Education
I was born in Dhaka in the year of 1986. During my school life, I studied in various schools in different cities of Bangladesh, when moving with my family. When I was young I have been to a few exhibitions where they had architectural models of buildings and I found those models very exciting. I did not know how inspiring they were until I decided to study architecture after completing my Higher Secondary. I had an enjoyable university life in The University of Asia Pacific. After completing my graduation I started working in DWm4 Architects which to me was an extended part of my study. I have worked mostly on the residential and mixed use projects of varied scale. After three or four years of working most of my responsibilities turned into coordination and management of those projects. In a few large scale projects I found my strengths in project management and gradually it engrossed me so much that I decided to obtain higher studies in this field. I think as a developing country Bangladesh is beginning a new era in design and build environment and we still need project management knowledge for our upcoming large scale architectural and infrastructure development projects.
This portfolio includes 6 of my academic projects and 4 professional projects .

DESIGN OF A PRIMARY SCHOOL project duration : 5 weeks. year :2005 It was the first project of design studio 4. Our task was to design a primary school consisting of five class rooms, a computer lab, cafeteria, teachers room and administration office. It was an imaginery site where there was a river on one side. In the begining I started with yin-yang form with two building block forming a courtyard in the centre. In one of buildings which have the classrooms, I made small green spaces in between to facilitate natural light. Thus opening the north and south side for ventilation. Other building had the cafeteria ,teachers’ room and the library.

LEARNING THE PROCESS
project duration : 10 weeks. year :2004 This was a semester long project where each student had to choose a tree from the nearby park and take a photograph of it, with the student standing beneath. Ultimate goal of the project was to design a shading inside the park for the users. First stage was about expressing our feeling and transfering it into a 2d drawing on top of the photograph. Later I created a three dimensional volume to different geometric objects via wire model. Wire model then formulated into a paper model with triangular faces and gradually resulted into a shading canopy for the park.

SPECULATION & REVITALIZATION OF DHAKESHWARY
GROUND FLOOR PLAN
FIRST FLOOR PLAN
duration : 6 weeks team : two member year :2007 location: Dhaka The site for this project was a government land, in densely populated old Dhaka. There was a historic temple named Dhakeswary on the other side of the road. The area was primarily lacking public spaces like parks, theatres etc. The site attracts huge number of people in the evening, due to its prime location. As there was no recreational facilities or open space for the public, we decided to make it an urban hub for local people. Our proposal was to create an underground car park for 250 cars, to accomodate the need of public parking in that area . Above ground we designed three buildings. Building on north side contained theatre, art gallery and food court. Whereas, Building on the south contained the grocery store, retail shops and gymnasium in the ground, first and second floor respectively. There was an amphitheater and another food court at plaza level.

The site for this project was linear and adjacent to a mughal structure named as ‘lalbagh fort’. Lalbagh fort is a 17th century tomb and a fort complex. My initial concept was to create a linear structure parallel to the 22‘ height boundary wall of that heritage. The house had very linear arrangement.Lightwell was incorporated to bring in light and facilitate ventilation . Both the ends of the linear house block was tapered to give it a thin profile when looking from the road.

Atelier was designed for a sculptor . His studio was at the ground floor level with a small office room. In the floors above there was two bed rooms , living ,dining and a terrace .The yard created between fort wall and building was the sclupture garden and also could be used for exhibition .

The University of Asia Pacific has three campuses on the same road in Dhanmondi ,Dhaka. Site for this project was the area where present architecture ,civil engineering, electrical and computer science engineering department is situated. Task was to design a campus building consisting of these four departments. In this project students were bound to follow the rules and regulations of building construction authority of Dhaka. It was quite an irregular site and programmes required a multistoried building. The twin building consisted of two departments each. A bridge joining the two building served as the library. At ground floor I tried to keep spaces as open as possible. Roof of a seminar hall served as a gathering place at ground floor level .

DESIGN OF NATIONAL SECRETARIAT COMPLEX, AT SER E BANGLA NAGAR DHAKA. This project was part of the master plan of Sher e Bangla nagar proposed in 1962 by gov of pakistan. and the whole group of buildings was to be build in 840 acre .But the secretariat building was not built. This project’s location was in the master plan designed by Loius. I Kahn for the parliament building of Bangladesh. The site area was 54 acres .The complex consisted of thirty six ministries in which around ten thousand people worked.Total built area of the project was 1900000 sft and its length was 1760 feet. The entry of the building was from 12’ level and 0’ level accomodated all the parking. The building was designed in a modular manner, consisting of four modules, connected centrally by mosque, library and other common facilities. The buildings height was contained within 9 floors,so that it was lower than the 11 storied high Parliament building. Ventilation of the building was done with help of double wall, which provided both shading and thermal protection. In each module, offices were kept on the north and south side, connected and served by common facilities such as core, corridor and service area.On the other hand, two modules were connected via media room, record room and library.

The design is generated from a few basic architectural considerations. The attempt is to create a form that communicates a sense of stability appropriate for the state-owned financial institution. Terraces have been introduced at different levels in locations that get maximum sunlight. The water-body and green are the typical elements of Bangladeshi landscape that have vanished from urban areas. The proposed design brings these to the foreground as a statement. Shading of glazed surfaces in South and East reduces heat intake. Courtyard along the West peripheral line, creates North-South openings in adjoining spaces. Thus, daylight is taken in while blocking the heat. The courtyard forms the focus of the composition – in both graphical and experiential senses.
