COMPANY PROFILE GEOTEST S.A. was established in April of 2003 and is located in Ioannina, at the 6th km of the National Road of Ioannina - Athens. The laboratory and the offices of the company cover an area of 300m2. The company shareholders are 12 engineers of different specialties. GEOTEST S.A. provides services within the fields of quality control of technical projects. In particular the field of GEOTEST S.A. activities includes: • • • • • • •

GEOTEST S.A. has a fully equipped laboratory, recognized officially by the Ministry of Environment and the General Directorate of Public Works Quality.
GEOTEST S.A. laboratory, using state of the art equipment, being staffed by highly trained scientists and technicians and having participated in large projects, can guarantee the highest quality of effectiveness and service. GEOTEST S.A. has successful long–term cooperative relations with GEOGNOSI S.A., which is one of the most prominent compa-
nies for geotechnical studies and obtains a fully equipped geotechnical laboratory. GEOTEST S.A. has also cooperation with the firm PAVETEST.S.A. concerning pavement testing and management. Furthermore GEOTEST S.A. is an affiliated member of the MSS-NDE laboratory of the Dept. of Materials Science and Engineering of the University of Ioannina.

INSTALLATION OF ON-SITE LABORATORY GEOTEST S.A. is able of installing on-site laboratory for the quality control of great technical projects. The on – site laboratory can provide all the basic quality tests for soil, concrete and asphalts works in order to practice the quality control of the project during the progress of the construction. Remarkable is the participation of GEOTEST S.A., as a consultant in quality, in the works of "Egnatia odos" highway, during the period 2005-2010. "Egnatia odos" highway starts from Igoumenitsa port, crosses Epirus, Macedonia and Thrace and ends to Kipi in Greek-Turkish borders. It is the largest road construction project in Greece, as the total road length is about 670 km and includes 63 interchanges, 43 river passes and more than 170 bridges and 70 tunnels. GEOTEST S.A. has undertaken on behalf of EGNATIA ODOS S.A. the conduction of laboratory tests for the quality control of concrete, asphalt and soil materials, and also the conduction of integrity tests of concrete piles by NDT methods. All these tests were conducted in cooperation with the Supervision Section of Egnatia Odos for Epirus (Ioannina), according to the standards and requirements of the infrastructure projects of great importance.
ON-SITE INVESTIGATION OF REINFORCED CONCRETE STRUCTURES GEOTEST S.A. is able to perform Non-destructive testing (NDT) in order to control the quality of
existing concrete structures. The test systems, that are used, are of the latest technology and cover varied aspects of concrete construction and investigation. The equipment that we obtain are used to perform totally nondestructive test methods or test methods that require limited near- to face specimen removal. The staff of GEOTEST S.A. is properly trained in planning testing programs, in using the test systems and interpreting test results.

NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING OF PAVEMENTS AND PAVEMENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS GEOTEST S.A., in cooperation with PAVETEST S.A., provides services in the field of pavements testing and management. We obtain all the required equipments, in order to evaluate the pavement condition and to specify the necessary actions that should be implemented for its maintenance and rehabilitation. The evaluation progress of pavements is conducted with Non-Destructive ways of testing that includes: • •

Capacity Test: In order to estimate the carrying capacity of pavements, we use the device FWD (Falling Weight Deflectometer) of Grontmij Carl Bro. Friction test: In order to measure the friction characteristics of pavements, we use the device Grip Tester of Findlay Irvine. Grip Tester has the ability to register the friction of pavement per 1m of road length and input the data in its incorporated software. The are presented in tables and charts so as to be easily used for the evaluation of the friction and the level of dangerousness of the road. Roughness Test: The estimation of the serviceability of the pavement is conducted by the measurement of the roughness and regularity, using laser- profilemeter device.
