Tying the knot at Ferrymead Heritage Park
Ferrymead Heritage Park weddings – a time for celebration
Ferrymead Heritage Park is a very important part of Christchurch’s city and one of the greatest things this spectacular park has to offer is beautiful wedding experiences.
Weddings and wedding photo shoots can be held at any one of their six various locations. Wedding venues include:
Heritage Church (chapel)
This stunning heritage church was built in 1911, as the original Ellesmere Methodist Church, and was relocated to Ferrymead in the 1970s. The church is one of the best locations for weddings, as well as memorial services and other types of celebrations. It can seat up to 70 guests on pews, and extra chairs can be added if needed. The church costs $150 per hour (plus GST) for a minimum of three hours. A wedding tram is also provided, there is also another option for your guests to arrive on the wedding tram too. The tram would go back to pick up the bridal party. This is a wonderful option and a very special way of arriving at your wedding - a moment you’ll never forget. A wedding tram hire costs $185 (plus GST) for two hours.
Friendly Societies Lodge Hall
A more modern building was designed and built to display a mesmerizing 1920s heritage style and décor. The wooden panels and décor would stand out to anyone looking for a lovely wedding venue – perfect for celebrations and includes the use of behind the Lodge Hall next to the ponds, which is another stunning area Ferrymead Heritage Park has to offer. The Lodge Hall can cater to various functions with up to 90 guests for a seated

meal, or up to 100 for a meeting or receptionstyle function. The charge to book Lodge Hall is $150 per hour (plus GST) for a minimum of three hours.
Wedding tram
A beautiful heritage wedding tram can be provided for those who would like to ride in style, it’s a fun way to arrive at your wedding on your special day. You can choose to make an impressive entrance by being brought down into the village next to the church on the wedding tram. This can be done with your bridal party to meet your guests, or conduct your ceremony and then hop on the wedding tram to take you to the next part of your wedding ceremony. Going on the wedding tram would be a wonderful time and not often can people say they’ve been on a tram before – let alone for a wedding celebration. It’s also a great opportunity to take many stunning and eyecatching photos. The wedding tram is for hire for $185 (plus GST) for two hours. And, an extra half an hour is allowed for decorating the wedding tram to suit your style before you hire the tram to make the experience as personal as possible.
Coronation Park
This beautiful and spacious park is located in the centre of the township and is a wonderful and peaceful place to have a wedding reception, event, or picnic. Sit back and relax while watching the trams go by as you take in the Heritage Street environment.

AMURI ESTATE
Your wedding venue is one of the first, and most important, decisions you will make when planning your wedding reception.
Keep in mind, it will set the backdrop for your special day, so it’s important to get it right. However, even if you know exactly what your dream wedding will look like, it can be difficult finding the right location.
Look no further than Amuri Estate; Hanmer Springs’ ultimate wedding venue which boasts an idyllic setting with panoramic views of the Southern Alps. Featuring a mature olive grove as well as extensive exotic and native New Zealand plantings, this country escape is a place to unwind and feel at peace knowing you’re far away from the city.
By day you will revel in the everchanging scenic views of majestic mountains, the braided Waiau river, and the surrounding sheep, deer, and cattle stations. At night, you will be dazzled by the stars and the twinkling lights of nearby Hanmer Springs.
With multiple outdoor areas, the modern barn-style main hall is perfect for wedding receptions and large conferences or events. Amuri Estate offers a beautiful, grassed ceremony area with an archway framing the view, surrounded by gardens and a bank of grandstand seating. Inside the venue there is an idyllic wet weather room with a large window that looks out to the vast mountain range and perfectly shapes the view. It is a special location for winter weddings, warmed by the under-floor heating, which will provide the perfect atmosphere.
Seating arrangements can be discussed with the team as Amuri Estate can accommodate up to 200 guests in a seated environment. There are also many bridal photography locations on the property, and nearby should you wish to explore.
A well-thought-out menu is an essential part to any successful wedding, and thus it is important to consider your catering options carefully. The team at Amuri Estate work with a selection of experienced caterers that you can choose from. They all offer a great range of choice, suitable for any budget, including

