MUSIC FESTIVAL! A WEEKEND OF LIVE MUSIC, DANCE, VINTAGE

AND ARTISAN

2022 was such an exciting year for us as our fabulous festival won the Event of the Year Award in the DMB Tourism Awards! The award recognises providers of truly memorable and immersive tourism events!

This year it’s time to dig out your dancing shoes as there will be plenty of music across the whole weekend, a busy line-up at the bandstand with MC DJ Mr D! Dave Norrell hosting, Saturday’s retro line-up of Susie Kimber Jazz trio, Sunstroke, Shortstack and Sides and Rip It Up. Sunday will see the likes of Retro Rita, The Big Little Theatre Company, Andy Kennet as Elvis, and Peter Gills as Jerry Lewis and if that wasn’t enough, Shake and Stir will be closing out the Bandstand with their headline act Johnny Earle and the Swing Me Baby Band. Over at the Boogie Bus Stage DJ Andy Shailer will be spinning the wax with music from the 50’s and Marc De Bolster will be singing songs from the war years! A new introducing stage showcasing lots of local talent will be joining us this year along with some traditional games, and lots more!

Charity

Our charity this year is Helping Homeless Veterans UK: Helping Homeless Veterans UK is a registered charity that provides help to Veterans who have served in HM Armed Forces with professional help and assistance with Homelessness and Legislation.

Sustainability

At Stir events we are working towards making our events as green, sustainable and eco-friendly as possible.

It’s definitely a ‘work towards’ list but we are on the journey.

• We encourage all food packaging to be made from either wood, paper/ cardboard or leaves and this includes straws.

• Fish, charcoal, and wood must be from a certified sustainable source.

• All traders must take their waste home with them.

• We have recycling bins in locations across the Walk plus non recycling bins.

• We source local traders and love to work with artisans who make local foods and goods

• We have recently become Ambassadors for Sustainable Palm oil and will encourage those trading and working with us to use it.

An eco-friendly event is one that is all about the effect and influence of the event on our planet - The world is a wonderful place – if we can help a little by making our events as sustainable as possible then we feel we are on the right track – but we are always open to suggestions.

We are lucky to have the Dorset Devils as our Waste Partner – you will see them in high vis jackets around the event site – constantly keeping the Walk clean and helping us to manage our recycling.

We would like to encourage you to travel here in a sustainable fashion – cycle, public transport, walk etc. There are local car parks and free street parking but we encourage you to look after our local residents and not block them in.

This year we have two competitions for you and your family to enter:

• A colouring competition for children

• A best vintage cake competition - bake a cake of your choice which reminds you of vintage times. Bring the cake at 10.00am in readiness for judging by the Mayor!

We also have competitions for our shops, traders and vintage cars and bikes!

• Show and Shine – Best Car in the showground

• Show and shine – Best Vintage Motorbike

• Most beautifully dressed trade stand

• Best vintage window display

Shake and Stir Merchandise

Shake and Stir official merchandise will be available this year for the very first time!

Beautifully designed by local artist and interior designer Vivien Hoffman from Joie de Viv!. Vivien wonderfully brings together all the happy elements of Shake and Stir in a most magical way to give you a super memento to take home this year!
