IIDA Texas/Oklahoma Design Excellence Award

After experiencing double digit population growth over the past couple of decades, Collin College found itself needing to add educational programs to serve the residences of Wylie. Collin College embarked on a massive bond program to build a new campus on the land adjacent to the City of Wylie government center. Page was commissioned to guide the College’s vision from a strategic master plan to site development to building design.

This Phase I development of 350,000sf will provide the backbone for the campus life including the Welcome Center, Resource Center, and the Student Center with educational and faculty spaces located in each building for an integrated learning and social environment. The interior finishes compliment the timeless exterior, a Texas Regional style using limestone, multi-tone buff brick, painted steel trellis and clear glass. Color is introduced into the exterior and interior details to provide visual interest and an intuitive wayfinding between buildings within a unified concept for the campus. With the goal of inviting students to stay on campus for individual study and collaboration, open spaces prioritizing natural light and varied furniture solutions was at the forefront of planning efforts.

As designer on this project, my responsibilities included producing planning studies for all campus buildings, interior finish scheme, interior design of millwork, renderings for client presentation, and construction drawings.
