training centre in Angola. Pray for Holy Spirit inspired ideas and for wisdom to implement them
THURSDAY 6 Please pray for the international school on the Mitcha compound where MAF staff live. A new school building is currently being constructed. Pray for the registration process, for everything to progress smoothly, and for the students and their teachers during the new school year
FRIDAY 7 Pray that the new Mitcha school building will attract new teachers and educators. Transitioning from one class to six classes means that many more staff are needed to work with the expected new intake of 60 children. Pray that those who love teaching, children and Christian values will be interested in joining the only English language curriculum school in a city of nearly a million people
SATURDAY 8 With some of the world’s worst health outcomes and fewer than 2 doctors per 10,000 people, pray for the work we do with Christian medical partners such as the Kalukembe Hospital. Pray that MAF flights will provide an even greater number of people with help, hope and healing.

SUNDAY 9 Praise God for the partnership between MAF and CURE Children’s Hospital of Uganda. We make monthly flights there, bringing babies and their carers for treatment. Thanks to MAF, nine infants who were battling hydrocephalus and spina bifida were flown from South Sudan to the Ugandan hospital last year. Please pray for the babies’ recovery and for their ongoing development. Pray too for additional funding to continue these regular flights
MONDAY 10 MAF in Uganda is working to reopen existing airstrips and build new runways in isolated areas to which we haven’t flown before. Give thanks that this will enable MAF partners to reach areas of real need
TUESDAY 11 MAF has launched a green initiative to encourage the use of reusable water bottles that passengers can refill before boarding our planes. Pray that MAF will be able to implement more environmentally friendly schemes. Pray too for our work with the local community to reduce single-use plastic.
WEDNESDAY 12 MAF is working on an exciting initiative to use a floatplane to serve the isolated islands on Lake Victoria. Please pray for the logistics, such as purchasing docking on Lake Victoria and organising training for a pilot. Pray too for the connections that will be built with the local communities there

TUESDAY 18 Pray for the Bible boxes delivered in northern Chad, praying that the Holy Spirit will help those who receive them to understand God’s life-giving words. Pray that He will use His people to share what they’ve read with others, and that many will receive a life-changing revelation of Jesus.
WEDNESDAY 19 Pray that God will give wisdom as to how to progress the work in Chad by serving the people there. Pray that we will continue to be diligent stewards of partnerships, resources and relationships.
THURSDAY 20 Pray for our Chad Communications Officer Pushpa Lawrence as she seeks to share, through different media, the incredible work being done by our team.
FRIDAY 21 Please pray for our pilots who must sometimes make quick decisions to keep everyone safe and secure when factors outside their control occur. On one occasion, the pilot had to make a diversion, having realised that a remote runway was flooded — making it impossible to land. Pray for wisdom and strength.
SATURDAY 22 Give thanks for the work of the ADP (Association for Development and Peace) which has translated the Teda people’s language so faithfully for 30 years. SATURDAY 29 Pray today for the recruitment of administrative and support staff. Their work — though often unsung — is crucial to the smooth operation of MAF’s mission.
SUNDAY 30 On this Mothering Sunday, let’s praise God for the mothers within the MAF community. Pray that they will feel supported and will know how appreciated they are.
MONDAY 31 Pray for the mission schools in South Sudan, Liberia and PNG where there’s a critical shortage of teachers. Ask God to raise up skilled and passionate educators to fill these vacancies so that the children of missionary families can receive the education they need.
