Planned Gifts: A Benefit to Donors Now and to Magnificat in the Future
Admittedly, planned gifts are not an exciting topic of conversation, but they can provide you and your family with benefits today, while supporting Magnificat High School in the future. There are a variety of options you may consider, including bequests in your will or retirement fund, or giving through your IRA. Mary Ann and Doug Hofherr, parents of three Magnificat alumnae, (Beth Hofherr ’93, Cathy Hofherr ’94, and Maura Hofherr Haas ’02) chose the latter, and found it to be the best way for them to contribute in 2020. They said, “As Catholic parents, we sent our three daughters to Magnificat High School seeking to continue a sound foundation in academics, spiritual development, and civic responsibility—all matters we consider highly important. Magnificat met and exceeded our hopes. Accordingly, we continue to support Catholic education and, in particular, Magnificat. This year, we used the IRS rule for direct donations to a qualified charity from an IRA for Required Minimum Distributions, which gave us a tax benefit.” When you include Magnificat in your estate, you become a member of the Sr. Bernadette Vetter Society, named in honor of the first principal of Magnificat High School (pictured below). It was her foresight and vision that guided the formation of Magnificat, and by including the school in your gift planning, you invest in the same vision—ensuring that future generations of young women continue to benefit from a Magnificat education.

In the 2019-2020 Annual Report, the The Joseph and Joan Gaul Endowment Fund was mistakenly omitted from the list of Named Endowed Scholarships. We sincerely apologize for this error.
What Can YOU Do In a Day?
Last year, Magnificat’s inaugural Giving Day exceeded expectations by raising over $77,000 from alumnae, parents, friends, and students. This year, we hope to build on that tremendous success and raise $100,000 in support of The Magnificat Fund. Your donation, combined with gifts from so many others, becomes a powerful resource for us to be able to meet the needs of many of our current families. And, your gift will help to provide the tools we need to keep our students, faculty, and staff safe as we continue to press on during this unprecedented school year. Please save the date for April 21, 2021! Every Magnificat student benefits from The Magnificat Fund, and every gift makes a difference.
