SPECIAL INVITATION What is Penn Museum? It is a sanctuary of knowledge sitting up high on a plinth, shying away from the public. It is an evidence of colonization, holding collections from enslaving and invading. But more importantly, it is the educator for the public and the leader of technological and sociological progress. The greatness of Penn Museum lies in its constant reflection on the society and on itself. It lies in the Museum’s courage of confronting its own weakness and making the change. This project takes the renovation of the Stoner Courtyard as an opportunity for Penn Museum to invite and embrace the public. The new Stoner courtyard is to be a space that shared by both the museum and the public. Let it be the space that invites people from all cultures and all backgrounds. Together with everyone on earth, Penn Museum celebrates the brighter future of appreciation and diversity. street view

PART OF WHOLE Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden has a long tradition of applying sustainable design and management in their daily practice. In their new yellowstone exhibits, they are taking on the Linving Building Challenge(LBC) to push their sustainability to a new level. Meanwhile, the zoo is adding in community and education center and productive greenhouse to further educate the public and benefit the community. Considering the new exhibition as part of the zoo, this new addition was carefully braided into the holistic system. As presented here, I was able to contribute to the project through integrating landscape design into water system and architectural design. In collaboration with: Nicole Ridder, Christin Plummer, Jonathan Tomko, Megha Dubey.

CASTLE OF SKY Cincinnati, a city founded in the 18th century, was significantly more prosperous years ago than it is now. How can architecture restore the people and energy of historic Cincinnati to add to the city’s vitality and freshness? Located in downtown Cincinnati, Castle of Sky is designed to draw people back into the heart of the city by providing a friendly urban retreat that responds to the city’s history. Composed with window units that reflects and captures local architectural landscape, it is a castle that brings its inhabitants closer to the sky and the wonderful world of daily life.

Limited and empowered by local climate in Sao Paulo, water is the biggest challenge as well as the greatest opportunity for us to solve the problems on our site in a holistic way. Inspired by precedents including Rome, Italy and Suzhou, China, this project featured four major ponds that are integrated with different programs, the proposed watersystem braides various parts of the site together and presents a possible brighter future for both the human beings and the natural environment. This is a team project that I worked as team leader in collaboration with Xianing Chen and Fei Man.
