Dycomet: Stand K129 Dycomet will be displaying, demonstrating and presenting the Cold Metal Spray system which is revolutionising the task of adding metal in repairing and coating processes. Up until now, it has been necessary to use heat when adding metal to any component and, the problem with heat is that it can cause distortion as well as pooling and gas pockets which attract impurities. The Dycomet Cold Metal Spray system requires no heat.
Hitachi High-Technologies Europe: Stand A83 Advanced Engineering UK 2014 will be one of the first opportunities for visitors to see Hitachi High-Technologies Europe’s next-generation tabletop scanning electron microscope, the TM3030Plus Tabletop SEM. The unit comes equipped with a proprietary, high sensitivity, low-vacuum Secondary Electron (SE) detector, which, unlike standard SE detectors, works in Low Vacuum conditions. Quadratec: Stand C56 An automated 6 axis Circumferential Probe Traverse System and 3 axis Cartesian Probe Traverse System were designed and manufactured for an Industrial Turbine Model Test Rig, to assess the last stage rotor blade exit and exhaust system aerodynamics. The Circumferential Traverse System traversed two multi-hole, aerodynamic probes across two planes downstream of the turbine rotor last stage, at the diffuser inlet and diffuser exit.

Developed for high-volume production of parts produced by heated press process, RP-570 Snap Cure enables the constructor to create parts in under five minutes, and without the need to cycle the mould tool or to cool the hot mould tool before demoulding at 140°C.

The objective of increasing inspection throughput by a factor of four, will deliver a demonstrator system, capable of inspecting complex geometries, and with high throughput.

LATEST VERSION OF HYPERMILL TO DEBUT AT AERO ENGINEERING SHOW 2014 OPEN MIND Technologies: Stand E8 CAM/CAD software and postprocessor developer OPEN MIND Technologies AG will present version 2014 of the CAM solution hyperMILL at Aero Engineering Show 2014 in Birmingham. The special requirements of the aviation industry also drive the further development of machining strategies and tool support for the hyperMill CAM suite. As such, one key improvement of version 2014 involves the use of barrel cutters in different designs.
SMITH INSTITUTE INVESTIGATES NEXTGENERATION AEROPLANE WEIGHT Smith Institute Stand: B84 Aerospace Engineering Show exhibitor The Smith Institute recently helped Airbus to review its weight estimation methods for aircraft weight outlook. The design phase for a new aircraft can span several years. Materials and technologies evolve during the lifespan of the design, so Airbus needs to monitor the aircraft weight (status mass) at each milestone review and to estimate what the aircraft will weigh (weight outlook) throughout the process.
Mecmesin: Stand G52 Just one of the many new products on show Advanced Engineering 2014 will be the Helixa precision torque tester from Mecmesin. The tester has been designed for achieving precise alignment when using the most sensitive torque sensors. It is a major development in the torque testing of finely engineered components. Designers and engineers of the smallest rotary controls, the lightest springs, the finest bearings, and the most precise rotating fittings are already adopting the Helixa for its leading-edge features.
PROTECTING SENSORS IN HOT MOTOR AND GEAR OILS DELO: Stand G100
Industrial adhesives manufacturer DELO has developed casting compounds on the basis of epoxy resins that permanently withstand hot motor and gear oils, which visitors to Advanced Engineering UK will be able to experience for themselves. Sensors in the engine compartment are subject to extreme thermal and chemical stress. Therefore, chips and printed circuit boards require special protection. Some casting compounds available in the market are not robust enough. Until now, sensor manufacturers have been obliged to protect the electronic components by additional covers.
OPTICAL TRACKING TECHNOLOGY ON SHOW AICON: Stand D92 One of the many developments AICON will be talking about in Birmingham will be 3D Arena, the company’s latest optical tracking technology for design centres. According to the company, 3D Arena will facilitate vehicle designers’ work in the future, the new tracking system enabling them to determine the absolute position of machines in working space, i.e. processing machines such as mobile milling machines or measuring devices such as white light scanners.

Rical Group: Stand F68 Over the last 18 months the sales and project team at Multiforms have been working closely with one of the world’s largest manufacturers of automotive electronic devices to produce a component with very demanding features. This component will be produced consistently, and in very high volume while keeping tolerances, and has been tested and developed extensively.
