1. Talent Environment, Birmingham M.Arch Thesis Housing and Urbanism Programme, AA School of Architecture Individual work. Tutors: Lawrence Barth and Anna Shapiro Knowledge and cultural city models are becoming the strategies for the urban transformations of cities. However, these models often do not clarify how we might gain long-term values through that processes and how these models might support the emergence of liveable environments that would retain and attract new talents. Today, there is a trend that people start to look again at the idea of the living in the city centre. However, this is getting more and more unaffordable in London because of the high developmental pressure. What Birmingham can offer differently is an opportunity for the affordable living just in the city centre rich with resources. The Big City Plan distinguishes Digbeth as an area with a significant creative vocation into which the city living will expand. The existing creative industries start to make the area the trendiest place for affordable working environment. Moreover, the proximity to the city centre and the network of local businesses make it possible to think of this area as particularly attractive for living environment. However, there is a risk that the market-driven approaches might eliminate the local values. The main goal of the thesis was to go beyond the vision of the Big City Plan. Define how housing and creative industry might work together in order to promote values, diversity and rich intensification within Digbeth. How architecture as urbanism can drive change and create new living opportunities in the central city environment.

2. Loughbrough Junction, London Concept design , Design development PRP, London Design elaborated by a team of 4 people. 3D model, section and plans by author.

Client: Peabody Housing Association, Lambeth Council This project includes the re-development of the Higgs Industrial estate site the other side of Coldharbour Lane from Loughborough Junction station. The proposal went on show for local people and businesses at the start of March 2018. It includes about 130 homes and commercial space in a mixed development. According to the Peabody housing association, the plans will also include improvements to the public realm with open access to railway arches and a courtyard for residents. The new scheme has fewer homes and buildings would range in height from five to eight storeys. It also has more than 3,500 square metres of office and light industrial units.

This project includes five sites of varying scales across the London Borough of Redbridge. It aims to produce high quality affordable family housing within difficult infill sites whilst enhancing the immediate environment through the public realm. I took part in the design of these sites from the initial viability stage and I have been involved in the production of the information for the planning applications through to the completion of RIBA work stage 4. 1 : 10

4. Bollo Lane, Ealing, London Planning Application, Working Drawings Package PRP, London Design elaborated by a team of 8 people. CGIs and 3D model elaborated by team. Elevation studiesnd details by author. Client: Pocket living Bollo Lane features 84 ‚Pocket’ homes, 28 private sale apartments, and flexible office space. Stepping in form, from three, eight and 14-storeys, the building celebrates the interface between different contexts - traditional low-rise residential; industrial warehouses; and the taller Chiswick Park structures. Creating local employment opportunities and offering middle-income ‘city makers’ homes discounted to at least 20% below open market rates, the scheme also provides generous communal terraces and internal lounges, promoting social interaction. Designed for innovative volumetric modular construction, a central boiler and low maintenance materials ensure both longevity and low service charges.

6. London Road, Wembley Concept design towards Planning PRP, London Design elaborated by a team of 3 people. CGIs elaborated by team. 3D model, diagrams, sketches, 2D drawings done by author. Client: Brent Housing Management This project includes the re-development proposals for the Wembley Youth Centre and former Dennis Jackson Centre on London Road, Wembley which features 150 affordable homes. The proposals will provide new purpose built rented residential accommodation for local people; a mix of low cost rented, supported and temporary accommodation. The proposed development includes the re-provision of a community facility. I took part in the design of this project from the initial viability stage and I have been involved in the resident consultations. The work now is moving on to RIBA Work Stage 3 with the intention of submitting a detailed planning application.

7. Helsinki Central Library International Competition Entry Studio EL, Wroclaw Design elaborated by a team of 4 people. CGIs and 3D model elaborated by team. 2D drawings by author. The main idea for the design of the library was the modular facade which is made of the boxes of various depth. They were designed in such a way to provide additional space for individual work or meetings. Not only do they diversify the space of the library, but they also provide views to the surrounding park and act as a thermal insulation as well as sun rays filtration system. The building is made of steel construction. The structure of the building enables maximum flexibility of the interior. Atrium acts as the most esternal layer of the library, made of glass wall. It acts as a buffer zone between outside and inside and by this protects the interior of the building from overcooling and overheating.
