Monday 6th February 2023 will see the start of the 16th annual National Apprenticeship Week in England – a celebration and acknowledgment of the role apprenticeships have to play in local business, local communities and the development of regional economies. At Weymouth College we champion apprenticeships and skillsbased training every day and will again be recognising the value, opportunity and benefits they bring – to both apprentice and employer – as we support National Apprenticeship Week. The theme of National Apprenticeship Week 2023 is ‘Skills for Life’ and will this year celebrate the partnership between education and business. It will showcase and highlight their roles in together providing work-based professional development and helping to develop the required skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to start, enhance or kickstart a rewarding career. Weymouth College continues to support employers across many business sectors as they grow a bespoke, committed and resilient workforce. Our Apprenticeship Team will be showcasing the many benefits that apprenticeships can bring to our employers and the wider Dorset business community with a range of information sessions and events.
We will be actively engaging with potential apprentices – school and college leavers and those looking to retrain or upskill. We will be holding an Open Evening, Apprenticeship Fair and STEM event on 7th February and will be inviting employers, potential candidates and our local community to find out more about the opportunities and benefits of this career path.
If, as a local employer, business or community group, you would like to join us during National Apprenticeship Week then please do contact us now – details below – and we can talk through our plans and look at how we can work together to build skills for life. Supporting exoffenders into work
Are you a Dorset-based construction employer looking for dedicated and eager individuals for your workforce? The Employment Advisory Board at HMP Guys Marsh, Shaftesbury, is supporting the prison with an upcoming Construction Sector employment event planned for 27th January, 2023.
Employers are invited to meet those actively seeking work, and due for release in the coming months, who have the skills, qualifications, drive, and dedication to contribute to your workforce. All employers will be provided ample table space to promote their vacancies.
Employment Advisory Boards are a new initiative promoting joined-up working between prisons, existing partners and private sector business leaders to support prisoners leavers into employment.
