Green & White House In this project, the assignment was to design a house on a 4,5m wide infill plot in the middle of Lund, Sweden. The project in inspired by the Dutch and Japanese building traditions of very slim buildings. The keywords for this project has been Verticality, Light, and Vegetation. The materials used are mainly white concrete and glass. Facing north the facade is rather closed off and anonymous. However, on the south side, it opens up and a glass facade provides a generous amount of

3

daylight and views of the garden. The name “Green & White House comes from the meeting between the white concrete and the green vegetation. The concept of verticality has been central during the whole process. Partly in the exterior where the garden expands upwards on the terraced balconies. The verticality is also important for the interior movement by the placement of the stairs is in a light well with a skylight that motivates the upward movement. Towards the light.

The building-height creates a middle height between the two surrounding buildings

Office building in Lund This project was a group assignment and we worked in groups of two. The task was to design an office building focusing on Economic, Social, and Ecologic sustainability. Floor 1 and the underground parking space are built in concrete while the rest of the building is completely built in wood for sustainability reasons. The building is also terraced to the south in order to get in as much daylight light as possibly. However, the building is rather deep so in order to provide an

11

even distribution of daylight we also placed a light well in the middle. On floor 1 facing the north side, we placed a “media lab used by Lund School of Culture. The rest of the building is programmed as an office building. There are 45 office rooms for small companies to rent and, also, a kitchen, a canteen, meeting rooms and spaces for spontaneous interactions.

The terraced roof provides shadow in the summer and enables sunlight in the winter

The facade facing the street relates in a subtle way to its 100-year-old surrounding buildings even though there is a distinct difference in style and choice of material

The building is placed right in the middle of Lund’s old city core. Close both the medieval church and the university

The south facing facade is terraced in order to enable daylight. On the south side there is also a garden connected to building.

The long, open character of the building provides a visual communication both in a horizontal and diagonal direction.

Bathhouse in UmeĂĽ In this assignment, I designed a bathhouse in UmeĂĽ. I choose to work with layered ice as my main concept. The roof construction is made up of four big polygonal slabs of white concrete. The Gaps in between is clad in glass in order to give the building an elevating atmosphere.

Memorial Building The memorial building is a project from the first semester. The assignment was to create a room for contemplation of life and death. The key concept is “nature and movement!. The project is influenced of The Woodland Cemetery in Stockholm and it uses the nature as a meaning-bearing framework. The building surrounds a tree. The move-

23

ment starts at the bottom of the tree. Then you walk upwards, to the top. Then, downwards again. This movement symbolizes the continuous cycle in nature. A cycle in which life and death plays a natural role.

Lookout Tower x 3 Lookout Tower x3 is the result from a course in wood construction semester 4. This was a group assignment and we worked in groups of two. The shape of the building is made up of simple geometries. 3 cubes in different sizes connected diagonally by the corners.
