Eva Wegrostek has always been fascinated by the topic of ageing, which is why she is also considered an expert in non-invasive beauty medicine. The sought-after doctor has also deepened her knowledge of skin ageing by consulting with the world’s foremost specialists in this sector – and opened her own practice with the aim of giving her patients a “feel-good” experience along the way. Through decades of experience, this mother of a grownup daughter has acquired considerable know-how, which she herself describes as an “artisan’s craft”. This interview reveals small beauty secrets that can make a big difference.
Dear Eva, natural authenticity is particularly important to you, how do you manage to preserve it in aesthetic medicine? DR. EVA WEGROSTEK: You just have to get it right! Most people think it’s the skin’s fault when everything starts to sag, but it’s actually due to the supporting fat deposits just beneath the surface. In young people, these are ample, but they diminish more and more as one grows older. With the help of hyaluron, contours can be lifted again. My goal is to restore the face, not to remodel it – that’s always been most important to me. Growing older isn’t always easy, as Dr. Eva Wegrostek well knows. The beauty expert also knows how to defy the signs of time and e ectively counteract skin ageing.

These days you hear people say: “The sooner you start Botox injections, the less the muscles slacken.” Can you support this view? Absolutely, but the process is different for everyone. Some people use a lot of facial expressions or are very athletic, and their neck muscles, the platysma, tend to be pronounced, which can quickly lead to wrinkles. However, if injected with Botox from the age of 30, the neck remains smooth and contour is maintained, which is the most important thing for a youthful appearance: it’s always about the edges, i.e. the transition from the chin to the neck!
So you’re a Botox advocate? Definitely, I’ve been using it myself for decades, you just have to know how to apply it properly. You have to know where the muscles run, how deep you have to inject, what distribution radius you have; it really must be applied in a targeted way.
Can wrinkles on the upper lip also be removed with Botox? As soon as you notice a wrinkle on the upper lip, it should be treated immediately because it becomes more and more difficult later on. That’s why I love Botox, even for younger people, because there is nothing wrong with taking precautions with their lips. But if the wrinkles are already there, you really have to know exactly when and where to do what. If the skin is still soft, you can try a gentle injection, but if it’s already too firm, you have to work with your own blood. This is injected
How long does that last? My philosophy is: You are as young and beautiful as long as your skin tissues stay healthy! Everything you add, whether hyaluron or threads – if the skin is strong and active, it will be processed. But if I have skin that is flabby and inactive from daily solarium visits, creams are not absorbed and you can inject whatever you want, but it won’t help. That’s why I don’t inject anything into skin that I already know won’t respond favorably.

into the tissue so that new fibres can form – and then the skin becomes beautiful again.
In winter you treated your face with a CO2 laser and posted the often frightening photos on Facebook. Why do you do this? Because I try out everything on myself before recommending treatments to my patients! And if you are not 20 anymore and want to improve naturally, then this is a pretty good method. Hundreds of microscopic holes are burned into the skin with the laser, thus stimulating the body’s own repair. On the one hand you have the “shrinking” of the tissue from the heat and on the other hand you activate the self-healing powers of the skin, which is healthy around the punctures. Everything heals up within 14 days. Afterwards, the skin is taut and soft as a baby’s bottom. The effect lasts for over a year, it gets better every month and you can see how the skin tightens more and more.
Is there any kind of minimum duration after such a laser treatment? It varies. If someone lives healthily, avoids direct sunlight, doesn’t smoke, applies facial masks every day and eats a balanced diet, the treatment will probably last 10 years. If you have genetically poor skin, smoke and don’t take care of your skin, wrinkles will return sooner – it’s all about proper maintenance!
You have your own product line … Absolutely, that’s why we even train our clients on how best to use my products. I don’t want any application mistakes and I speak personally with my clients directly.
About cost: Is it affordable at all to stay young? Certainly! If I check my skin early enough and find out how to avoid wrinkles, I can maintain a steady condition for a long time and get away with minor repairs. Just keep getting individual advice early enough, because everyone’s skin is different.
Where would you say the trend is headed? Exactly in the direction that I practice: noninvasive and preventive – away from this American splash-up.
Is beauty medicine still a taboo subject in Austria?
Absolutely. I have patients who have been doing it for 20 years and their husbands know nothing about it. It’s not about staying young forever, it’s about looking good for your age:
That is the calling card – it’s all about an entitlement to stay beautiful! You should be able to look in the mirror in the morning and say: “Well done”.
How do you personally keep yourself so attractive and outwardly young-seeming? I move a lot, I ride, I do yoga and I also pay close attention to my diet, because nothing comes from nothing. In addition, I am an incredibly positive person and a fan of everyday happiness. There are always small pleasures to enjoy. And I have just as much fun here at the clinic as I do in my free time.
Your hopes for the future? Staying fit and healthy, being able to ride and being able to eventually hand over my life’s work to my daughter, who will continue fabulously!
