YMCA say a HUGE Thank You to Dorset Chamber Members for ongoing support…

It has been an unprecedented seventeen months and all businesses, groups and Charities have indeed wondered if they would get through. However, YMCA Bournemouth has continued to ensure the local community, and those in need, have remained a focus of effort, care and our commitment. Delivering directly to those in need of our support 150+ workshops and preparing and cooking 82,000+ hot meals….to individuals such as Dan.

Dan found himself sleeping rough in Boscombe after a breakup of his parents’ marriage. At 18 he found life overwhelming and the streets terrifying. He was frequently shouted at and threatened. Dan first encountered YMCA Bournemouth, Poole & Christchurch through the ‘half time’ project on Westover Road, where the YMCA Chaplain ensured he received a hot meal, a hot shower and a sympathetic and listening ear. This led on to securing a ‘safe’ bed and he moved into YMCA early 2021. Today he is making positive progress, attending workshops and being continually supported to overcome his past and to make ‘lasting’ choices for his future.

Dorset Chamber members, and their commitment and support now over several years, contribute invaluably to YMCA’s mission and passion to make a positive and lasting differences.

On Saturday 16th October 2021 teams/ individuals will be making shelters from cardboard boxes and sleeping outside for the night at Talbot Heath School (Bournemouth), raising awareness and invaluable funds for the work of YMCA to locally continue and increase. The BIG Sleep Easy, thus far, is being supported by Dorset Chamber Members Lester Aldridge, BizSpace, Store and Secure, Dutton Gregory, Octima, Steele Raymond, Nunet, Safi Valves, Forerunner, Autoclub Leasing and Inspire. Others include, Globa Care, King Financial Services and a Christchurch Councillor.
