COLÁISTE BRÍDE Easter Newsletter - April 2022
A word from Mr. McEntegart... As we finish this term can I congratulate all the students and teachers on the excellent work in class. It is important that this work rate is maintained next term as we prepare for the summer exams. Remember, homework is not just about the written exercises, but also reading what was covered in class - today, yesterday and even last week! As our sixth years commence the orals this week can I again wish them every success. It can be a daunting task but your teachers have been preparing you for this - no problem to you! Here in Coláiste Bríde we take great pride when outside organisations compliment the school on our students’ excellent and mannerly behaviour. There have been several outings this term – our Art students going to the Hugh Lane gallery, 5th year Geography field trip, Trinity College visits, soccer matches, etc. and in each and every one the facilitators have praised our students. I congratulate you all. Keep this up! Can I take this opportunity to thank our parents and guardians for their support. We have always maintained that it is in partnership with parents and guardians that our students can learn to the best of their ability and enjoy their school days too! In this Easter Season, we think of our staff and students who have lost loved ones over the last few months. With Christians celebrating the Resurrection we keep those that have passed on in our thoughts and prayers. Beannachtaí na féile na Casca daoibh go léir.

WELLBEING WEEK 2022 Wellbeing Week is the jewel in the CB calendar, and this year we finally got to bring it back live and in person! And we sure made up for lost time! While we did our best to keep things going via Teams over the last two years, there is nothing quite like seeing a face light up in front of you. We really pushed the boat out this year - students were greeted each morning with live music at the door, we had bands in the courtyard and the GPA, a silent disco, a petting zoo, bring your dog to school day, yoga, reiki, beauty treatments, even a man cave for the male staff members! We had an absolute blast, staff and students together. Take a look at the photos below for highlights!!

LCA NEWS - Ms. Roche It has been an extremely busy term for our LCA students, for all the right reasons. First up we had our LCA1 students complete their General Education Task & sit their first Task Interview for their Leaving Cert. Their task was based on their trip to Carlingford at the beginning of the year, and alongside the fantastic help from their teacher Ms. O Donnell, the students completed their tasks and got on really well with their interviews. A huge well done to everyone involved! Our LCA2 students also completed both their Practical Achievement Tasks, which saw them learning new skills from cooking, to knitting, to horse riding, and their ICT Tasks where they designed their very own website. They too had their interviews during the same week which went really well. A huge thanks to Ms. D. McArdle & Mr. Jones for their great help with these. Both our LCA 1 & 2 students also had some workshops with Paige Comerford where they learned some fantastic make up tips & how to create different types of looks. This was a huge success as it is something our students are extremely interested in. A huge thank you to Paige as always for sharing her brilliant talent with us. A huge well done to Gwen Griffin & Aisling McMullen, two of our LCA1 students who spoke so well to the 3rd year students all about LCA & what it looks like to be a great LCA student. Super student voice & leadership was shown here & our 3rd year students were so thankful to the girls. Our LCA2 students were also busy redecorating their tutor class in order to bring some bright colours and positivity into school each day. The girls have motivational quotes around the walls, alongside some comforts such as diffusers, hand creams & their very own mugs which they enjoy their Friday morning hot chocolate in each week. Thank you so much to their tutor Ms. Walsh for her fantastic help here. Finally, this year saw our LCA students have a very special treat just before they headed off on their work experience - our annual Wellbeing Week. The girls showed really brilliant team work during this week & got involved in a lot of the activities. Our LCA1 students transformed our double rooms into a beauty salon for staff to enjoy getting their hair, make up & nails done (the perfect Friday treat!) while our LCA2 students showed true leadership in partaking in the Tug-o-War challenge between staff & students & helping the first year students to get into the real spirit of Wellbeing week. A huge thank you Ms. A. Hogan & Ms. O Donnell with their help with all of this. With the deadline for their next set of Tasks set for Friday April 8th, our LCA1 students were extremely busy last week finalising their hard work & prepping for their interviews which will take place after we return from the Easter holidays. Our LCA2 students are also busy finalising their Personal Reflection Task & prepping for their orals, which again will take place after the Easter holidays. I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all of the LCA team here - teachers, tutors, Year Heads, deputy principals, principal & especially parents & guardians for their super work with the students. We are so lucky to have such a fabulous team. Have an amazing Easter & a well deserved rest everyone!
Ms. Roche
