SKILLS

When I chose design, my idea was not about creating a career but choosing a lifestyle, I won’t need a vacation from. I do what I love , not just for work but to feel fulfilled each day. Design not only feeds the much needed desire to create and bring something into existance that nobody ever thought about but also gives you an opportuinity to give something back to the society.

CONNECTING THROUGH VOIDS (OVERCROWDED INTERIORS) Project Type - Visualisation

The program brief was to redesign the library of Gujarat University which has not been used effeciently at the current stage. Due to the increased number of books and the number of students coming in the library needs to be redesigned in temrs of spaces. The project also included to incooperate the other functions like the recreational area, sleeping area and different working and reading areas if thelibrary is supposed to be functioned for 24 hours. In the given project the library has been divided into five different sections, where the library occupies the extreme ends and all the functions spaces come at the cener and in between are the voids that hasthe circulation which connects the library and the functional spaces.

One of the major concepts taken to define the space was insertion along with organisation.

The idea of inserting floor plates in the library to give the vertical continuity of book shelves.

The view of the library connecting with the centeral functional area from the reading space.

The inserted floor plates in the library to which can have continuous shelves from floor to ceiling.

INTERPRETATION CENTER (SPACES FOR ALL) Project Type - Space Planning

Amul in an Indian Dairy Brand based in Anand. Carrying a remarkable history the comapny has a museum that invites guests from all the different segments - like school children, farmers, prisoners, differently abled, people from abroad etc. However being an oldmuseum it required advancement in space planning, function and technology. The project focused on identifying the problems in the existing museum and creating solutions for the same. The area given was 24m*24m in plan with 8m inner volume. The problems catered to were -the current form of the building with respect to the site context, the function, human needs, language barriers, physical constraints, technology and needs for expansion.

BRAND INTERPRETATION Amul as a brand today has grown up globally. Just like how a single drop of water can create an expansive effect in the form of ripples. In the similar manner Amul today has an outreach in all the directions, catering to all the regions with different variety of products.

CONCEPT Columns are the generator of spaces. The concept had been derived from the ripple effect itself, where each column defines its own importance (like each product of Amul has its own place) and the circles formed by them defines the spaces.

INTERIM HOUSING (DEPLOYABLE ARCHITECTURE) Project Type - Structure

The project focused on making of a built form through rapid deployable systems. The aim was to create an interim shelter for the people who suffered from earthquake. The structure designed was semi-permanent which can be carried universally and was stable enough to take the after shocks of the earthquake. The idea was to make a system that can be easily fixed by the people at the site itself - both the framework as well as the surfaces. The material kit selected for the project was also in response to the aftershocks, the feasibility of making it on site as well as the transportation.

FLIP AND FIX (A MULTIPURPOSE FURNITURE) Project Type - Furniture Design

The project focused on resourcing the unused material and making a basic chair out of it. The second part of the project was to add a function to the studied chair and explore the possibilites of what other functions can be added without affecting the primary function. The idea was to flix the backrest and the seating in such a manner that it can also gives a function of a table to work on, along with a relaxing chair (which defines the primary function). The core concept was to keep originality of the primary chair without changing the asthetics.

Project Type Product Designing and Manufacturing

Project Type Editorial

DYST is a gifting initiative that I started in May 2018. The vision was to carter to both the retail and corporate clients in terms of gifting and come up with the ideas that can give a more personalised touch.

The project was done in a internship at Indesign, Ahmedabad where the key work was to write the story behind the project done by the firm (a villa) and approach the editorial board of different magazines for the publication of the same.

The Play of Parallel Lines The idea was to design something which can only be interpreted from a distance. When looked closely, one can just see the lines that don’t touch each other/ But when looked from a distance, one can see the picture.

Different products were designed keeping the same idea in mind. The Showpiece - The product has been done for a company which has the vision to grow globally. The Frame and the Lamp - The gifting conceptfor those who wanted to gift something personalised yet different.

The invitation for VIVO The card was designed for VIVO Family club. The use to transparent acrylic made it look clean with the gold dominating border which defined the richness of the event.

The Corporate Diary The diary and its packaging was done as a corporate gifting project for Kreative Enterprise, MB Consultants, CEPT University.

The Wedding Giveaways The idea was to initiate the customoised gifting on a small budget. The lamp and the clock along with its packaging was done for the weddings in Bhopal and Jaipur.

Documenting a Villa in Ahmedabad The project was done in a internship at Indesign (Interior and Architecture firm) based in Ahmedabad. The key work was to write the story behind the project and approach the editorial board of different magazines for the publication. One of the magazines where the project was published was Washrooms and Beyond.
