The saying goes ‘if it isn’t broken don’t fix it’ and that’s the mentality that Austrian concern KTM have had with the release of their 2011 enduro model range, which has remained largely unchanged for the new season. The introduction of the new revolutionary SX-F 350 motocross machine is good news and has undoubtedly taken the spotlight from the enduro range for 2011, although it’s fair to assume that in the not too distant future an enduro version of the 350 will be added to the comprehensive line up to complement the model range. The newly named Enduro World Championship (EWC) kicked off in Valverde Del Camino, Spain, in early April and as expected the competition between the top riders in all classes was fierce, with a number of different names visiting the podium over the weekend. Only a week later the paddock had upped sticks and arrived in Portugal for the second round, which provided yet more tough going alongside some stunning scenery. Italy is one of the most anticipated rounds of the series and this year was no exception. With stunning tests and the added excitement of the opening Women’s World Championship the Italian GP was not to be missed. P Words: Stuart Taylor Pictures: Robert Lynn and Stuart Taylor

The Hafren Dirt Bike Club are no strangers when it comes to organising professional enduro events. Having hosted both a round of the Enduro World Championship and European Enduro Championship in recent times the club and its organisers are well equipped in the art of creating a technical and interesting course. Manxman David Knight would be hoping to repeat his performance from round two of the championship at Lossiemouth, although with the KORR team breathing down his neck and the Putoline Fast Eddy team snapping at his heels nothing was for certain. French motorcycle manufacturer Sherco are no strangers when it comes to building competitive off-road motorcycles, as we have already witnessed in the trials world. The arrival last year on the enduro scene of the new 250i-F and 450i-F models powered by the new fuel injected four-stroke engine gave us a vision of what they can offer in this competitive field. Extreme Enduro specialist Graham Jarvis had already demonstrated the machine’s abilities on the world stage. With the arrival of the new 3.0i-F has he found the machine of his dreams? He has already demonstrated its capabilities with some pretty impressive podium results. Aimed at the market as an all round competitive machine at all levels of the sport we let our test rider Stu Day loose on the machine to explore its capabilities. EDUCATION For anybody within the off-road fraternity the name Mick Extance needs no introduction; the multi-time Dakar competitor simply lives and breathes off-road bikes in every form. Setting up his own off-road school had been a dream for years and after competing in his final Dakar in 2009 he went about starting his new venture. When we got an invitation to go down for a day’s riding in the Llangynog forest, mid Wales, we jumped at the chance! P
