Canada The Favorite Destination for Immigrants Canada, everyone’s favorite immigration destination has been in the news for some time now, with its immigration friendly policies in sharp contradistinction with USA’s more rigid policy under President Trump. Indeed it appears as though they while the rest of the developed world was busy locking its gates and building bigger walls, Canada was going the opposite way and doing all it could to increase the number of immigrants entering the country. As minister for immigration in Canada, Ahmed Hussein stated the country, was committed to receiving a minimum of 300000 immigrants in 2017. The Canadian government has not only made it easier for immigrants to enter the country but has also launched various programs to help them integrate into their new country. The recent C6 bill passed by the Canadian parliament also makes it easier for Canadian PR holders to obtain citizenship. With all the measures taken by the Canadian authorities to support immigration, it’s no wonder that the immigrants are returning the love.
In a recent study conducted by US News and World Report. Canada was ranked as the second best country to immigrate to, preceded only by Sweden.
Abroad Study ranked Nations The study ranked the nations based on nine categories. Viz, quality of life, citizenship, adventure, cultural influence, entrepreneurship, heritage, movers, openness for business, and power. Out of all the categories listed, Canada scored highest in Quality of life to achieve top ranking in this regard. The welldeveloped health care and education system combined with the rising job market influenced the scoring in favor of Canada in this category. Canada also achieved a high score in the citizenship category with many of the respondents rating it highly on trustworthiness, respect for the property of citizens and human rights. The country also scored high on infrastructure, governance and a strong legal frame work
