PRINT-2-MEDIA UNLOCKS NEW MARKETS WITH NYALA 4
Cornish based signage and fine art printer, Print-2-Media, has installed a swissQprint Nyala 4, adding efficiency, quality, and productivity to its print room, as well as opening up new areas of business.
The 3.2×2 metre flatbed Nyala 4, has delivered significant advantages in both speed and capability over the two metre machine it has replaced. Print-2-Media’s team of eight is already seeing the Nyala 4’s productivity and ease of use contribute significantly to all aspects of their business.
Diverse international customer base — Operating in a variety of commercial sectors and with almost 40 per cent of its business derived from its online presence, Print-2-Media’s clients range from individual B2C commissions to local, national and international artists seeking limited edition fine art prints.
In addition, the business works in several specialist sectors, including the production of internal and external signage for both schools and national garden centre chains. With its additional roll unit, six inks including CMYK, white and varnish and a double row of print heads, the Nyala 4 has provided significant flexibility to their production output.
New workload dynamic — The production team arrives for work in the morning and, within minutes, are printing high quality results. Virtually no time is lost to head cleaning or dropped out nozzles. “This ‘plug and play’ capability alone is already making us realise that our investment in Swiss built quality is well founded,” said Glenn Wrigley, Director of Print-2-Media.
Print-2-Media has seen a complete change in the workload dynamic, too. Historically, its finishing department was waiting for the printers to complete a job. Now the pressure is on them to keep up with the Nyala 4’s production speeds.
Further to the Nyala’s clear production efficiency and operational benefits, the contribution it makes to Print-2-Media’s long term capital investment planning is impressive. “When calculated over the expected working life of the equipment, swissQprint’s renowned low service costs and durability credentials mean that we get all the production advantages and flexibility, essentially at no additional cost. This is a clear case of ‘buy right, buy once’,” said Wrigley.
The Nyala’s larger 3.2 metre flatbed has also widened the range of products that Print-2-Media can offer to its clients. Print-2-Media’s recent new venture, The School Sign Shop, launched during the pandemic, already accounts for ten per cent of the firm’s turnover, a result brought about in no small part by its enhanced production versatility. Being able to deliver a complete service across an impressive array of products using the Nyala 4 has making such a difference to the team at Print-2Media: “Seeing the Nyala 4 contribute so positively to so many areas of their business is affirmation of our drive to produce effective solutions for our customers.”
Whilst capital investment and performance are vital, sometimes it’s the little things that make operators fall in love with equipment; and swissQprint’s output software is one of these. “Setting step and repeat jobs and having templates ready in an instant, makes the team’s day a delight! The Nyala 4 is our new favourite machine,” concluded Wrigley. www.swissqprint.co.uk
