INT OO8 Boutique ELDORADO Sea Plaza, Dakar SN Status: Completed in 2014
In February 2014, Lamtôro Cabinet d’Architecture was commissioned by a client to design the interior of a retail space aimed to be a “gift” shop within the Sea Plaza (Designed by SAOTA) shopping mall. Our design concept (Interior & furnitures) surrounded the word “gift” itself as we imagined gift boxes stacked above each other.
We used the column, that represented a design constraint, as a focal point of the boutique where we displayed the valuable items and the cashier desk.
The ceiling design followed lines towards that focal point. It gave us an interesting pattern and definitely forged a particular cachet to the boutique. The project is published on Architizer.

V 001 Casa R Fort-Dauphin MDG Status: To be constructed
Casa R is an individual residential project located in the South-East coastline of Madagascar, Fort-dauphin. The proposed design aims to break the ground of monotony and self-improvised ways of constructing in the country.
The project introduces a landscape-oriented approach. In fact, the main living space enjoys wide glass openings that blurs the boundaries between inside and outside spaces and the kitchen, the dining area and the TV Space are located upstairs to take advantage of the differents views at any time of the day.
Casa R features wooden sliding shutters to control the sun exposure, a green roof/terrace and different finishes (Marble, Wood, Carpets) according to the different uses of space.

V 003 Casa L Fort-Dauphin MDG Status: Concept
Casa L is a contemporary individual residential concept situated in Fort-Dauphin MDG, that is overlooking the very famous Libanona Beach. The project is organised on 03 levels: - The basement level where the Gym, the Sauna and all the services are (Staff room, Garage, Mechanical room, Laundry) - The night level, which also is the main entrance level, appears to be a floating white concrete volume, - The day level is a volume that is surrounded by a 360° terrace that connects it to all the
views. It is also textured with pieces of wood verticaly laid out in quincunx that play a role in the design and functionality in filtering the sun light. But the main feature of the project is the infinity edge pool that simulates the continuity of its water with the sea in the distance. The pool has a glass bottom floor that is canteliverd at 07m above ground. The “Master section -Bedroom, Bathroom, Dressing Space-” is situated beneath the pool and is flooded with natural light.
From the master section, the glass ceiling (bottom of the pool) embodies the boundary-less relationship between the sky and the space.

LIV 002 Dakar SN Status: Concept
LIV 002 reinterprets the general idea of individual residential by introducing a new organisation of its space in achieving greater density. LIV 002 is a concept of 4 townhouses organised vertically from the less to the most private space of the program. It is located in a residential area of Dakar where land value are significant and where the majority of building are aged.
The first main feature of the project is structural. In fact, the main volume is placed on the top of an array of structural beams underneath which are arranged 2 parking bays per unit, a garden, a storage and the entrance. The second main feature of the project is environmental. The suspended gardens, well illustrated on the main entrance facade, crown the building and allow it to change visually throughout the seasons.
Lastly, we think the use of traditional material such as brick and wood would participate in the contextualisation of the design.