cocktail platters, beverages, buffet, or sit-down meals. Alternatively, if you have a specific company you would like to use, the team are happy to discuss other caterers, however we want to ensure they are highly recommended first as food does have a reflection on the overall experience at a venue.
An established, luxury lodge and cottage is available for exclusive hire for your wedding night. The lodge has three tastefully decorated, comfortable rooms with joint kitchen, dining, and lounge facilities, all warmed by a doubled sided schist gas fire, heat pumps and under floor heating. Their guest rooms have their own distinctive character and unique views. Also available is the Wallace Peak Cottage which is situated within the established olive grove with separate access and spectacular views of Mt Wallace, the Waiau river and the Hanmer Mountain range.
The venue is located only a ten-minute drive from the Hanmer Springs village and is 90 minutes away from Christchurch. This means you can easily explore the many fine restaurants, shops, thermal pools, and outdoor activities that the township has to offer.
Amuri Estate takes pride on being a personal and tastefully styled venue, with flexible options for your wedding arrangements. Indeed, their well-experienced team are committed to ensuring that their clients achieve their perfect wedding day. Should you, or your guests, have any specific preferences or requirements relating to your special day, please let the team know and they will do their best to ensure that this memorable occasion is everything you could hope for it to be – and more!

What happy clients of Amuri Estate have to say
about their experience:
“ We couldn’t have asked for a better wedding venue and a better experience. Everything was perfect! Having spent a lot of my childhood in Hanmer Springs I always knew I wanted to get married in the village. And finding Amuri Estate was like winning the lottery! Amuri Estate is such a special place – the view, the vibe and the hospitality are all phenomenal.
I just can’t recommend this venue enough- not only for the beautiful setting and grounds but the most accommodating and genuinely lovely owner-operators. It was such a stress free, relaxed, and beautifully happy day for us. Thank you so much Vanessa and team. ” – Annette & Richard

A network for forwardthinking solutions
For many years, the Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders Federation (CBAFF) of New Zealand represented a sector the public knew very little about.
The global pandemic has changed that, with extensive coverage in mainstream media about the logistical challenges of shipping cargo in an out of the country. There is now more understanding of the role of customs brokers, who represent importers and exporters in clearing goods through Customs, and of freight forwarders who organise the transport of freight by air or through shipping lines. CBAFF was established in 1996 but its origins date back much further. It was created through an amalgamation of the New Zealand Society of Customs Brokers (NZSCB), which was founded in 1921, and the NZ Institute of International Freight Forwarders Associations The organisation works to promote the interests of members working professionally in the customs broking and freight forwarding sector and is affiliated to the wider transport industry. It advocates, promotes and provides a strong voice for the New Zealand international logistics industry to regulators and stakeholders and supports members through providing ongoing information, guidance and education. CBAFF is committed to ensuring the industry can be seen as a rewarding profession and that young people entering the sector stay and grow in their careers. This includes providing a range of New Zealand freight courses, to help people to get started in the industry or for those in the industry to upskill. CBAFF’s role has proved more critical than ever before over the past two years as the sector has worked to support the continued flow of New Zealand’s vital exports and to facilitate imports in the face of factories and ports being locked down internationally, container shortages, port backlogs and changes to shipping schedules. It provides members with daily updates on all information relevant to the industry, from government, shipping and air freight operators, standards and guidelines and other news and events. It also provides a national member business directory for those seeking support moving their freight. Freight forwarders move almost all cargo that travels in an out of New Zealand, from cars to clothes, heavy machinery to grocery items. Chilled goods to chemicals, animal feed to medical equipment. Moving goods around the world, especially now with so many ‘speed bumps’ currently likely to be encountered on those journeys, requires a vast amount of knowledge and expertise, networks and relationships. Freight forwarders source containers, book space, oversee loading and discharge of goods, organise Customs and Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF) inspections, complete import and export documentation and much more. They work to find the best solutions for customers, offering them as many options as are available, and keeping them updated individually on the progress of their cargo, acting swiftly to accommodate any changes that occur during its journey. The industry is seeking to recruit bright new people for many aspects of the sector, ranging from freight forwarders themselves to people to work in areas such as warehousing.
