COPYRIGHT WHAT IS COPYRIGHT LAW?
HOW DID YOU KEEP TO COPYRIGHT LAW IN THE AUDIO AND VISUAL ELEMENTS OF YOUR PRODUCTION?
The copyright law is the right to protect your own creation I kept to the copyright law by making sure that the music I from people trying to remake or steal it and use it for their used, which was ‘Amanda – Wait’ gained permission for. The own good. When it comes to music Copyright law music that I wanted to use was from mainstream artists who recognizes the problematic nature of this situation, which are very hard to get in contact with and less likely to be is unique to sound recordings, and gives sound recordings granted permission to use their music; this is why sticking distinct protection in their own right that is separate from to the brief I searched for an independent artist who is that in the underlying work. The copyright in the sound easier to contact. I found the artist at a website and emailed recording will run for 50 years from the year of recording, her asking to use this music for a college project, in this or 50 years from date of release if released in that time. email I had explained the terms and conditions such as I Again actual duration may vary slightly from one country would not be using this music video for profitable use, I to another depending on national laws. Copy right Laws would also take the video which will be published on also state that to use certain samples of music you must YouTube down after a certain period of time if this is gain permission from the artist or record label to make requested by the artist. I received a reply from the artist and sure they are at free of use and that they can be used in was granted permission to use the music in my video. The other projects. If you need to get permission to use a piece visual elements in my video where not copied from of music, normally the best place to start is with the last anywhere else as the ideas where made up by myself and know publisher for the work. They will certainly know my partner and we put them together. how to get permission to use the work, (as they must have permission themselves), so they will certainly know who you would need to contact.
OFCOM OFCOM REGULATION
DESCRIBE THE PARTS OF HOW DID YOU KEEP TO IT IN YOUR THE CODE RELEVANT TO PRODUCTION? MUSIC VIDEO PRODUCTION
PROTECTING UNDER 18s
HARM AND OFFENCE
Protecting the under 18s when This rule and regulation was kept in our it comes to the music videos music video by making sure nothing very shown on TV are done by offensive was put in. During the video at putting in a lot of laws and (2:55) we had scenes if the main character boundaries in which a lot of drinking, this was made sure that it was channels have to follow. The not exposed as something glamorous to do first thing that can be to the viewers, so we kept it the its limit mentions is the fact that but also showing what we wanted to before 9PM nothing, which has create the visual of being ‘drunk’. The generally adult material in it, character takes in the bottle many times should be shown. This helps as but the viewer does not really see the many children and young brand of the bottle which makes sure that adults may go to bed or just viewers under 18 do not know the after this time, adult material company’s name so they do not mention is shown after 9pm that can be the brand or obtain it in other ways. This sense such as abuse, gory scene displays a negative side of the details, foul language etc. Also character’s behaviour that viewers can see any violent images included in that it leads to drinking and smoking, videos should be carefully which can cause bad health and is seen as presented so that they are not something, which is frowned upon rather explicit, gratuitous or easily than glorifying it. Our music video did also imitable. This basically means include foul language at 3:18 but because the visuals and the content this was not a part of the actual song but shown in the video must not rather just a part we included we decided be explicit such as nudity, to keep the scene but play the music on sexual reference’s etc, also the top of it so the viewer cannot really tell video must not be exposed to what the character is actually saying. gory scenes or such level of Another way in which we kept to the violence that can be easily boundaries is that we did not include any picked up by younger viewers nudity or sexual reference in our video. and then acted out. Harm and offence in a music video must also be kept to a minimal; the law and regulation act states that Potentially harmful or offensive material includes strong language, violence, sexual behavior etc. Its inclusion must be justified editorially and by the context i.e. taking into consideration the editorial content of the video its scheduling, the audience's likely expectations, any warning that has been given etc. This means that the music video should give some sort of warning that it may have some offensive material, which may not be suitable for children to watch. The discrimination e.g. on grounds of age, disability, gender, race, religion, beliefs and sexuality
The harm and offence was monitored closely and made sure it was not shown in much detail or exposed very much. Discrimination towards anything was not portrayed in our music video and nothing that someone would take offensive or say that it was targeted towards a group of people such as race, age, gender etc. The video did include a minor scene of violence at 0.36 and 0.39 these scenes show the abusive male character push and hold onto the female charter. We don’t believe that this scene promotes violence or encourages younger children to carry out these acts. Another scene at 4.08 shows a box of pills falling out of the character’s hand, this was a scene in which we wanted to portray a pill overdoes in which the character dies. This scene was first storyboarded into a more detailed scene in which we see the character having a flashback of the character overdosing with the pills but during production this scene was taken out for various reasons but this does also
CRIME
FAIRNESS
PRIVACY
must be justified by the context. Nothing transmitted should be intended to stir up racial hatred or, taking into account the circumstances, be likely to do so. This means that everything shown in the music video must be justified to why it was portrayed in a way and must also stay clear of any hatred towards any specific group of people due to certain factors such as race, religion or even age. Crime is also something which should be not portrayed or glamour in a music video. Crime context within a program or music video should be justified but this viewing time should still run after 9PM. This is because the music video should not be teaching crime or viewing them in a positive light to children, this can cause harm as they can easily pick thing sup and imitate them Ofcom has said Fairness in music video relates back to the fact that no ethnic group should be targeted at, this included rascal hate. This includes making jokes, racial langue and abuse and also means that If any minimal joke towards a certain group or religion is made it should not be very offensive and should also air after 9PM so that younger viewers do not need to witness these remarks which they can later be influenced by. The Privacy in music videos means that nothing should be shared outside of filming productions and sets. This Law comes into place when the actors on set divide their real private life and also their stage life, which means two different things. The private live should be well hidden when it comes to being professional as you don’t want both of these two things to mix. This is why laws
contribute to the fact that this scene would have been a bit too exposed for children as pills are often found inside storage cupboard’s that children can get hold of. This is why we decided that it was for the best to just show the box of pills falling out of the hand to add to the suspicion element as well. No other portrayal negative of any race , religion , sexuality was shown in the video and most of this video was kept clean and simple to understand. My video does not have any scenes of criminal activity as we did not agree to put any in the first place, the only criminal offence which is very minimal was at but this was kept to a minimum, as it only showed a women throwing water at another which can be sometimes seen as public disorder.
My Music video does not in any way shape or form promote racial hatred and nothing of any kind is portrayed In my music video.
As we kept to professional acting and the whole music video was planned out we did not fall under a problem regarding leaking of private life and everything on set was kept professional.
are made to help protect the individuals who may be involved in braking news and leaks all over the internet.
INSURANCE TYPE OF INSURANCE
DESCRIBE WHAT THE TYPE OF INSURANCE COVERS
HOW WOULD IT HAVE AFFECTED YOUR PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT?
PUBLIC LIABILITY
This insurance covers the physical objects in a music video. This means all the equipment such as the camera and tripod, also insurance if the actors get injured in anyway or form and the insurance can also cover the business if any damage to the property is done. This insurance covers the completion of the project, which means after the video has been made the total income and the total loss. Also extra charges which may go towards things which have been purchased for the music video last minute etc.
The insurance would obviously make me pay for the cost of having to take it out and make sure that everything is covered. However as we borrowed equipment from the school and the actors where not getting paid or we where not suing any dangerous equipment or locations we did not need to carry out this insurance as it would have been pointless.
COMPLETION
This insurance would have covered everything if needed, and also if we wanted to purchase anything last minute then this insurance would have covered the cost.
