WEYMOUTH FOOD & FAMILY FESTIVAL!
We are so thankful that we have managed to host this event for you for the fourth year running. We are very grateful to everyone that attended last year and by doing so made this year’s event possible.
We have an amazing array of crafts and food on site from local and regional producers, offering a feast for both your eyes and your stomach.
If you’re interested in the cooking side of things, our resident comedy chef duo (Chilli Olly and Chilli Pepper Perret) will be able to wow you with their knowledge in the Cooking Theatre situated in the shady area towards the back of the site. Chilli Olly is a bit of a celebrity in the Chilli world, so don’t be afraid to ask him any questions! The Cooking Theatre is a fun and interactive space and will showcase some of the products on site plus cooking, sampling and teaching new culinary skills. If you’re brave enough, you can have a go at the ‘Verses food’ spicy challenge at our Cooking Theatre at around 1:30 pm - if you would like to enter please speak to one of our Cooking Theatre hosts.
For those of you that prefer to truly test your tastebuds and stamina, we have our ‘Chilli eating competition’ at 4:15 pm from the stage. Please go to the Information Point to sign up – we only have six spaces available each day, and we think this might be popular.
We are also hosting a live music stage with local acts throughout the day – seating (picnic tables and deck chairs) will be positioned in front for you to enjoy a break.
We have an event arena positioned near the Cooking Theatre with mini theatre/balloon modelling throughout the day from the wonderful Magical Alex. Keep an eye out for her at other times though, as she will also be walking around and performing close up magic shows. At 2 pm on
Sunday will be a dance performance led by local dance instructor and you are all welcome to join in if you are feeling energetic. Also in the event arena at 3 pm each day we have our Companion Dog shows with five categories – best smile, waggiest tail, best ball fetch, best ‘talk’ (expect lots of noise!) and best trick. Please book your dog in for free at the Information Point, be quick though as we only have eight spaces per category. If you are bringing your dog/s, we have six dog stations around the site which have everything your dog requires to enjoy their day. Please remember to keep your dog out of the full sun during the hottest part of the day – there are many shaded areas on site for them and for you to take a break from the heat.
Additional activities for the children (young and old) include: Crazy Golf, Giant Bubble Parties, Fun Fair, Treasure Hunt and lots of garden games you are welcome to use.
We try and design the event so that each member of the family has something to look forward to. The ethos behind Weymouth Food & Family Festival is to create an event which is both affordable and entertaining so we hope you enjoy your stay. As local event organisers, Weymouth Food & Family Festival is very special to us and Lodmoor Country Park is an extremely beautiful, albeit small site so we work very hard to try and fit in as many stalls and entertainment zones as we can. Get ready to be surrounded by a shimmering sea of bubbles at the Weymouth Food & Family Festival’s free Bubble Party! Join us at various times throughout each day for a magical experience filled with joy and wonder. Dog Talent Show
Calling all dog lovers! Get ready for an adorable and exciting addition to the Weymouth Food & Family Festival – a dog show that will take place each day! Bring your furry friends and watch as they strut their stuff in various categories. From Best Trick to best smile, there’s a competition for every pawsome participant. Cheer on these four-legged stars as they showcase their talents and win fabulous prizes. Whether you have a pooch to show off or simply want to bask in the adorableness, the dog show is an event not to be missed.
