Youwillbeverywelcome!
Hello. I am Richard Brown – Vice President of the Probus Club of North Bournemouthuntil the AGM March 2022.
My story is quite simple and it is very possible that you may relate to the chain of events!
After retirement, we moved to Bournemouth in 2015 to be closer to family. Sorting out our new home was the first priority but very soon we realised we had made hardly any new friends.
We saw a feature about the Club in the local press. We looked at the website. I phoned the Secretary. We were invited to the next Wednesday monthly meeting (obviously paying to attend as guests).
After coffee and biscuits we had an excellent speaker on the New Forest Ponies. Then drinks at the bar followed by lunch. We met and were made welcome by several of the members – So we joined!
We have always enjoyed the monthly luncheon meetings with a speaker and where most members attend. But in addition we have been able to choose to join other informal events. Usually there is an Annual Quiz and Ploughmans event which gets quite boisterous From time to time pub lunches are arranged somewhere easily reached. Sometimes there are organised visits out of the area.
Beside the monthly Monday coffee mornings, some of us meet up for a morning coffee elsewhere and then later stroll in the surroundings - and a few might even stay for a snack lunch.
A very varied and interesting diary of events. Perhaps you might do what we did. First look at the website. Take it further and contact the Secretary to indicate if you would like to come to the next Speakers Luncheon. Or even email me for any other queries at rchbrown@ btinternet com
