Welcome to the 2023

We’re delighted to have you join us at this year’s Cheese & Chilli Festival. From the moment you arrive, you’ll be welcomed with an array of tantalising tastes and flavours.

This is a great opportunity to get together with family and friends, as we have plenty of free activities lined up for everyone. Plus, don’t forget to take advantage of the vouchers in this programme – they come with some amazing discounts.

Be sure to sample the chilli sauces with caution –some of these products here are amongst the hottest in the world! If you’d like to be a judge of our sauces be sure to visit our Taste Tent as we have a selection of the best sauces on site for you to try and score.

If you are feeling really brave, why not enter our chilli eating competition or our Verses Chilli Challenge! – these are always a highlight of the event. You can do this via our Information Point.

Please visit Chilli Olly and Chilli Dave in our Cooking Theatre who will be entertaining you throughout the day with a jam packed programme (see Entertainment Schedule).

The aim of this event is for everyone to have a good time and sample different tastes. So please take

your time, enjoy yourself, and don’t hesitate to ask our staff if you need anything.

Are you up for the challenge?

The chilli eating competition takes place at the end of each day and is not for the faint hearted. Contestants battle it to see who can take the heat of some of the world's spiciest chillies. Starting with chillies at the lower end of the scoville scale the rounds rapidly jump up in heat as they progress to find out the ultimate chilli eating champion. If you are interested in taking part in the challenge, entries are now being taken. Spaces are limited so make sure you get your name down early.

Chilli Sauce Competition

A number of cooking demonstrations and talks will be offered by professionals from the cheese and chilli industry. Many sessions will be hosted by the famous Chilli Olly but we will also have many guest speakers. See the schedule for further details. The Demonstration Theatre will also host the popular Hot Food Challenge, Ready Steady Cook interactive cooking session plus much more.

Chilli Sauce Competition

Traders will compete for the coveted Cheese & Chilli Festival Sauce Awards. Entries for mild, medium and hot sauces will be available for those attending the event to judge.
