A Pirate’s Message By: Maggie Liu _________________________________________________________________________________ __
My name is Captain McMonkey and if you are reading this, it means that I’m already dead. I’m writing this because I have a hidden treasure on The Island of Doom, if you are lucky, you can follow my map and instructions and maybe good fortune will befall on you, but be careful, this journey won’t be an easy one. First, let me tell you about myself so that my legacy lives on. Now, let me tell you about myself. As you know, my name is Captain McMonkey. I am a girl - if you don’t know. I have black hair and green eyes. I have no scars, and I also have all my bodyparts. My parents are both pirates, and my siblings are too! Although sometimes, I admit, I am a bit bossy and also bad-tempered, but most of the times I am polite and nice. I like to keep myself clean, unlike most pirates, so I don’t really look like one. I was born on July 23, 1261. Now, I am going to tell you about the Island of Doom. The Island of Doom is where I hid my treasure hundreds of years before you are reading this. This island is located at 13°N and 177°E. It is in the Pacific Ocean. It is between the United States and China. It is only visible on my birthday every year, but only for 24 hours. All legends are real about this island. It is not very big, but trillions of mosquitoes are living on the island. There is only one way to enter it. No people are living there, also,
the only animals are mosquitoes. If you put all the mosquitoes together, they will be as big as Taiwan! They are also the only things that are dangerous there. If you are brave enough to try and find my treasure, you will not be disappointed. I got the treasure I hid there from a beach in England. Inside the treasure chest, there is a 400-foot gold chain that is worth $5 trillion, a diamond necklace worth $40 million, and a necklace made out of gold that is worth $3 trillion. It is buried inside Treasure Mountain. You can follow my treasure map and read my instructions, but beware of the mosquitoes hunting for fresh blood and guarding the island! Good luck and watch out for the furious storms that will start if anyone tries to go onto the island!
Sincerely,
Captain McMonkey
