DIY Squares Board
Materials
12x12x.25 board, unstained, sanded vinegar steel wool gloves old paint brush chalk ink pen ruler pencil
No. 1 A few days prior to making your squares board you will need to prep your vinegar stain. For one board you’ll need about 2 cups of vinegar and one pad of steel wool. Pour vinegar into a large mason jar and add the steel wool. Let it oxidize at least overnight, for best results a couple of days.
No. 2 When mixture is ready, paint your board front and back using a generous amount of liquid on your brush. Let completely dry.
No. 3 Measure out a 10x10 square from the bottom right corner of your board. Make little hash marks with your pencil at each inch on every side of your square. Connect your marks vertically and horizontally until you’ve penciled in your 10x10 grid...you should have 100 squares with a 2 inch border on the left side and top. Mark over your pencil marks with the chalk ink pen.
No. 4 In the outside boarder make a smaller 1/2 inch boarder around the 10x10 square.
No. 5 With your remaining larger boarder space, handletter the team’s names one on the left, the other across the top with your chalk ink pen. Jazz it up with their logo, or add field markings!
No. 6 After your board it complete, you’re ready Betty! Have your guest fill in their names in the amount of squares they paid for. Once every square is filled, and before the game starts, randomly draw the numbers 0-9 from a hat and mark each number in your 1/2 inch boarder around your squares in each row/column. Do it for both teams. The numbers represent the last number in each teams score (I.e the score is Bears 23-Packers 10 at the end of the 1st quarter..find the 3 and the 0 for the corresponding team on your board and follow it to the winning square!) Game on! Hut Hut!
