Jingle Bells! Jingle Bells! Christmas is on its way and so is Sarah Farmer to brighten up the day. This fantastic and fun-filled day for all the family will be held on Saturday 25th November in Penny’s Walk from 1.00pm until 5.00pm. It’s the biggest event in the centre of Ferndown and this year there is more packed in for everyone. The varied attractions will include musical entertainment from solo artists, schools and groups. There are rides and Santa’s Grotto. Hot food, hot drinks (and some cold drinks) and a variety of stalls. The switching on of the lights will be at 5pm and, this year, by
our very own BBC weather presenter Sarah Farmer. I’ll be checking before the event and if Sarah is wearing a thick winter coat, so will I. Start your Christmas festivities here with us.
I look forward to seeing you all! Entrance is FREE.
All profits will go to local charities.

Hello to all and a warm welcome to this year’s Ferndown Christmas Extravaganza his year has certainly seen some massive changes within the chamber and new blood being brought in to re-energise us. We have some big plans for 2018 and are hoping to make Ferndown a thriving and exciting place to do business and visit alike. This Christmas lights switch on should be the best yet with our own executive committee members, Stuart Fleetham and Ben Pulford, working in partnership with the Rotary Club. We are delighted to welcome back Townsends Amusements and would like to thank Stable Structures for
supplying Santa’s Grotto again. Don’t forget to visit our stand under the clock tower for a mince pie and a glass of warm mulled wine, after all it is the festive season. You can also purchase your raffle tickets for your chance to win one of our now famous hampers! So put 25 November in your diary and come along and help us enjoy the festivities as we start the run up to Christmas, we’re looking forward to seeing you. A big thank you must go out to Ferndown Town Council who do an amazing job each year in organising all the street lights and Christmas tree lights that go up around the town enabling us to put on this event for you.

s Christmas Lights n’ w do rn Fe at th e se to d lle I’m thri and better this year. er gg bi en ev be to t se is za Extravagan It is a fantastic event for all members of the community to come together and launch Ferndown into the festive season and to see the town beautifully illuminated. This all wouldn’t be possible without the financial contribution from Ferndown Town Council and the time and effort devoted by Ferndown Chamber of Commerce and Ferndown Rotary Club in organising what will be a great occasion. The festive season provides a great opportunity to reflect upon the last year and plan for the forthcoming year. That’s exactly what I’m doing now as Mayor. Since my election to office in May, I have attended a number of engagements with community groups, local charities, voluntary organisations and businesses in Ferndown and I’d like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for their warmth and hospitality. It has been an honour to meet so many inspiring people who do so much to help and support many of Ferndown’s less fortunate and vulnerable residents. I am truly proud of this community. It has inspired me to launch the Mayor’s Volunteer Awards as a way of recognising the selfless work of volunteers in Ferndown and I shall be announcing the winners at my Christmas Reception. I would also like to thank those who have supported the Mayor’s charity, Ferndown Wheels Park, this year and welcome your continued support in the New Year. I look forward to meeting more of Ferndown’s residents in 2018 and, as leader of Ferndown Town Council, continue to represent the collective views of residents on key issues affecting the town, and ensure improvement plans are taken forward with support from our colleagues at District and County level. We know 2018 will bring new challenges but we can build upon the positive progress from 2017. On behalf of the town councillors and staff at Ferndown Town Council, the Deputy Town Mayor and myself would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a very healthy and happy New Year.
Cllr
Mrs Cathy Lugg
