Plant a tree or more evergreen shrubs.
Build a pond or boggy area.
Make your own compost and mulch.
Avoid chemical fertilisers and weed killers.
Reduce your gravel and paving areas
Install water butts and use collected water for your beds.
Grow your own fruit and vegetables.
Just be more relaxed about having a pristine tidy garden and allow nature a look in. If you really do want large gravel areas then fill it with pots, grasses and sedum.
