Camp Minitown Spring 2013 seeks MNPS students from Overton, Stratford, Cane Ridge, Hillsboro, and Pearl Cohn for a residential leadership camp (led by students, supported by caring adults) where students practice communication and conflict negotiation skills while gaining awareness about stereotypes and discrimination. Community-Based Opportunities Adventure Science Center ScienceQuest Day Camp at Adventure Science Center provides a wide range of science enrichment programs for youth in grades K-6. Programs combine science, technology, engineering and math. Science Quest Camp is based on the dual philosophies that children learn by doing and that play is the work of children. ASC's unique space is a fertile environment for inquisitive minds to blossom. Intersession camp is March 18-22 and Spring Break Camp is March 25-29. Pre-registration is required and fees start at $45/day. Regular camp hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with early drop-off and late pick-up available for an additional fee. Each day includes hands-on science activities, opportunities to make friends, a break for lunch, and Science Center exploration. Adventure Science Center is open 7 days a week for families to visit. Proposed conference topics include free speech (online and offline), freedom of the press, religious freedom, interactions with law enforcement, LGBT equality, the right to privacy and tools for change. These interactive sessions will provides students the opportunity to learn about their constitutional rights and responsibilities, network with youth from many schools to discuss civic engagement opportunities, and learn strategies for creating change. BELL Garden at Bellevue Middle School The Bellevue Edible Learning Lab (BELL) Garden is an acre on school grounds that is devoted to outdoor, hands-on learning through gardening. In this Intersession, students will participate in all aspects of planting a Spring garden. We will incorporate educational activities to tasks such as preparing soil for garden beds, learning about compost and decomposers (aka worms!), and planting seeds and transplants of early Spring crops. We look forward to celebrating the official beginning of Spring during this truly unique program." This is a fee based program open to middle school students in the community for $120, which includes materials and a healthy

snack each day. We will celebrate the conclusion of our program with a homemade wood-fired pizza party on Friday, so plan to stay a little later that day! Spring Intersession. The NSSA has a focus of using the stepping art form as a cultural relevant anchor to get kids active (fighting obesity) and academically focused (with an eye towards college).
