3.1. SUSTAINABLE DRAINAGE & SCHOOL IRRIGATION SYSTEM

Identifying the problem of lack of access to fresh water and electricity on-site, I came with a self-sufficient irrigation system designed to effectively harvest rainwater using the natural landform by guiding the rainwater outflow to specially designed swales. The selection of plant species in swales will allow natural site drainage and rainwater filtration from pollutants and heavy metals collected in a special underground tank with a submersible water pump powered by renewable energy. This simple and relatively cheap system will allow re-use of rainwater for watering plants with optimal use of green technologies.
