We are very grateful to everyone that attended last year and by doing so made this year’s event possible. You may have noticed a slight name change as well - this has been done as we feel this event is not just about food, but also about getting the whole family together for a fun day out. Please take the time to look at the vouchers within this programme. They will help you negate the cost of entry when you make purchases at the vendors who have the offers displayed here. We have an amazing array of crafts and food on site from local and regional producers, offering a feast for both your eyes and your stomach.
If you’re interested in the cooking side of things, our resident comedy chef duo (Chilli Olly and Chilli Pepper Perret) will be able to wow you with their knowledge in the Cooking Theatre. Chilli Olly is a bit of a celebrity in the Chilli world, so don’t be afraid to ask him any questions! The Cooking Theatre is a fun and interactive space and will showcase some of the products on site plus cooking, sampling and teaching new culinary skills. If you’re brave enough, you can have a go at the ‘Verses food’ spicy challenge at our Cooking Theatre at around 1:30 pm, and if you would like to get involved with this please speak to one of our Cooking Theatre hosts. For those of you that prefer to truly test your tastebuds and stamina, we have our brand new free to enter ‘Chilli eating competition’ at 4:15 pm from the stage. Please go to the Information Point to sign up – we only have six spaces available each day, and we think this might be popular. We are also hosting a live music stage with acts throughout the day – seating (picnic tables, hay bales and deck chairs) will be positioned in front for you to enjoy a break. We have an event arena positioned in the shaded area towards the back of the site with circus performances and circus skills workshops throughout the day. In between these workshops at 2 pm each day will be a dance performance led by local dance instructors (B.A dancer and Inline dance) and you are all welcome to join in if you are feeling energetic. Also in the event arena at 3 pm each day we have our Companion Dog shows with five categories – best smile, waggiest tail, best recall, big verses small (hopefully big dogs stood next to tiny dogs) and best trick. Please book your dog in for free at the Information Point, be quick though as we only have eight spaces per category. If you are bringing your dog/s, we have eight dog stations around the site which have everything your dog requires to enjoy their day. Please remember to keep your dog out of the full sun during the hottest part of the day – there are many shaded areas on site for them and for you to take a break from the heat.
Additional activities for the children (young and old) include: Crazy Golf, Giant Bubble Parties, Fun Fair, Treasure Hunt and lots of garden games you are welcome to use. We try and design the event so that each member of the family has something to look forward to. The ethos behind Weymouth Food and Family Festival is to create an event which is both affordable and entertaining so we hope you enjoy your stay. If you need to speak to a member of our events team for any reason, please visit our Information Point and they will be happy to help you. This event is all about having some fun and sampling different tastes so enjoy and once again, thank you for coming, stay safe and have a great day
With thanks from Simon, Venetia and the WFFF events team.
