Dear Parents & Students, I would like to take the opportunity to wish our school community a safe and restful Halloween Break. I am thrilled to say that our students and teachers have worked extremely hard since their return to school. It has been great to see our new 1st Years settle into the Coláiste Bríde way. Building learning power in our classrooms has been the core focus for all students. Our exam years are beginning to understand the focus that is required for the year ahead. Supporting those who need additional help has also been a key priority. Extra-curricular activities planning is well underway, and we have benefitted from many guest speakers returning to our school building. This is what enhances our students school experience. I hope this newsletter gives you a flavour of the fantastic work that takes place in our school each day. Enjoy the midterm and I look forward to welcoming you all back on Nov 1st. Ms. Ronan, Acting Principal
Meet Quentin - our new community school dog!! We you know from the email sent this week, Coláiste Bríde has been lucky enough to be selected to take part in a new Community Dog Programmme, run in conjunction with the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind. Quentin is a two and a half year old Labrador retriever and has been in training for over two years. Ms. Doyle will be the handler for Quentin and has attended training with the Irish Guide Dogs. No matter where Quentin is, he will always be with a trained adult. We are so lucky to have him and hope he will become an integral part of our school community. Welcome Quentin!!

Active School Flag We have a wonderful ASF class this year comprised of students from TY A & B. The students have already been busy this year setting up information hubs, creating an information video and this week organising a whole school physical activity event. The culminating day of the event will involve students playing dodgeball against the teachers which will no doubt be entertaining for both those playing and watching. The class have placed a focus on making physical activity FUN and INCLUSIVE and they have lots of plans for the year ahead. They will be analysing data from the whole school ASF questionnaire after midterm and will be forming an action plan based on the feedback of students and staff.
If you want to keep up to date with the work of the ASF class follow them on Twitter @AsfBride and on Instagram @cb_activeflag_2021
We are delighted to be hosting the Trinity Access 21 Scholars Ireland Programme again this year. We have 23 ambitious 5th year students working with a PhD student from Trinity College who is conducting research in the area of Neuroscience. Rang Oisín will be doing a research project over the course of 6 weeks into the area of concussion and its impact on the brain. Students will get a glimpse of what it is like to study at university and will produce a research assignment as part of the programme. The students really enjoyed the virtual launch yesterday and are looking forward to starting the programme after Mid-Term.
New look website coming soon!! Keep your eyes on www.colaistebride.com for the new and improved CB website!!
Well done to the 5th year Leaving Certificate Applied (R.
