NEW CANON PROSTREAM 1800
Canon has announced the launch of its new ProStream 1800 continuous
feed inkjet printer, the newest model in its ProStream 1000 series. With increased speeds of up to 133m/min, the new printer boasts the highest resolution and print quality of any digital printing press at that speed, making it the ideal solution for commercial printers who want to achieve ultimate performance.
Supporting customers’ passion for print, the new ProStream 1800 has been designed to push the boundaries of commercial print to meet changing customer demands. Combining new inkjet innovations with proven offset printing techniques, the press strikes a unique balance between high productivity, superior print quality, flexibility and media versatility. Commercial printers can now expand their offering by migrating higher volume jobs from offset to digital inkjet. With the higher web speed of 133m/min (66% faster than the ProStream 1000), the ProStream 1800 produces up to 107,500 A4 images or 11,300 B2 sheets 4/4 per hour while maintaining superior print quality. The ProStream 1800 can achieve a very high level of print quality across a huge range of media, including standard offset coated, uncoated and inkjet optimised papers from 40gsm to 300gsm. Print calendars, posters and point of sale applications with the ability to print up to 556mm wide and 1,524mm long. Eliminate the need to stop production to switch between different format lengths to ensure a seamless changeover – providing additional flexibility and ease of use for operators.

FOLIANT LAUNCHES NEXT GENERATION MODELS
Foliant has launched two next generation laminators designed to bridge the gap between industrial and entry level systems.
Available now, the Foliant Vega 400SF for the B3 market and Foliant Vega 530SF for the B2 market, have been developed to deliver increased performance, enhanced runnability and simpler set up. They can also handle a wide variety of digital printed sheets and high volumes of offset printed sheets ensuring production flexibility.
The Foliant Vega 400 SF runs at up to 20 m/min, 2300 B3 sheets per hour, and has a maximum format of 38 cm x 66 cm. The Foliant Vega 530 SF runs at up to 20 m/min,1720 sheets per hour, and has a maximum format 53 cm x 75 cm.

Time is saved through the intelligent interruption of jobs functionality that does not require reinstallation or re-adjustment, while the non-sticky pressure roller does not stick to glue, film, toners or paper eliminating roller cleaning. It also allows lamination of sheets with windows.
Both systems can be retrofitted with the Foliant foiler. It applies metalised foils such as gold, silver and red, holographic foils and transparent glossy foil onto digital toner.

Epson has announced its first 76 inch large
format printer in its LFP history. The SureColor SC-F10000 is a sophisticated, dye-sublimation printer that has been developed for the textile production market; where high productivity, speed and reliability are central to the success of the business. Morgana Systems, Milton Keynes, has announced the addition of two
new models to its popular range of flatbed cutters. Firstly, there is a new smaller “entry level” version of the popular and versatile Optima system, and secondly a more automated new addition to the range, the Omnia, complete with an automated feeder.
The Optima V50 is the latest and smallest of the current range of flatbed cutters and is designed for digital printers needing to cut a wide range of substrates in thickness up to 20mm but who are tight on floorspace.
The Omnia combines the versatility of the Optima products with regards to substrate range along with a newly designed sheet feeder and optical register system, meaning that the system can be set to run repetitive tasks without requiring an operator. The system can even be left to run unattended overnight.

Optima V50 — Optima V50 is the entry level cutting solution for short run cutting projects. Extremely compact and affordable, it’s the ideal solution for a company wishing to start producing mock-ups, prototypes, and small production lots without the need for die cutting.
Optima V50 is a single head cutting system capable of swapping from one tool to another in less than 10 seconds without any adjustment. It comes as standard with a tangential cutting tool (cutting material up to 5mm thick), a creasing tool and a camera, which in combination with OptiCrop software, allows you to detect printing crop marks and perform contour cuts. An optional oscillating cutting tool will allow substrates up to 20 mm to be cut expanding the range of applications.

The oversized feeder and suction system automatically deliver materials into the cutting machine, which has a 600 x 800mm cutting table. The automatic crop mark detection allows a hands free cutting process and a status indicator will notify the operator when the feeder has dropped to the minimum quantity so It can be reloaded. The feeder can stack up to 500 sheets of 300gsm card stock.
The QR Code feature improves workflow even further. The camera quickly detects the code, brings up the cut details, and then executes each project, eliminating cut lists.
Average speed per sheet is calculated in 30/45 seconds when cutting A3+ sheet and a medium complexity package design.
